That battery was in a lake for months so it had no charge, it cant explode
@@luluthecat1570 Very true, it was just the theory more than anything, because generally you don’t pierce batteries.
@@luluthecat1570 it has nothing to do with the charge, Li-Ion batteries can catch fire even without charge, it‘s just that after months in a lake all the lithium already reacted with the water

Get a hand drill!! they cost about $7 to $20 depending on if you want to hold it like a screwdriver, or if you want to use a crank, which i reccomend because you might need some presure to get through metal, usually hand drills are made for wood, but can be used for delicate drilling nonetheless

Water conducts electricity. There was probably a little bit of water still on the connector and it created a shortcircuit, killing the board.
