I like the idea better than Sidewalk Labs, but it’s easy to talk a big game with some computer renders and uplifting music. Let’s see the design proposals and implementation strategy.
I am very excited by this and I hope Heatherwick gets to design one of the buildings. Three concerns... a) this video is unlisted; b) the timber frame building should be broken up, as it is currently a large slab that might look good in renderings but won't create a human-scaled experience; and c) Waterfront Toronto's existing public realm theme/language should be continued, including the unit pavers, maple leaf mosaic, and signature 'Olivio' street light.
I hate all these master planned communities in Toronto. they all look so forced and contrived rather than organic. but whatever... lots of money to be made.
Exciting! The proposed buildings are intriguing. I like the rooftop farm and the emphasis on public spaces.
Love love love the cultural/arts lens, I want more of this - especially because of what happened during the pandemic.
