  • The requests to have implants removed is being driven by many factors and news story’s. However, significant misinformation exists about implant removal surgery, especially regarding Capsulectomy.
En Bloc Capsulectomy, Total Capsulectomy & Subtotal Capsulectomy.
What are they and how does it affect you?
In this educational video Dr Dona talks about all these important topics.
Implant removal with Capsulectomy is technically more difficult and problematic than initial implant augmentation, and carries greater risks. If you think finding a good surgeon to do your augmentation is difficult, finding a quality one to remove them is much harder.
Dr Dona has created a library of easy to understand videos explaining almost everything you need to know about a Breast Augmentation procedure.

Good to see the explant shift or choosing against implants! There is a lifetime of future surgeries ahead with breast implants that isn't discussed... aged implant exchanges, capsular contractures, weighted implant breast lifts, plus numbness, etc (not to mention the serious BII health issues).

I just removed my breast implant only after 2 years😢😢😢. I had so many symptoms of breast implant illness 🤒 few months after my surgery i started having breathing problems , Then gastritis, then sleeping problems. Chocking at night, headache, muscles pain, yellow looking eyes, edema, too much water in my face and body, short time memory lost, low libido, metallic taste in my mouth etc. I have been everywhere for check up. Lungs 🫁 MRI bone- doctor a million blood test and urine tests. It was very clear that i had breast implant illness. Because no one found anything anywhere. And most annoying was always feeling tried and week. I couldn't even climb the stairs without stopping 3 times for a break. I felt like a 30 years old leaving in a 70 years old body. It was terrible. After explant, i could immediately breathe without wheezing. Your the first doctor who even believed they is a breast implant illness. My surgeon was and is amazing, but he keeps saying maybe it is because of corona injection 😢😢 ja right 😢

Hi, Thanks for sharing your experience. I went today to visit my breast doctor and I told him the implant in on breast is feeling so tight, well the muscle around the implant feels so tight. I started not feeling good for the past few days. He told me to think about it and we can talk again about it this August, but I don’t feel so good and I think I should get it removed immediately. What do you think? Can you give me some advice?

Very informative and I watched the last video as well. I understand now that it’s difficult to remove the entire capsule because it’s attached to the chest wall. However, when you leave the capsule in, what happens when the patient still complains of breast implant illness? Have you ever had to leave the capsule in, knowing it was infected? What about the pain it may be causing which is why the patient goes thru the surgery in the first place? Have you ever left a capsule in, and then had to redo the surgery because the patient still complained of pain or illness?

Hi I found a video of someone who left her capsule in (surgeon recommended) . She said that her symptoms have greatly improved after 7weeks. My surgeon says if he removes capsule more trauma will occur, I have no breast tissue. I’m eager to see my outcome.

Thank you so much for showing and explaining in terms that we can understand before I get an explant. Will do my research and hope to get a surgeon as good and ethical as you in NY.

Thank you! That was absolutely the best information! I am having my implants remove, they are not under the breast muscle . I think only the capsules around the implant would be necessary to remove with the implant!

Thank you for the detailed explanation. I have a question about a deflated implant. When it is completely deflated can capsular contraction occur? And how serious of a surgery cannot be when replacing the implant?

I'm a touch confused. If the capsule creates and you do a replacement do you not take the capsule? Do you only take capsule when it's a capsule contracture
