I'm here to say a goodbye to one of my favorite Nintendo consoles and to my last video game I bought. Unfortunately, the 3DS is no longer being produced, and this makes me very sad. It is a great time to say farewell to such a cool console that people may only consider the Wii U of handhelds, but for me it signified a lot more than that. It was a blast to play all those great games it had, like Luigi's Mansion: The Dark Moon, Super Mario 3D Land and even my first game, another underrated one, Mario Kart 7. Thanks for everything, Nintendo 3DS. For proving that until today you're still worthy. I am and will forever remember what you did to Nintendo, basically saving them from the bad things the Wii U did and proving to be more than another dual screen handheld with touchscreen, but being an evolution to gaming with your 3D mechanic. i'm listening to this whilst doing homework and i feel like i'm gonna cry. the console was discontinued a few months ago, and i'm no longer able to access miiverse, or the online stuff in the badge arcade. the only fun things i can do are online matches in mariokart 7, or trading pokemon. god, i wish the 3ds could've stayed with us for a bit longer .

Because the 3DS can play all DS games, connect to the Wii for specific titles, and use the virtual console, it makes it the perfect backwards compatible machine! So long live the 3DS, it's incredible games, and the fan community that's built it up!

I'll never forget the morning of Christmas 2011. Had a few rough days of school before break but got the system I've been dreaming of! And this music playing when I turned on the system and tested the 3D for the first time and started playing Mario Kart 7, I'll never forget it was the best Christmas ever. And it makes me cry thinking about it being over 10 years ago now. Future generations won't understand the hype and nostalgia for this system.
I literally got the red 3ds with mario kart 7 on that same day. To this day, I still say it was the best Christmas present I've ever received. I was 8 years old. Man I miss my childhood :(

I don't know why, but this song just, makes me feel a certain way. It's hard to describe. It just has this sort of feeling it gives off, where it makes me think about memories you wish you could relive, about how much I've done, and while most songs like this one make me tear up, this ine doesn't for some reason. It makes me reminisce about when I was younger just like those other songs do, but in a different way that nothing else has quite made me reminisce. I remember the day where I played MiiTopia and I got so mad because I couldn‘t deafeat the monster, then my dumb-ass-brain thought it would be a good idea to theow the Nintendo. So I throwed my Nintendo out of anger and it broke in two halves. I was so shocked. It felt like my heart shattered. I was staring at my broken Nintendo, my childhood console, my everything. I sat there for 10 minutes, crying and my life flashed in front of my eyes. It was the 12th December 2019, I will never forget that day. It seemed like yesterday. All of the data disappeared, except my photos and videos. It was the most important thing that is gladly still there. My best friend gave me her Nintendo 3DS and it was different. It didn‘t feel the same. Well, at least I still have my pictures and all but nothing can replace my Nintendo 3DS. 3 months later in March 2020 my phone, apple watch, airpods, wallet, charger and my Nintendo 3DS got stolen. All those photos and videos are gone. Completely gone. Forever gone, and will never ever be seen again. My brother‘s 3DS also got stolen and there were a lot of pictures of out Netherlands trip back in 2015. It was such an unforgettable trip. I missed that time. And now all of that is gone. My parents only took like 3 pictures from our Netherlands trip while my brother took like 20. This console was the console of my childhood, only good memories, I took it everywhere on vacation with me. When I was 7-8 years old, I got up a little earlier in the morning to be able to play a little more 3DS, Mario Kart 7, Pokemon, War of the Heads... And also, when I invited friends at my house so we can play 3ds together! And without forgetting the settings, do I need to talk about them? Yes. I heard this music, believe me! She saw everything. Me changing the time, recalibrating my joystick, my touch screen, trying to find the password for my parental control... My god this hits hard. 10 years have passed and my original 3DS still works to this day, now that I'm in college and I have a bank account I might buy some games on my 3DS before it shuts down. My 3ds was like a companion to me. Everywhere I went I took it with me. Grandma's, Dad's, School, Friends houses and trips away from home..... Man what a ride.
I stopped using my 3ds a few years ago and eventually forgot about it when I was introduced to other mobile devices. I eventually found it again snug under my bed covered in dust, and I booted it up just to see it one more time. And I just felt so bad for forgetting about my 3ds for such a long time, when I launched the activity log there was just empty space of nothingness because I didn't play anything. I launched the gallery and I almost cried because of all the old photos I took when I was young, my old house, my siblings, my loved ones and how young they looked and myself. My 3ds still works to this day, it's a bit old and I have to blow into the cartridge slot for it to load a game.
Growing up, I remember getting a Nintendo 3DS in an early Christmas mourning in 2012. The 3DS was something that I had received was from my Grandpa before he passed away. It gave me many memories that I had with him as I would always bring it to his and Grandmas house as me and him would be just sitting in the same room on seperate chairs just chilling all day. This would lead to me often going to him when I was going through tough times as he would often be there for me to give me some advice or just sit quietly with me in the same room. He had an old saying which I think really connects to the comment section and how we all feel. It went something like "Whenenver we want relive our past, time goes slow, however whenever we want to grow older we forget about our past and present, and time goes faster". I wish I could go back to that same room with him, with my 3DS, just the 2 of us. He would always help me reflect on my current situation and could always convince me everything was going to be alright. I wish he was still here today, but I can't make that wish come true as I was too busy not thinking about the present and only about the future. I'm sure he's in a good place now, watching over me and all of my relatives. I will cherish all of my memories with him and the 3DS forever, and I hope you all will cherish all of your memories too, good or bad. The 3DS was like an imaginary friend that we had always wanted, always there for us in need. I also hope you will cherish your time with all of your loved ones, as you never know when it's time to say goodbye. I got my 3DS on my 17th birthday after I had seen people playing Pokemon X back in November at my high school. I had gotten the Mario and Luigi Silver 3DS XL along with Paper Mario. A few days later, I got Donkey Kong Returns 3D and Lego Batman, both of which allowed me to get Pokemon X for free through Club Nintendo. I created many memories with that 3DS and will always cherish them. I played many games, made connections on miiverse, streetpassed with many of my school mates, and of course settled it in smash! It is fascinating how the console's menu music can really evoke nostalgia. Thank you 3DS for the memories, I will always cherish them, ALWAYS!!! :D
After hearing the 3DS was disconnected I was very disappointed to hear it. I remember getting my 3DS The Cold Christmas morning with Pokémon and a hot wheels game. Well Sitting here playing the 3DS that I have had all these years later I don’t have any plans getting rid of it or stop playing it forever. My 3DS was like my friend almost sounds weird I know . My 3DS help me get through depression my parents divorce and multiple breakups and while still playing through all those times I still could find a bit of enjoyment with my 3DS. I’m sure you guys get the point in trying to make but Nintendo... Thank you for making one of the best things in my life and getting me through these though times in my life. It's been 10 years since I bought my blue 3DS, I always went to it and played it all the way. This sound in particular gives me so much nostalgia that I can feel the same feeling I did as a kid when I took it everywhere trying to find for internet since I didn't have any. I probably shouldn’t talk about shit that’s personal in a UA-cam comment section of all places, but eh. Fuck it. Earlier last night on May 9th, 2021, I was thinking to myself about, well, myself. I was wondering if anything around me was real. Nothing felt real. It felt like I was faking everything around me, even those feelings I was experiencing. I got on UA-cam to distract myself. Get away from the dark corners of my brain for a while. Then, for whatever reason, I grabbed my WiiU (I know that this isn’t music from that console but I’ll get to that in a sec). I hit the home button on my game pad and quick start opened up. I saw the friend list icon so I clicked on that. The wave of nostalgia hit me as I scrolled through my list and the music quietly played, humming old memories to me. I clicked on “recently played with” and saw the multiple icons for Smash 4 and Splatoon. My last game was with a friend of mine (who has been my significant other for over the past year now; funny how things turn out) back in 2018. November 25th, 9:18pm. It was a couple weeks before Ultimate came out so I figured I’d give my final goodbyes to the game before I let it collect dust in my collection. Eventually, I closed out of it and went through more of the WiiU’s applications, listening to the music as it filled the quietness of my room. After a while, I turned it off, and I laid down on my bed, hearing this tune blare in my head. It was bittersweet. I was happy that I had these memories, but it also felt so far away. It all felt so… sad. Sad that I could never go back and relive it all. I’m pretty young. I was 6 when I got my 3DS and 8 when I first got my WiiU. It hasn’t even been a decade, and yet it still feels like it has been. Sure, this era of Nintendo was heavily criticized, at least with the WiiU, but those two consoles gave me everything. The first experience of online play-like building bases in Minecraft that I was super proud of, or beating the hell out of my friends in Smash, or playing match after match in Splatoon-my first experience with gaming news, my first experience with getting friends through games. I’ll cherish this era forever. It’s a huge part of my life. Got me through some hard times. Helped me distract myself from the shit show it would’ve been if I barely messed with games Thank you Nintendo. I might not like you as much as I did back then, but you gave me something. A childhood with happiness and some fun-ass times. And something to get away from reality with.
Love this song so much... I have so much nostalgia for the 3DS... Whenever I was talking to my villagers in New Leaf, or training my Litten in Ultra Sun, this console will always stay in my heart.
I miss the 3DS, but not just the console itself, the memories I made with it. While I and a lot of others now play the switch instead, the 3DS will always be in my heart as the perfect gaming device. I was 7 when I got my 3DS and I am sitting here as a 16 year old who still uses it to this day. I actually got a summer job just to buy all of the Legend of Zelda models of the 3DS. I learned how to install CIA stuff and roms which gave me a new reason to go back to it. Last year I remember sitting in my room and going through pages and pages of all the games I could download. I got games from my childhood on the original ds and games that I had just always wanted to play. Overall I think that the 3DS was the best thing for my developmental years. Even though I am still young, I look back and think about all the things I overcame because I had that blue super smash bros 3DS. I think of how I wouldn't leave the house without it at some points. That 3DS was the friend I never had and the friend I always needed. It's bittersweet to look back but also just sad. I'm not proud of everything I was back then but I am happy that Nintendo was their with me. I am proud to say that I am who I am because of how Nintendo made me feel less alone.

It’s doesn’t make me want to tear up like others, but gives back memories of childhood and nostalgia in a way doesn’t make you feel sad, but more why did life feel so good back then. One of my favorite consoles, childhood memories bursting back at me. You will always remain in my heart, 3DS. Even years after the nintendo switch, I played games on the 3DS, and it introduced me to some of my favorite games that happen to be super underrated like Miitopia and Tomodachi Life. Luckily, Miitopia got on the Nintendo Switch, so even after I broke my 3DS, I could still experience my favorite game on the Switch. I miss you, 3DS
We still have our 3DS. The battery is failing, the shoulder buttons need fixing and because of the SD Card reader, functionality is limited, but it still works fine. It's still the same console, but nostalgia means something feels different. And this is just from the Settings, but it's still filled with attention to detail, and after a childhood of enjoying it, you appreciate that people worked tirelessly on this. And the reason you're here, and you remember, and you're nostalgic, is because it worked. I'm here because tomorrow it's my birthday, when I got my DSi XL which I've had for over a decade. I'm also nostalgic for this.
The 3DS family of consoles managed to do the one thing other consoles tried and failed to do. It finally made 3D gaming possible without the need for special equipment like a pair of glasses or a limited color palette. While it wasn't perfect even at the start of its lifespan, it allowed us to feel like we were looking at animated, intractable dioramas when in the correct conditions. Something about the 3DS made it feel like when the 3D was turned on I was actually in the game I was playing somewhat. It just felt more natural seeing 3D models in full 3D compared to viewing them behind a 2D focused screen. Like I feel like I could actually reach out and grab the models I saw potentially play with them as if they were figurines. You have no idea how much I would look at specific models from my favorite games and wonder what it would be like if I had custom toys based off of the model I was looking at. Even a custom plushie based off of a 3DS model would've been interesting to own. The 3DS may be discontinued and the eShop and Theme Shop may be closing its metaphorical doors on March 27th next year, but it's legacy will still live on via mods, hacks, homebrewed software and archives of every last piece of data the 3DS has to offer. I was unable to experience many features of the 3DS for a few years. Like the eShop, downloading demos and online matches with other people from around the globe due to not having available Wi-Fi for a long time. But I'm glad I was able to experience a good portion of what the 3DS had to offer offline during the time I didn't have Wi-Fi.
I am so lucky to still have my 4 systems (Pikachu 2ds XL, Electric Blue reversed colors 2ds, original black new 3ds XL, and the blue regular 3ds XL) I am sad to see this system is no longer supported but I believe that it all ended on a high note. I will always cherish what I have and look to the future for when even the Switch will be old news. The problem with modern technology is that it keeps evolving, but it does so too quickly, not giving those around it enough time to smell the roses and enjoy what they have before it is over. Let us listen to this music and remember better times!
My 12 year old 3DS still looks as good as new. I remember how shiny and blue it was when I bought it with my first ever paycheck. I always took good care of it and kept it in a protective case. Kind of forgot it existed and it just sits in a drawer now, but hearing this music really takes me back to being 17 sat in my first flat playing that augmented reality game where you shoot faces of yourself. Only played a few games on it and only bought it for resident evil revelations, but what I would give to open up that box again and experience it all for the first time...
Ill never forget my 3DS bro Back when I was a kid before my life went spiralling out of control, when I used to play nintendogs all the time because I hadn't had a real pet yet, that dumb baloon face game, shaking it up and down to get a pedometer score for the plaza puzzle coins, games like FIFA 12, a turn based ghost recon game and all sorts of games that to adult me are garbage but at the time when I was 10 were my life. Countless photos of my first ever dog that I would give anything to have today after she passed away over a decade ago now. It would come everywhere with me and I would play everything on it. Me, my brother and sister all sold our consoles to get the money for an xbox One in 2015. At the time we didnt think anything of it but looking back at it now it was the most peaceful time of my life and I wish some way some how I could get it all back to live again, but like all memories the thoughts are all I have left. My 3DS, my Wii and my 360, my Xbox One, were attached to so many memories I have never spoken of or talked to anyone about before because my life from the age of 8-22 has just been such a mess I am lucky to be alive but maybe one day when I have kids I'll be able to tell them about all the great stories I had from the rare bright spots of my childhood

Me too. Well, i still have my 3DS, but is dead, just that I keep it because of the memories. My sister also had one back into the 2010s decade. Since she didn't used it anymore, she gave it to me.
For me I have the original 3DS the reason I kept this model is because of the 3D light and my games are split across three SD cards and since the newer model 3ds has the SD card slot underneath the back panel and I can't merge all my stuff into one card and I don't think using a screwdriver to switch between SD cards is a good idea especially because two of the SD card's aren't micro-sd
I have a 2ds but i'm saving up to upgrade to a new 3ds :) no matter what nintendo dose about it the 3ds shall never really die it shall live on in the spirt of the true golden age of nintendo

i was born in 2009 and got my first 3ds in christmas 2015 and kept it for two years until the battery fully died, two years ago i got my white and red 2ds and played with it today i was scrolling through youtube and found this video, i am now going to grade 7 (year 6 for uk) in a week and had to hear it one more time before i do stupid stuff with my friends for the next 7 years as i have spent all my early school life studying. Thank you Nintendo. May the 3ds's legacy live on.
update: it’s been a year and i’m now in grade 8 (year 7) i was walking home and this popped up again. while i don’t goof off with my friends as often as i thought i would, i’m still glad to have them, as for my 2ds i’m very sad that the eshop is closing down, but i understand why. i still have it though. again, thanks nintendo, and thanks wafflesrlife for posting this, and thanks to everyone who ever had a 3ds. i wish you all the very best.
Got a Red 3DS XL gifted by my Aunt... i had such a blast taking it everywhere, playing tons of different Pokemon games, playing the Mii Plaza Games... now there he lies, one of the shoulder buttons is cracked, the screen has a very small dent, the left speaker is broken and the 3D glitches... And yet He still holds on, he tries his best to play all the games i ask him to, play all the Videos and show all the Images i took starting back in 2014... Thank you Nintendo... Thank you. This sturdy Beast has held through so much and is still working wonderfully... The Switch... just doesn't give the same feel, its bigger, easier to break, has less charming design But i guess, we should make the most of it, now that the 3DS is discontinued. Bit of a long comment but as a kid, I had a DSi XL my grandpa bought me. It was the Mario 25th anniversary edition and I loved it. My mom has some shitty friends so... It was eventually stolen along with all the flipnotes on it and all my games. Shortly after, the 3DS came out. My mom and I were too poor for cable so I didn't even know what the 3DS was. My grandpa got me the cosmos black 3DS and I found it early so they just let me play it early. And that's where I really became a "gamer". So many memories with that thing... All the preinstalled apps, making friends at school with Street Pass, hell I didn't even know I was playing it half the time. I'd be on it in photos and not even remember. Occasionally going to a relative's house and having my Nintendo Video be refreshed with Bravest Warriors, Bee and Puppycat, Baman and Piderman, and Dinosaur Office... Playing Kid Icarus Uprising for the first time, my mom renting Kingdom Hearts Re Coded for me and then her friend eventually buying me Dream Drop Distance which immediately made KH one of my favorite franchises, getting Smash Bros from my dad on Christmas, randomly picking up the last collector's edition or whatever of Project X Zone on a whim alongside DKC Returns and Scribblenauts Unmasked and having X Zone become one of my favorite games of all time- the 3DS was an important part of my childhood. I am not afraid to admit that I cried like a bitch when I heard it was being discontinued. All the music is just different now. Like an abandoned mall. The eshop's last used music didn't sound like my eshop. Years ago, my 3DS' l and r buttons broke so i sold it and regretted it ever since. I bought a new 2ds xl and it just doesn't feel the same. I feel dumb for rambling on but it's just insane how important this thing was to me. My childhood wasn't the worst by far, but it was definitely awful. And yet the 3DS was always there for me. It was my one friend. I had it for years and it never left my side and then I ended up abandoning it. All the memories of the apps, and the games, and the themes, and those stupid fucking limited use demos. This will always be my favorite console. And I will always be sorry for leaving it behind. i remember the day i was sick in the car cause i was playing the 3ds, good times, mine eventually broke when i opened it up fully so i always had a half open 3ds which was impossible to play, so i eventually sold all the games i had on it.. it had mario kart 7, tomodachi, you know, the good stuff........

I'm here to say a goodbye to one of my favorite Nintendo consoles and to my last video game I bought. Unfortunately, the 3DS is no longer being produced, and this makes me very sad. It is a great time to say farewell to such a cool console that people may only consider the Wii U of handhelds, but for me it signified a lot more than that. For me, it was the next generation. In 2012 I was only 8 or 9 when I got my first 3DS, and it was was some of the happiest days of my life.
The comments section here is like "The 3DS is dead, rest in pieces" I I feel like, Even though the 3DS is discontinued, that doesn't mean the fun has to stop here! In fact I'd say the 3DS is better than ever! With new Homebrew ports of Games, hacks for games like Mario Kart 7 with CTGP-7, and a back catalogue that is massive! Because the 3DS can play all DS games, connect to the Wii for specific titles, and use the virtual console, it makes it the perfect backwards compatible machine! So long live the 3DS, it's incredible games, and the fan community that's built it up!

I'll never forget the morning of Christmas 2011. Had a few rough days of school before break but got the system I've been dreaming of! And this music playing when I turned on the system and tested the 3D for the first time and started playing Mario Kart 7, I'll never forget it was the best Christmas ever. And it makes me cry thinking about it being over 10 years ago now.
Future generations won't understand the hype and nostalgia for this system.

I don't know why, but this song just, makes me feel a certain way. It's hard to describe. It just has this sort of feeling it gives off, where it makes me think about memories you wish you could relive, about how much I've done, and while most songs like this one make me tear up, this ine doesn't for some reason. Considering this was my childhood console, I am such a dumbass for breaking it...
I remember the day where I played MiiTopia and I got so mad because I couldn‘t deafeat the monster, then my dumb-ass-brain thought it would be a good idea to theow the Nintendo. So I throwed my Nintendo out of anger and it broke in two halves. I was so shocked. It felt like my heart shattered. I was staring at my broken Nintendo, my childhood console, my everything. I sat there for 10 minutes, crying and my life flashed in front of my eyes.
It was the 12th December 2019, I will never forget that day. It seemed like yesterday.
All of the data disappeared, except my photos and videos. It was the most important thing that is gladly still there.
My best friend gave me her Nintendo 3DS and it was different. It didn‘t feel the same. Well, at least I still have my pictures and all but nothing can replace my Nintendo 3DS.
3 months later in March 2020 my phone, apple watch, airpods, wallet, charger and my Nintendo 3DS got stolen. All those photos and videos are gone. Completely gone. Forever gone, and will never ever be seen again.
My brother‘s 3DS also got stolen and there were a lot of pictures of out Netherlands trip back in 2015. It was such an unforgettable trip. I missed that time. And now all of that is gone.
My parents only took like 3 pictures from our Netherlands trip while my brother took like 20.

This console was the console of my childhood, only good memories, I took it everywhere on vacation with me. When I was 7-8 years old, I got up a little earlier in the morning to be able to play a little more 3DS, Mario Kart 7, Pokemon, War of the Heads... And also, when I invited friends at my house so we can play 3ds together! And without forgetting the settings, do I need to talk about them? Yes. I heard this music, believe me! She saw everything. Me changing the time, recalibrating my joystick, my touch screen, trying to find the password for my parental control... I see in the comments comments like ''rest in peace 3ds 🙏'' For me this console is still alive. She marked me, she has a small place in my heart. So. My god this hits hard. 10 years have passed and my original 3DS still works to this day, now that I'm in college and I have a bank account I might buy some games on my 3DS before it shuts down. My 3ds was like a companion to me. Everywhere I went I took it with me. Grandma's, Dad's, School, Friends houses and trips away from home..... Man what a ride.

I stopped using my 3ds a few years ago and eventually forgot about it when I was introduced to other mobile devices. I eventually found it again snug under my bed covered in dust, and I booted it up just to see it one more time. And I just felt so bad for forgetting about my 3ds for such a long time, when I launched the activity log there was just empty space of nothingness because I didn't play anything. I launched the gallery and I almost cried because of all the old photos I took when I was young, my old house, my siblings, my loved ones and how young they looked and myself. My 3ds still works to this day, it's a bit old and I have to blow into the cartridge slot for it to load a game.
Growing up, I remember getting a Nintendo 3DS in an early Christmas mourning in 2012. The 3DS was something that I had received was from my Grandpa before he passed away. It gave me many memories that I had with him as I would always bring it to his and Grandmas house as me and him would be just sitting in the same room on seperate chairs just chilling all day. This would lead to me often going to him when I was going through tough times as he would often be there for me to give me some advice or just sit quietly with me in the same room. He had an old saying which I think really connects to the comment section and how we all feel. It went something like "Whenenver we want relive our past, time goes slow, however whenever we want to grow older we forget about our past and present, and time goes faster". I wish I could go back to that same room with him, with my 3DS, just the 2 of us. He would always help me reflect on my current situation and could always convince me everything was going to be alright. I wish he was still here today, but I can't make that wish come true as I was too busy not thinking about the present and only about the future. I'm sure he's in a good place now, watching over me and all of my relatives. I will cherish all of my memories with him and the 3DS forever, and I hope you all will cherish all of your memories too, good or bad. The 3DS was like an imaginary friend that we had always wanted, always there for us in need. I also hope you will cherish your time with all of your loved ones, as you never know when it's time to say goodbye.

It was fun y’all.
I got my 3DS on my 17th birthday after I had seen people playing Pokemon X back in November at my high school. I had gotten the Mario and Luigi Silver 3DS XL along with Paper Mario. A few days later, I got Donkey Kong Returns 3D and Lego Batman, both of which allowed me to get Pokemon X for free through Club Nintendo. I created many memories with that 3DS and will always cherish them. I played many games, made connections on miiverse, streetpassed with many of my school mates, and of course settled it in smash!
It is fascinating how the console's menu music can really evoke nostalgia. Thank you 3DS for the memories, I will always cherish them, ALWAYS!!! :D

After hearing the 3DS was disconnected I was very disappointed to hear it. I remember getting my 3DS The Cold Christmas morning with Pokémon and a hot wheels game. Well Sitting here playing the 3DS that I have had all these years later I don’t have any plans getting rid of it or stop playing it forever. My 3DS was like my friend almost sounds weird I know . My 3DS help me get through depression my parents divorce and multiple breakups and while still playing through all those times I still could find a bit of enjoyment with my 3DS. I’m sure you guys get the point in trying to make but Nintendo... Thank you for making one of the best things in my life and getting me through these though times in my life. Yet it’s life time is over and it’s time to close the end of a era I will never forget the memories I have made my 3DS through Mario to Pokémon to Miiverse to tomodachi life. Earlier last night on May 9th, 2021, I was thinking to myself about, well, myself. I was wondering if anything around me was real. Nothing felt real. It felt like I was faking everything around me, even those feelings I was experiencing. I got on UA-cam to distract myself. Get away from the dark corners of my brain for a while. Then, for whatever reason, I grabbed my WiiU (I know that this isn’t music from that console but I’ll get to that in a sec). I hit the home button on my game pad and quick start opened up. I saw the friend list icon so I clicked on that. The wave of nostalgia hit me as I scrolled through my list and the music quietly played, humming old memories to me. I clicked on “recently played with” and saw the multiple icons for Smash 4 and Splatoon. My last game was with a friend of mine (who has been my significant other for over the past year now; funny how things turn out) back in 2018. November 25th, 9:18pm. It was a couple weeks before Ultimate came out so I figured I’d give my final goodbyes to the game before I let it collect dust in my collection. Eventually, I closed out of it and went through more of the WiiU’s applications, listening to the music as it filled the quietness of my room. After a while, I turned it off, and I laid down on my bed, hearing this tune blare in my head.
It was bittersweet. I was happy that I had these memories, but it also felt so far away. It all felt so… sad. Sad that I could never go back and relive it all.
I’m pretty young. I was 6 when I got my 3DS and 8 when I first got my WiiU. It hasn’t even been a decade, and yet it still feels like it has been.
Sure, this era of Nintendo was heavily criticized, at least with the WiiU, but those two consoles gave me everything. The first experience of online play-like building bases in Minecraft that I was super proud of, or beating the hell out of my friends in Smash, or playing match after match in Splatoon-my first experience with gaming news, my first experience with getting friends through games. I’ll cherish this era forever. It’s a huge part of my life. Got me through some hard times. Helped me distract myself from the shit show it would’ve been if I barely messed with games
Thank you Nintendo. I might not like you as much as I did back then, but you gave me something. A childhood with happiness and some fun-ass times. And something to get away from reality with.

Love this song so much... I have so much nostalgia for the 3DS... Whenever I was talking to my villagers in New Leaf, or training my Litten in Ultra Sun, this console will always stay in my heart.
I miss the 3DS, but not just the console itself, the memories I made with it. While I and a lot of others now play the switch instead, the 3DS will always be in my heart as the perfect gaming device. I was 7 when I got my 3DS and I am sitting here as a 16 year old who still uses it to this day. I actually got a summer job just to buy all of the Legend of Zelda models of the 3DS. I learned how to install CIA stuff and roms which gave me a new reason to go back to it. Last year I remember sitting in my room and going through pages and pages of all the games I could download. I got games from my childhood on the original ds and games that I had just always wanted to play. Overall I think that the 3DS was the best thing for my developmental years. Even though I am still young, I look back and think about all the things I overcame because I had that blue super smash bros 3DS. I think of how I wouldn't leave the house without it at some points. That 3DS was the friend I never had and the friend I always needed. It's bittersweet to look back but also just sad. I'm not proud of everything I was back then but I am happy that Nintendo was their with me. I am proud to say that I am who I am because of how Nintendo made me feel less alone.
This song makes me feel a current way. One that is indescribable. It’s doesn’t make me want to tear up like others, but gives back memories of childhood and nostalgia in a way doesn’t make you feel sad, but more why did life feel so good back then. For my birthday when I turned 8, I finally got it. So Nintendo, thank you for all the memories over the years. I’ll never forget how much joy your product gave me. ❤

One of my favorite consoles, childhood memories bursting back at me. You will always remain in my heart, 3DS. Even years after the nintendo switch, I played games on the 3DS, and it introduced me to some of my favorite games that happen to be super underrated like Miitopia and Tomodachi Life. Luckily, Miitopia got on the Nintendo Switch, so even after I broke my 3DS, I could still experience my favorite game on the Switch. I miss you, 3DS

We still have our 3DS. The battery is failing, the shoulder buttons need fixing and because of the SD Card reader, functionality is limited, but it still works fine. It's still the same console, but nostalgia means something feels different. And this is just from the Settings, but it's still filled with attention to detail, and after a childhood of enjoying it, you appreciate that people worked tirelessly on this.
And the reason you're here, and you remember, and you're nostalgic, is because it worked.
I'm here because tomorrow it's my birthday, when I got my DSi XL which I've had for over a decade. I'm also nostalgic for this.

The 3DS family of consoles managed to do the one thing other consoles tried and failed to do. It finally made 3D gaming possible without the need for special equipment like a pair of glasses or a limited color palette.
While it wasn't perfect even at the start of its lifespan, it allowed us to feel like we were looking at animated, intractable dioramas when in the correct conditions.
Something about the 3DS made it feel like when the 3D was turned on I was actually in the game I was playing somewhat. It just felt more natural seeing 3D models in full 3D compared to viewing them behind a 2D focused screen. Like I feel like I could actually reach out and grab the models I saw potentially play with them as if they were figurines.
You have no idea how much I would look at specific models from my favorite games and wonder what it would be like if I had custom toys based off of the model I was looking at. Even a custom plushie based off of a 3DS model would've been interesting to own.
The 3DS may be discontinued and the eShop and Theme Shop may be closing its metaphorical doors on March 27th next year, but it's legacy will still live on via mods, hacks, homebrewed software and archives of every last piece of data the 3DS has to offer.
I was unable to experience many features of the 3DS for a few years. Like the eShop, downloading demos and online matches with other people from around the globe due to not having available Wi-Fi for a long time. But I'm glad I was able to experience a good portion of what the 3DS had to offer offline during the time I didn't have Wi-Fi.
I am so lucky to still have my 4 systems (Pikachu 2ds XL, Electric Blue reversed colors 2ds, original black new 3ds XL, and the blue regular 3ds XL) I am sad to see this system is no longer supported but I believe that it all ended on a high note. I will always cherish what I have and look to the future for when even the Switch will be old news. The problem with modern technology is that it keeps evolving, but it does so too quickly, not giving those around it enough time to smell the roses and enjoy what they have before it is over. Let us listen to this music and remember better times!

My 12 year old 3DS still looks as good as new. I remember how shiny and blue it was when I bought it with my first ever paycheck. I always took good care of it and kept it in a protective case. Kind of forgot it existed and it just sits in a drawer now, but hearing this music really takes me back to being 17 sat in my first flat playing that augmented reality game where you shoot faces of yourself. Only played a few games on it and only bought it for resident evil revelations, but what I would give to open up that box again and experience it all for the first time...

Back when I was a kid before my life went spiralling out of control, when I used to play nintendogs all the time because I hadn't had a real pet yet, that dumb baloon face game, shaking it up and down to get a pedometer score for the plaza puzzle coins, games like FIFA 12, a turn based ghost recon game and all sorts of games that to adult me are garbage but at the time when I was 10 were my life. Countless photos of my first ever dog that I would give anything to have today after she passed away over a decade ago now. It would come everywhere with me and I would play everything on it.
Me, my brother and sister all sold our consoles to get the money for an xbox One in 2015. At the time we didnt think anything of it but looking back at it now it was the most peaceful time of my life and I wish some way some how I could get it all back to live again, but like all memories the thoughts are all I have left.
My 3DS, my Wii and my 360, my Xbox One, were attached to so many memories I have never spoken of or talked to anyone about before because my life from the age of 8-22 has just been such a mess I am lucky to be alive but maybe one day when I have kids I'll be able to tell them about all the great stories I had from the rare bright spots of my childhood

Me too. Well, i still have my 3DS, but is dead, just that I keep it because of the memories.
My sister also had one back into the 2010s decade. Since she didn't used it anymore, she gave it to me.
For me I have the original 3DS the reason I kept this model is because of the 3D light and my games are split across three SD cards and since the newer model 3ds has the SD card slot underneath the back panel and I can't merge all my stuff into one card and I don't think using a screwdriver to switch between SD cards is a good idea especially because two of the SD card's aren't micro-sd

I have a 2ds but i'm saving up to upgrade to a new 3ds :) no matter what nintendo dose about it the 3ds shall never really die it shall live on in the spirt of the true golden age of nintendo
Man this is nostalgic. My 3DS has always been there for me, through good and bad times. It saw me Beat my first Pokémon game, it saw me get data lost. It saw me scrolling through the theme shop, wondering what theme to buy. This console will always be my favourite

I was so sad because I was just getting into miiverse and starting to use it, when it was discontinued. RIP miiverse! The 3ds will always hold a special place in my heart as my favorite console for its charm and fun!

i was born in 2009 and got my first 3ds in christmas 2015 and kept it for two years until the battery fully died, two years ago i got my white and red 2ds and played with it today i was scrolling through youtube and found this video, i am now going to grade 7 (year 6 for uk) in a week and had to hear it one more time before i do stupid stuff with my friends for the next 7 years as i have spent all my early school life studying.
Thank you Nintendo.

update: it’s been a year and i’m now in grade 8 (year 7) i was walking home and this popped up again. while i don’t goof off with my friends as often as i thought i would, i’m still glad to have them, as for my 2ds i’m very sad that the eshop is closing down, but i understand why. i still have it though. again, thanks nintendo, and thanks wafflesrlife for posting this, and thanks to everyone who ever had a 3ds. i wish you all the very best.

Got a Red 3DS XL gifted by my Aunt... i had such a blast taking it everywhere, playing tons of different Pokemon games, playing the Mii Plaza Games... now there he lies, one of the shoulder buttons is cracked, the screen has a very small dent, the left speaker is broken and the 3D glitches...
And yet
He still holds on, he tries his best to play all the games i ask him to, play all the Videos and show all the Images i took starting back in 2014...
Thank you Nintendo... Thank you.
This sturdy Beast has held through so much and is still working wonderfully...
The Switch... just doesn't give the same feel, its bigger, easier to break, has less charming design
But i guess, we should make the most of it, now that the 3DS is discontinued.

Bit of a long comment but as a kid, I had a DSi XL my grandpa bought me. It was the Mario 25th anniversary edition and I loved it. My mom has some shitty friends so... It was eventually stolen along with all the flipnotes on it and all my games. Shortly after, the 3DS came out. My mom and I were too poor for cable so I didn't even know what the 3DS was. My grandpa got me the cosmos black 3DS and I found it early so they just let me play it early. And that's where I really became a "gamer". So many memories with that thing... All the preinstalled apps, making friends at school with Street Pass, hell I didn't even know I was playing it half the time. I'd be on it in photos and not even remember. Occasionally going to a relative's house and having my Nintendo Video be refreshed with Bravest Warriors, Bee and Puppycat, Baman and Piderman, and Dinosaur Office... Playing Kid Icarus Uprising for the first time, my mom renting Kingdom Hearts Re Coded for me and then her friend eventually buying me Dream Drop Distance which immediately made KH one of my favorite franchises, getting Smash Bros from my dad on Christmas, randomly picking up the last collector's edition or whatever of Project X Zone on a whim alongside DKC Returns and Scribblenauts Unmasked and having X Zone become one of my favorite games of all time- the 3DS was an important part of my childhood. I am not afraid to admit that I cried like a bitch when I heard it was being discontinued. All the music is just different now. Like an abandoned mall. The eshop's last used music didn't sound like my eshop. Years ago, my 3DS' l and r buttons broke so i sold it and regretted it ever since. I bought a new 2ds xl and it just doesn't feel the same. I feel dumb for rambling on but it's just insane how important this thing was to me. My childhood wasn't the worst by far, but it was definitely awful. And yet the 3DS was always there for me. It was my one friend. I had it for years and it never left my side and then I ended up abandoning it. All the memories of the apps, and the games, and the themes, and those stupid fucking limited use demos. This will always be my favorite console. And I will always be sorry for leaving it behind. I was too late and now it's just another dead console. Can't help but feel like I'm partially to blame. I wish I could go back...

i remember the day i was sick in the car cause i was playing the 3ds, good times, mine eventually broke when i opened it up fully so i always had a half open 3ds which was impossible to play, so i eventually sold all the games i had on it.. it had mario kart 7, tomodachi, you know, the good stuff........

I still have my 9 years old nintendo 3ds, my 7 years old nintendo 2ds and my 5 years old new nintendo 3ds, my 11 years old nintendo dsi xl and my 14 years old DS lite
Still got my 14 year old ds, and even New Super Mario Bros (although I cannot recall when I got the cartridge)

It has been more than 4 years or so since I got my blue topped 3DS XL. It's still working to this date. This makes me want to cry.. I usually messed with the settings looking for Wi-Fi.

man, the memories, i remember deciding to trade my dsi with 15 games for a 3ds, and boy it was worth it, its been through many styluses and circle pads, i still have to this day, i wish we could go back man, even for a minute
