- Saba Naheed Arshad was not a celebrity. She was not even famous. But she was a trailblazer in her student days and played a significant role in enriching the literary and theatre activities in the Aligarh of the 1970s. She became the first woman secretary of the Aligarh Muslim University Drama Club. In conversation with Pervaiz Alam, Saba shared memories of her time at the university and people who played a part in her growing up. After a 10-year, off-and-on battle with cancer, Saba passed away on 29 April, 2024, in Dubai.
This interview was recorded in several sessions during 2020- 2021.

Beautifully constructed podcast - miss you Amma 😢
Such a pleasure to hear Saba Apa reminiscing about her AMU days, and her family. May Allah elevate her to the highest levels in Jannah. Aameen. I met her in Dubai several years back and found her to be a lovely person, full of warmth. We spent a great deal of time talking about shahnaz Apa, who was my favourite teacher. Such an illustrious family.
Most of the people mentioned by Saba are legends. For me such interviews are a part of our anecdotal history. Thanks for listening.

اللہ مغفرت کریں
What beautiful memories… thanks Pervaiz bhai… Apia is missed every day
Those are the pious souls who are remembered by so many people with so many fond memories.
When I started to listen this programme, I thought that the introduction by Pervez Aalam would be the best part. However, the whole discussion was so amazing that I finished the entire discussion in 2 sittings, having a lunch break in between.
Being a poet and a chronicler of Mir Taqi Mir's poetry, you appreciated an interview with someone who was not known to you at all. There's some thing special about Saba. Those who knew her feel so blessed.
I didn’t know what happened to her & that she left for heavens after suffering from the dreaded disease. She was one of our most valuable colleagues in drama club. Thx Pervaiz Alam for posting this podcast. May Allah bless her with highest places in Jannah.Aameen 🤲🏻
As a senior member of AMU Drama Club in the 1970s you surely remember how rich the cultural scene was in Aligarh. Saba was instrumental in enriching that scene further. She is sorely missed by her friends.
I really missed those days.
I was in AMU from 2009-2015.
Aligarh aaj bhi aur hamesha hamare andar rahega.
Wo yaadein, wo lamhe jo humne Aligarh me guzaari wo beinteha khubsurat thi
That's what most of the Aligarians say about the time that they spent in Aligarh. What do you think is the reason for such a strong nostalgia? Vo lamhe Azamgarh Ya Jamshedpur ke bhi ho sakte the. Aligarh mein kya surkhaab ke par lage hain?
@@CINEINK kuch to aisa hain.
Bht hi powerful vibes hn but as long as ur in university, the moment u left university sb kuch beganah sa ho jaata hain, agar poorana group university left kardiya then u cannot spent more than 1-2 days in university but jab bhi aap aligarh jaate ho wo yaadein aapko super emotional kardeti hain
Thanks to Cine Ink
Masha Allah. Bahut khub. Aligarh Day's memories.
Asakm, very impressive interview of our dear friend Saba. Pervaiz you have shown excellent communication skills and professionalism in interviewing her and getting the depth of each and every event in a very interesting manner.
May Allah give her jannatul firdaus , amen.
What a beautiful gift of legacy for Saba Khala - someone who was very dear to me and my family and someone who I have seen since my earliest memories.
Thanks to this podcast I got to know and appreciate so much more about the person who I thought I knew well as a child - but the credit goes to the interviewer Pervaiz sahab who in his beautiful mastery went into the depth of narrating and interviewing Saba Khala’s legacy. This is podcast is a glimpse of the wonderful life she lived and the legacy she leaves behind with Asim uncle, her wonderful children Asma, Imad and Bilal and her grand children. May you be comfortable in your new home in heaven Saba Khala we will miss you. Ameen.
I wish Saba could read your comment. I wish she could see how people remember her legacy with so many beautiful memories. But I'm sure she did know that she was leaving a whole bunch of friends and family members who adored her. So many thanks for your kind words about me.

I wish Saba would have heard this in her life time.
So many thanks for sharing your sentiments. It helps to mourn collectively. We have lost a common friend.
Beautiful memories ❤
What a terrific interview which brought tears of sorrow and joy both for me..very sorry to hear about Saba Apa...I was in AMU for my diploma to M.Tech and I was a proud student of Janab Hashmi Saheb, he was HOD( Elect), when I entered in Polytechnic. Allah Saba Apa ko Jannutul-Firdaus ata farmaye..Ameen!
Thanks for your kind feedback. She a noble soul.
Amazing. Heart warming.
Nostalgic ❤
It is so engaging, lucid, real and touchy.. Many thanks Pervaiz Alam Bhai for this interview
And she was the darling of her family, that I know for sure, just like her illustrious mother, Khalida Aapa
Just like a Talib, seeker, we all are seeking forgiveness from the god almighty. We all are seeking peace and pleasant memories.
Thanks for your kind words.
The music that played after you and the wait that Saba would speak was a very painful moment and when Saba spoke, it felt very fond and my heart felt very sad.
Her voice was Radio Voice and in this audio also she spoke very well, her selection of words, her pronunciation and total interview I like the most. May God bless her with paradise.
You're among her friends, Sajid sahab, who worked with her closely as a member of the drama club in the 1970s. She was exceptional in whatever she did. Rest in peace, Saba.
Saba apa will be missed.....shukriya Pervez bhai
