Congratulations, you've just unlocked Flightone's SIM Mode 🤣🤣🤣. Great finding Mark. Keep well
I’ve seen this behavior with rpm filters enabled too. I’m glad someone else has brought this up. I’ve been talking to bf devs and blue Jay devs to see if anyone could figure it out. Thanks for bringing this to the forefront
Pretty interesting indeed! Thanks, Mark! 😊
I really hope 4.5 comes out soon... And better. 😬
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Great! I'll have to go check since I've switched from your UAV tech profile on my Chimera 7 to the Superfly one (for some reason doesn't have bounceback and zero throttle wobbles), but will need to check and make sure about the rpm filter. Thanks again.
Oh, those are your presets? Cool! Back into the hobby after 6 years.... Just maidened my new 7" build. Wow! There have been a few improvements, to say the least.
I thought it felt floaty when I first upgraded to 4.4 but the strange thing is that I had on the RPM Filter with 3 notches on🤷🏻 idk. Cheers Mate 🍻
When i have dynamic idle on my quad does not lift off the ground barely, this is with RPM filter on using 4.4.2. I have changed the dynamic idle value from 45 to 100 but theres not difference. I turn off dynamic idle and set minimum throttle to around 9k in motors tab it works. So apparently i cant not use dynamic idle...
I love uav tech
I have a Taycan that flies fine for normal use but on a windy day when lowering throttle it feels like the wind is picking up one corner and making the other motors spin faster so it does not appear to want to come down. One thing that helps is changing the direction flying into the wind, but I can also pitch forward more to lose altitude. Although I think this is a bad issue, disarming would not be the only option if the throttle did not go to 0. You could pitch forward to lose altitude before disarming.
What fc does this happen on? I have had it on 2 hm cross f4s with bmi. I can’t figure out the cause from a tune perspective. I tried disabling dynamic idle but it still happens, especially on a windy day… really looking forward to a solution
@@JALFPV It’s a Succex-D mini F7. I don’t think the issue is the flight controller in my case. I think it’s the frame design. The Taycan wasn’t designed to fly outdoors on windy days is all. I think the cause is the large foam pads getting caught in the wind which is why changing direction a little helps.
Hey Mark, whilst you're there and if you know: for bluejay esc software settings on my 4s 5" freestyle rig, I seem to have inherited a minimum startup power (boost) value of 1025 and maximum startup power (protection) of 1100, but the recommendation seems to be to drop these to 1010 and 1020 respectively (for safety of equipment purposes i.e. in case of crashes etc). Does this sound like the thing to do?
I noticed this bug, which I think is around the bidirectional DSHOT changes. I found that the bug goes away when I used normal idle (not dynamic). I could still use RPM filters that way.
yup. but i want to use Dynamic Idle with NO rpm filter. Damn it. 😞
I build my first 7inch and it was also the first build that i have dabbled with dynamic idle, on 4.4.0 of course.
I always hated how it felt like a hot air balloon, but I thought it was just rhe nature of a 7inch lol.
I changed it back to 4.3.2 last week, with dynamic idle at 25, completely different animal now. Didnt realize it was because of a bug, nice to know that now 😂
Thanks Mark,
As you said (unless I misunderstood you) there’s a workaround as long as the RPM Filter is enabled under the PID Tuning Tab?
correct.
@@uavtech Thanks for the clarification Mark.
Great video. Definitely helps me. Any idea why when airmode is enabled(In configuration tab)my micro flips out on arming(with bidirectional dhot enabled). I disable airmode and quad is fine. I'm on 4.2. Can't figure it out. Thanks
How much disabling rpm filter and adding more dynamic notch filters improve the delay? It's quite interesting to see is it significant number?
Check motors outputs
it is a bug. it is not motor output limits.
Hey Mark is this fixed in 4.4.3? Can I turn off rpm filters in 4.4.3 for dynamic idle?
I have a question, might sound dumb but, are the gummies we use on flight contollers to reduce vibration alter the noise frequency?
What I mean is lets say we have a quad with rpm filter on and the motors vibrate at X frequency. RPM filter will take this X data and put its notches on that frequency.
But if the gummies are altering the noise maybe flight controller is getting vibrations at x-60 frequency. Than RPM filter notches will be on the wrong frequency right?
If that is the case than would hard mounting the fc be better? So that it gets the same vibration with the motors and rpm filter will clean exactly that noise frequency the FC is getting?
just brainstorming ....
@UAVTECH do you know what release fix this issue?
4.3
I never used dynamic idle. Believe it or not I idle up in betaflight.
On my whoop my props stop when using dynamic idle. Never saw this on my bigger quads even using a nice high setting: 75 on a 2" whoop.
that's weird. maybe RPM setting too low?
@@uavtech Yeah strange because with dshot idle set to 10 it idles around 5000rpm and they don't struggle to start even far lower then that. When I set dynamic idle to 75 I'm seeing the braking motors stop. Especially with air mode on.
@@DriftaholiC if its the betafpv 12a aio v2.2 its got a bug i had one with it on all bluejay versions. I take off and it works fine for me no stalls. Just waiting for new blujay version.
i had some old plane 180mah (11g) 2s lipos lying around and used motor output limit on my 702 32000kv whoop and its just as good without the start up issues. + more torque!
IF you don't have airmode activated and motor stop is on, do any of these even make any difference/matter?
No
@@uavtech No wonder none of these issues have been affecting me (despite having dynamic idle active, as I never fly using airmode - weird but I've never had a drop out due to 0 throttle etc, so never activated airmode for flights)! I do have rpm filters on so I should be ok even if I use airmode.
I noticed this long time ago and quit using it immediately.
is this still the case with 4.5? I upgraded recently but it still fells very floaty…
i just tested yesterday, and it seems to be fixed. If you log and see motor commans drop below 15% at idle while flying, then it is not this issue.
@@uavtech thx a lot, will do!
Was it fixed in 4.4.3m
4.5, yes
So leave rpm filter alone, got it.
my solucion was re install the supafly preset.
it's a bug, not a preset related item.
I saw this 15%...
Is there a relationship with rise up throtle during dives ?
no, this was just with flips and rolls. Even with throttle blips you can tell that there is something off as motors don't spin down. Only do to 15.01%.
@@uavtech If my 7 inch with rise up throtle during dive a mountain I leave more than 15 percent throttle during the descent the problem disappears. On all my 7 inches and all betaflight versions.
@@Skyrider82 check your yaw gyro signal and input. In many cases, your 7" is wanting to yaw sideways, and the FC is spinning p some motors to prevent that from happening.
Wow.. thankfully i only disable dyn notch and use rpmfilter only in my apex quad.. not vice versa
Thankfully I don’t use Dynamic Idle 😊
was this an issue before 4.4?
not that I know of.
I had a situation on 7inch Mark4 (chinise copy), that RPM + 2 Gyro cause fly away. But if Rmp or Gyro was turn off, it was much better.
There's another bug with Target Diat/Mambaf722_2022a (stm32F7X2)
No gyro shows up. I had to manually set the gyro in the cli.
manufacturer doesn't have the default right. did you p9st to BF for the setting that needs to be added to the default file?
@@uavtech just did so! Thanks for responding.
