    Everytime i see the big bear, i automatically think of super troopers! Lol "Big bear, he's iron tough, big bear, he's had enough" lmao!

    I remember glaring at The Big Bear high up on the shelf in Hungate's Hobby Shop. I always thought how fun that truck would be to build and bash. Fun factor through the roof!

      My friend had one when we were kids. I had the Blackfoot. We used to race em together but I never got to drive his. I won’t drive this one a lot but I’m happy to be the caretaker of such a cool piece of RC history

      @@KamoKits oh yes I definitely do. I rebuilt a vintage Blackfoot last year on the channel and I got the modern axles for it to eliminate that issue.

      Thank you Keith.. unfortunately just from running in the yard the stress crack came back on both sides, but ya can’t see it unless you’re looking and it’s not gonna be a daily driver so I’m ok with it .

    So cool seeing such a historical rig up and running again after all those years.
    Great to see you keeping the original electronics, and that Futaba Attack R was my first ever transmitter..... Still looks great to this day, those things were so well built.

      Thanks brother.. sadly the cracks came back from the little bit of running I did today, but they’re not noticeable, and I’m gonna put a bit more “re-enforcement ” on the bottom side. Not too worried about it not gonna be a daily runner and hey it’s 38 years old lol

      I did run it on the street and it actually handles really well. It’s wide enough to where it doesn’t seem tippy. I posted a short of me running it .. sadly the cracks reappeared after running it just from the vibration. Brittle 38 year old plastic. But it’ll be fine as I’m not gonna run it a lot.

    Awesome work Thad. For the flat spot try simple green and putting them to a motor that will make them balloon while they are soft. Has worked for me before.

    • @IowaBudgetRCBashers

    The body looks fantastic, with the tyres what about putting foam inside to make them round again over the hair buns. Shame the soldering iron not that great, I think the tip is a little small for motor wires. I have to say the gearbox sounds very smooth and it runs ok.

    • @IowaBudgetRCBashers
      @IowaBudgetRCBashers  Рік тому

      If I can find foam to fit I’d do that. It’s really smooth. Took it out in the street tonight and it handles beautifully

  • @eekrc
    @eekrc Рік тому +2

    Looks great! My buddy had one when I was a kid, I always wanted one. They are so much fun in the dirt, but those tires are impossible to find so I would be careful. By the way you could probably just use some foams in the tires to keep the shape. I'm sure others have suggested that too.

    • @IowaBudgetRCBashers
      @IowaBudgetRCBashers  Рік тому +1

      Thanks brother.. these tires are in remarkable shape with no dry rot but sadly the one has that flat spot. I’m gonna try to find a foam that’ll work. I’d put lunchbox tires on it but they’re just not the same

    Did you see the videos of the Japanese toy fair marui was there but I didn't see anybody go to their booth I want to know is are they getting back into making vintage RC's like they did. Would not recomend to do wheelies like that. The gears are weak and costly to replace if you find them.
