  • After the uploader of the original video, Leafer90 - aka ‪@ColinLack‬ tagged me in it a few days ago, I made a response video to give my perspective and some constructive criticism on the subject matter. The title speaks for itself.
Shoutouts to him and his editor ‪@TheMadBelmont‬ for bringing the subject back up. With the current wave of fighting games, Koei Tecmo should be taking notes, and if there was ever a good time to spread some ideas, it has to be now.

I think the Falcom costumes could be fine for the licensing stuff if they did include DOA5LR though, since they're pretty small but still starting to rise up in the west.

While I wouldn't mind seeing *something* from Koei-Tecmo that would indicate that it still values the DOA fighting games as a relevant franchise (especially if it would also mean I can FINALLY play a DOA fighter on a Nintendo home console), I worry that a remaster like the one mentioned here might be more trouble than it's worth.
For starters, I find the various changes that would have to be made to several games in order to even make them multi-platform to be troubling in the bigger picture. It seems like it would be a lot of tedious work for this kind of title, and the omission/alterations of numerous characters, stages, and costumes from multiple titles would almost certainly attract backlash from the DOA naysayers in the larger gaming community. While the collection of titles might still prove to be a treat for DOA fans, I don't know how much mainstream appeal a collection of compromised DOA titles would have in the current market of new and highly ambitious installments of from other, more popular FG series. Also, given that Team Ninja wasn't able to include the Xbox/Xbox 360 Ninja Gaiden games allegedly due to losing the original codes for those titles, are we even sure that DOA 3, Ultimate, and 4 would be available in the first place?
If this is about securing a good future for the DOA series as a whole, what truly needs to happen is for the next game to be the highest possible quality product that causes the least possible amount of controversy. Short of K-T greenlighting DOA7 or the rumored reboot (AND not sabotaging either of them with terrible business practices), I actually think the next best step is to remaster or remake a single game like DOA Dimensions (which would also involve the removal of certain elements, but not to the same degree a series remaster would). K-T and Team Ninja simply need a DOA game to not get headlines only for the wrong reasons and let the series' core appeal speak for itself. We know this is possible, as it is what DOAD and vanilla 5 set out and succeeded to do to a reasonable degree.

Right? With actual cutscene motion and not that stop motion

Namco re-released Tag and I don't think many people cared. Seems like a waste of time and money to me and it's better for them to just move forward rather than backwards.

Maybe don’t ask for anything from SNK the person who known that company has committed war crimes. I would love to see this podcast send a link.
