1:24 the white building is actually the Clemson Innovation Center where they test the Giant windmills for wind power. the Hunley is actually right across the street. The old Charleston navy base is on my delivery route

This sure brings back memories. That was Pier Mike where the submarine tender, the U.S.S. Frank Cable, was. My ship, the U.S.S. William V. Pratt (DDG-44), was often at Pier Papa.

Awesome, I was also on Pier Papa as a Corpsman onboard USS Sierra AD-18 aka Building 18 😂.

@@ShanntahnPininchula That's awesome, Griff. I went out with a girl named Shelly, from the Sierra. Shortly after that, her ship moved to Guam, I think.

@@donwinslow522 Ha wow she might have been on the Sierra the same time as me. I was on 87-89 and did a Med cruise. Charleston is a cool town!

Spent 3 years down here. 1985 - 88 aboard the Destroyer USS Nicholson DD-982. When I was there, one of the piers, Pier November I believe, had an upper and lower deck to it. Guess, seeing as Charleston is on the East coast, it's under water by now. Drones are awesome. Thanks so much for this.

You're welcome. Everything around Charleston is the same sea level wise. Some of the old Navy piers have degraded due to no maintenance.

Yeah, I got you. When you said there was no change I'm thinking that can't be, so I checked with NOAA. Sure it went up but only by a foot or slightly more .... not the several feet it would need to cover both. Visiting North Charleston became a part of my bucket list over the last several years. Anyway, take care.

Pier Zulu was the double decker pier.
Built 84-86 as the test pier for future Navy piers.
In the 2000-02 Norfolk got a couple of these piers.
I was on LHA-4 in 2002 when we moored on one of those types of piers. It was able to be done but manpower intensive.

I trust this guy cleared the flight.

Flying over unrestricted airspace requires no clearance.
