Nice job. I just had a similar problem where I acquired a 32” cherry log. I was drooling until I realized I couldn’t get my saw (Woodland Mills HM130 max) through it. I ended up using a huge chainsaw to rip it down just enough to cut it with the mill. Gorgeous once I got it done.
Wow I'd love to find a cherry log that size. My mill is supposed to cut up to 30 inches but after this experience I find that highly unlikely in the real world. Thanks for commenting, please subscribe.
Thanks for the video. I have the LM30 as well and just did the largest log a neighbour asked me to slab out. It was about 24" - 26" diam. so I felt pretty confident given the spec of 30". Like you indicated on your vid it took a great deal of time to process. On the first pass I could not use the log-dog as it could not fit. I am trying to figure out how Norwood (NW) figures this can do up to 30" diam. My only thought at it's maximum diameter is to not use the log dog, nor the posts and simply wedge the log into place and more or less cut 'free-style' hoping the weight of the log keeps it in place. In fairness, I don't plan on processing many logs that size, but the mill should function to spec. Did you connect with NW over this to see what their explanation is? Curious what they might have said before I reach out. Great video, thanks for posting.
Which engine do you have on your machine? I am looking at this same mill but am undecided on the engine. I am leaning towards the Briggs with the electric start.
I have the 14 hp Kohler. It works well but when I use the saw I can tell that it has alot more potential for power and speed than the 14hp engine can fulfill. I'm planning onto getting a bigger engine.
@@springorchardfarm1214 thanks for getting back to me. I just found your video where you mentioned bigger would be better. I just found your channel and have been enjoying your videos the last few minutes

Thanks! No I didn't contact Norwood,
I don't plan on doing logs that big very often.
Almost everything I cut is 20" or smaller.
Nice job. What’s it cost for a log that big?
