if you use scrap account, you have to debit abnormal gain a/c and credit scrap a/c (40 units x scrap value) to reduce the profit from abnormal gain to cover back the 40 units that was included as normal loss unit to deduct the total cost at the beginning.
i was confused so i hope it helps.

Why scrapt value per unit is equal to material per unit =)))?
U can't have material itself to undertake all the cost alone.The resources which had produced 1k prouction include Materials,Labours and Overheads.Thus you should use the sum of 3 resouces to cover 1k production,so 1k production=M+L+O=40500
