I learned how to make bakes from a Trini on UA-cam. Measurements , frying time everything to the T. When I make bakes now everyone is blown away. I am grateful for our people who are documentating our culture, our cuisine, our traditions. I also value that for many our culture is passed down organically by observation from generation to generation, but I would do anything to get my grandmother’s recipe on how to make “cooling”. What herbs and bush she used. We had to drink that for three days at the end of our summer holidays. She died with all that knowledge and no one had the foresight to write it down. I wish I had simply asked. I love the way Stephanie thinks.Xx
