Canon G7X vs S120 Which is The Best YouTube Vlogging Camera 2016 ?

- Опубліковано 23 січ 2015
- We review the Canon G7X and compare it to the S120 and test how the two popular powershot high definition video cameras perform day and night vlogging in London. We do an unboxing of the camera, install the battery NB-13L a memory card and then hit the streets of London and vlog with it during the day and in low light at night and compare the sound and audio of both models. The G7X also can video in 60fps full 1080p HD - most reviews compare the G7X to the Sony RX100iii but we thought it would be interesting to compare it to the S120 instead to find the best vlogging camera 2015
The battery life of the G7X is a considerable improvement on the S120. The compact nature of the cameras means compact batteries, they will take still photos for days but the S120 will only film continuously on one charge (with a genuine battery in good condition) for just over 30 minutes. The G7X films continuously for 16 - 26.30 minutes depending on settings & conditions and will film for around 1 in total hour on one charge. I purchased a spare battery when I ordered the G7X, having always used Canon compacts to vlog, I was aware how long battery life was in previous models and I didn't expect such an improvement. I'm sure it will come in handy to avoid down time as charging time is also much longer.
Best youtube camera cheap is a popular search term as is best youtube camera ever and the S120 is arguably a good candidate for these titles if your budget excludes the G7X

i wish more people do videos like this because people do more talking then showing and you did both, thank you
I totally agree
This is a really great review and comparison! Thanks!
Hi! I'm Emily Thanks! Glad you found it useful. Are you considering a new camera?
super helpful. most youtubers edit the settings on their camera and then show us those results but you just did it right out of the box which is what i was looking for. thanks a bunch
Thanks! Glad it helped
thankyou so much for the review!!!! you have done a brilliant job!!
i am so glad that I found you on youtube!!!
Amazing job with this whole video! The g7x is an outstanding camera, very well-exampled from what you've shown. The s120 is more suitable/affordable for me personally, but this video is VERY helpful for everyone trying to decide on which camera is right for them. Thank you sir :)
Thanks for this great comparison. You helped a lot!
.
Thank you for covering so many different aspects of these cameras. Great video. Subscribed.
Thanks for watching! Glad you liked the video
Thanks for having something to say, taking the time to articulate it well! And thanks for taking the time to demo both cameras in so many different environments.
Hi! Joe Laskos Thanks! glad you liked the camera comparison and demo.
Incredibly helpful video! Thanks for making this.
HI! David Di Franco Thanks! Glad you found the video helpful.
Best video I've seen on UA-cam Thanks for sharing
Hi! latasha montgomery Thanks! Glad you liked the video - thanks for watching & commenting.
One of the best comparison review videos I've seen. Well done and keep them coming.
HI! dwill123 Thanks! Glad you liked the review.
This was a genuinely thorough review which included everything I would want to see. Great work!
HI! TorAthena Thanks! If you are thinking of purchasing a G7X I made a follow up vlog to this on my channel detailing some of the challenges I found using the G7X and the simple solutions I use to overcome them which you may find helpful. Best wishes with your channel
Great video! Thanks for sharing :)
Very nice...I just picked up a G7X for the "around the world" vlog I'm starting very soon. S120 as a backup.
:D
Hi! +jory.io Thanks! Best wishes with your travels - its a great pair of cameras to travel with.
Thank you so much for this great review! I definitely need to upgrade as well. Keep up the great work!
HI! Jan Knüsel Thanks! Glad you found the review helpful.
Very informative. Thank you so much for your comparison of the 2 cameras.
Good stuff Robert!!! Well done! Just the kind of review I needed!!! :) One thing I can't find on the internet... Can I plug external mic to it? :) Thank you for the hard work and all the best. Maybe we meet one day as I am in London as well. :)
HI! AdviseMyStyle Thanks! No neither the G7X or the S120 have external microphone plugs just their in built mics so filming in certain conditions with them can be tricky.
ROBERTS LONDON Heeeeyyyy!!! Thank you for the reply! :) I'll just wait with my purchase till someone does the camera with external mic plug. I've seen Canon EOS M3 today, but it is too big and quite bad reviews about it. :)
Just a Great Great review!
Hi! Okay Salt Thanks glad you found the review useful
This is a really well-made review video! So educational and concise, I certainly got a lot of great info out from it!
HI! ELLWIS Thanks! Glad you found the review helpful. I made another video on my channel about the G7X after a couple of months of using it vlogging detailing some of the challenges I had using it initially and the solutions I found helpful to overcome them. If you get one you may find it helpful also. Best wishes with your channel :)
This was an excellent review. Placing my order for the G7X now. Thank you very much for this video!
Hi! Becky's Make-A-Day Thanks! Its a great camera - Best wishes with your channel.
Thank you! really helpful!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the vlog!
super helpful! cant believe im watching this at 2016! haha! great video! really helped in pointing out differences! im torn apart on S120 and G7x and more over there is the new G7x mark ii!
Thanks! Glad you liked the video
Hello
which dd you decide?
Christopher Zazueta if i got more budget- def will go to g7x/ g7x m2.. sadly s120 is the only one i can afford at the moment- my own christmas gift for myself 😜
Oh I hear you! I know its tough & so many different options. Trying to figure out which I'm doing.
Christopher Zazueta
Awesome video. One of the best comparison videos. You've obviously put a lot of time and effort into this. Keep it up buddy
Thanks! Glad you found it helpful
Great review man. Thanks for making it. And I like the way you tel tell people that cameras are not everything (I've been obsessing in research about what to buy...I use my phone now) when telling a story, making an interesting video is more important for viewers.
HI! +True Mexico Thanks glad you liked the review. Yes the main thing is the content and you can get a long way starting out with a phone. The cameras will give image stabilisation and improved image quality over most current phones but they are less compact. I hope they have added image stabilization to the standard size iPhone when it is announced next week.
Technologically speaking, the G7X and S120 aren't even in the same league despite their similar physical appearance. The G7X has a much larger sensor than the S120, so it's superior low light performance should not come as a surprise. What is most impressive to me when comparing these two cameras is how close in performace the S120 is to the G7X while only costing half of what the G7X does. I got my S120 for $275 (USD) last week and it came with two extra batteries, an extra charger, a soft case, and a 16GB Class 10 SD card. The best price I could find for the G7X was $570. And that was just for the camera alone. I'll take the S120 at less than half the price of the G7X any day. Because if I'm going to spend that much on a point and shoot, I'll get the Sony RX100 mk III over the G7X.
HI! Rat Island Crew Yes you are right and it is a point I try to touch on in the video, the G7X + spare battery costs approximately double the price of an S120 right now, the G7X is better to varying degrees in different scenarios but not twice as good. Its true of all technology and in fact most things you can buy, percentage increases in price can be matched in quantity but are rarely matched by equal percentage increases in quality and the higher in price you go the more the increases diminish.
And this is an interesting point because many reviews find the G7X & RX100 M3 very similar for video but the RX100 M3 slightly better for still photography, however the RX100 M3 in some country's costs around 30% more than the G7X but its not that much better.
ROBERTS LONDON This is a great point. Glad you touched on it. I just purchased the S120, and so far I love it. The G7X looks outstanding here, but the price difference for me was too much to go with the G7X. And, BTW, I think your video may have convinced my wife to go to London instead of Hawaii on our next vacation. Good work!
i would say that S120 is the best with me coz first it have the cheapest price and it has a good audio quality for vlogs but a little bad for quality for filming but still the best ! thanks for this ! I'll probably buy this
Thanks for commenting! Glad you enjoyed the video
Wow! This video cleared all my confusions. Great amount of time and efforts to bring such a video. Much appreciated. Thanks alot :) Missing London! :(
Thanks! Glad you liked the video
A brilliant well detailed video & comparison of the cameras. I now have the Canon G7X, which I have now used a few times at home (UK), as well as Croatia and other places. Great quality features and photos and really glad I purchased this. THANK YOU for sharing, even though it was years ago!! A+++
Thank you so much for your Review! I am currently looking for a vlogging camera.. A huge 'con' of the GX7 is the price.. :/ It's about 500€ which is quite a lot :/ At many times you're not focused with the GX7 during the 'selfiemode'.. :/
I think I will purchase it on Amazon, test it and maybe sending it back afterwards.. Thanks! :)
HI! DominoKati Thanks! Glad you found the review helpful. Now I have been using the G7X for a while I have found the autofocus takes a little longer than the S120 to switch focus to my face and that means changing the way you film which is something I'm still getting used to. It is easily overcome you simply have to pause for a moment before you begin speaking and allow the camera to focus on your face before you begin speaking or the start of the shot will be out of focus. If you watch recent MoreZoella vlogs it will demonstrate what I mean in longer shots than mine, she often does not give the camera enough time to focus before speaking so the initial second or so of each clip looks like a soft focus transition but its just the camera is out of focus, but then it quickly finds its focus just not as quick as the S120.
ROBERTS LONDON Oh that's great! Thank you a lot! :) I will check that out, too!
ROBERTS LONDON i was so happy to read that you mention Zoella's vlogs :D anyway, thanks for the review! very helpful.
Kati🌸🌸🌸😊💕💕💕💕
DominoKati hello Kati, did you eventually buy the g7x camera? x
Excellent Review!!
Hi! +KiKi L Thanks! Glad you found the review helpful.
You're welcome !!!!
You know I'm a big fan of your videos and this one is no exception. Nice to see your very scientific comparison. As an aside nice to hear Big Ben ringing in the background of the one on Westminster Bridge. I'll be missing it for the next few years. Thanks.
Thanks for watching! Glad you liked the video
Your channel is great mate. Im londoner living in Atlanta Georgia USA. Miss london so much and your videos bring back great memories.... I was a city boy working on cheapside, milk street etc. Family were wholesalers in the old covent garden market and the other side on the print in fleet street. Thank you thank you!!!
Thanks! Glad your getting a taste of home from the videos
Thank you very much! As I see, G7X is not well focused at all at the selfiemode regime. This is not good.((
Hi! +Lipo4kaBeauty It has slow auto focus which takes a while to get used to - but once you learn how to work with it - its ok
hi. what about eos m10 compared to g7x? :)
thank you so much for this awesome review of the s120 & g7x in different lighting! this helped made my decision much easier! thank you!
+Mayly Yvang Thanks - glad you found the video helpful
Finally, a decent review... Simple, clear, perfect. Cheers for this...Hugely appreciated!!
thanks! glad it helped
Hello, Thank you for the review, found it very helpful!
Only downside : I want a G7X now! aha
but it's around 600€ in France :(
In a way, it would help me improve the quality of my videos so.. I guess I'll have to save (a lot of) money!
xx
Hi! BonjourLovelies merci beaucoup! Glad you found the review helpful. The quality of the G7X is fantastic for a compact camera and I can see the pop up selfie screen could be very beneficial for producing beauty style videos and vlogs like the ones you make. Best wishes with your channel.
ROBERTS LONDON Merci beaucoup ! Best wishes with your channel and thanks again for your reviews
what are peoples opinions on how this camera works for still photography?
Thank you very much !
Great vid / demo.
I have the S120, and is very happy with it.
HI! +JackFuzz73 Thanks! Yes the S120 is a great vlogging camera - its a good size. They have launched a new model the G9X which has similar spec to the G7X but nearer the size of the S120 which should make it super popular - but being new its still at a price that make it a considered purchases.
I just wanted to say thank you for the video! I've read a ton of the comments and your responses and I just wanted let you know how impressed I am at your effort to respond to the comments. Something I need to be better at on my channel :) I want the G7X BAD but after watching your video I think the S120 will get me through what I need it for for now. Thanks again and keep up the good work.
Hi! Abby Smith Thanks! Glad you found the video helpful. Yeh - I try to respond to all the comments & questions if I can even the bad ones, but many content creators don't. I find it strange when youtubers talk of community & even "loving" their subscribers when they don't take any serious amount of time to engage directly with them beyond a one way dialogue in their vlogs - I'm sure for big channels even a semi automated pasted thank you would be appreciated. But for me the community aspect is equally as important as the videos, the human interaction keeps it real and not just virtual.
The S120 is a fantastic vlogging camera, probably the bench mark camera right now so its a good place to be, beyond the S120 the increases in quality are not equally matched by the increases in quality so it comes down to budget.
Best wishes with your channel.
how long is the battery life for the s120 & the g7x btw?
+Mayly Yvang on average total recordeing time for s120 is about 20 minutes and G7X nearly 1 hour - seems to largely depend on how much you flex auto focus and expose by changing location & light during filming
Great video. I'm looking at my 350HS crying. G7x videos looks amazing.
+Shean M Hows the 350hs? I was about to get one this evening, its 20 mexapixel and 1080 p for under 200$ it doesnt get better than that lol.
+LifeProductionz the 350 took great pics and video during the day. But I use it for a lot of low light videos so I returned it and went with the s120
how is it for vlogging?
+Shean M It's definitely worth saving up! I'm very satisfied with my G7X. I am using it for vlogging
But the audio sucks
Great review! Thank you so much for helping narrow it down. 😊
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video
Was trying to decide between these 2. Your video was really helpful.
Thanks.
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed the video
I noticed the G7X took longer to focus on your face than the S120
HI! +Maya Nelson Yes the G7X has slower autofocus than the S120 - there is another video on my channel about the auto focus
+ROBERTS LONDON Would love to vlog my trip here in August and also at Twitch Con when I go in September. This Canon looks great. But I want something that will last me a long time. I don't want to have to get a new camera for at least 7 to 10 years maybe more. Depending on how long Canon's last. Let me know what you think. Thanks for your reply. Great video and you earned a subscriber.
+ROBERTS LONDON Doctor who that is all I can say right now you lucky dog. I know your not a dog but that is what we call each other here in America sometimes lol. Even if we don't know you we say you lucky dog. Don't know if you knew that or not.
Can the s120 be connected with wifi too?
+Ging soliven Not sure if you've found out the answer or not but no, the s120 isn't capable.
+Ging so liven Yes, it slow but after 10 minutes of trying you can connect it to your phone with the app.
MiteyMax9
Yes
By far the best review I've seen so far! Thank you!
+Amber Underwood Thanks! Glad you liked it
Perfect clarifications and examples. Thanks for your very helpful videos Robert.
+Mirsad Husi Thanks!
Haha. I think the iPhone 5S looks better than the S120.
HI! MystoHD In most situations the iPhone is a fantastic camera and I still use it to capture quick video clips that feature in my vlogs all the time, but at night in the city the S120 performs does better and the low light performance of the G7X is outstanding.
MystoHD Maybe if you can hold the iPhone very still, but the 5S doesn't have optical image stabilization like the S120. Apple only added OIS to the 6 Plus. When you're walking around vlogging, the point & shoot cameras have a clear advantage.
Hi! Lupin788 Yes your right the canon compacts do have advantages over older phones and I really expand on this topic in my latest vlog about the G7X. The iPhone 6 plus is a serious blow to the compact camera market, it makes many previous generation cameras completely obsolete. Luckily for vloggers Sony make the iPhone camera components so they are well aware of this and are really upping the quality of compact cameras to keep them relevant over and above phones, which is great for vloggers looking for a little higher quality.
MystoHD
Im a vloggher and i have both iPhone 5s and S120, so trust me: S120 is better by far in every condition :-)
Hi! Terence Granchester Yes the S120 is an improvement in quality especially in low light over a phone & the G7X is an improvement over the S120. But my point is they are not necessary improvements to get started and if you watch my latest vlog I prove it by shooting it using an iPhone. But as I discuss in my latest vlog I think its important for every vlogger to aspire to get better equipment in order to shoot the best quality they can, but it is also important to understand it is not the key to success. Apple use Sony produced cameras in the iPhone and they are both striving to replicate DSLR quality so I would imagine in just 1 or 2 generations of the iPhone they will equal the quality of the S120. This is why they are producing super compacts like the G7X, because phones have made lower priced cameras obsolete, meaning manufacturers must concentrate on the top end.
I wish every person reviewing cameras would do such a detailed job like you did in this video! Appreciate this very much! Great job.
Thanks! Glad you liked the video
Great video, Robert! Thank you. Very informational and even inspiring. Much appreciated.
HI! +Jeremy Stock Thanks! Glad you liked the review - I hope it helped if your looking at new camera equipment - best wishes with your channel.
I'm leaning towards the G7x, but might end up just going with a dedicated camcorder... I'm still unsure.
Excellent helpful video and advice. Nicely done
Your review is very useful. Thanks for taking your time to help us choosing.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video
That was a good video, very well edited and you can seriously tell the difference!
Hi! Benjamin Mercer Thanks! Glad you liked the video.
Very helpful review, thanks. I've already bought a G7X. I like it, but the autofocus does click. I also find it quite slow to focus in on my face when I'm talking to camera. It's been great in low light and the mic works well in one-to-one interviews with a lot of background noise.
HI! +Howtogetfluent Thanks! Glad you found the review helpful - once you learn to work with the G7X its great. Auto focus on many compacts has that clicking which usually gets increasingly louder as the camera ages and the autofocus wears - but its usually easy to remove by dropping the volume a touch in the edit and if its quiet and really notable you can even EQ the sound to focus on voices.
thanks for taking the time to do the comparisons, very helpful. just purchased the G7X
Hi! Rick Blagg Thanks! Glad you found it helpful in your decision. I've made a few videos and vlogs with the G7X now and still very happy with it.
Thanks for the video. I was thinking of getting a S120 and wondered about the G7x.
Hi! +PurdyBear1 They are great vlogging cameras
This was the best one I've seen. You helped to make up my mind so thank you.
Hi! Mitzi An Thanks! Glad you liked the video & found it helpful.
Thanks for being so upfront at the beginning of your review. Watched all of it anyway. :)
HI! +Sallie Bean Thanks! Glad you liked the video
As many others have said, great in-depth review - wanting to purchase a new compact and this video has helped to make me think it will be the G7X, will also subscribe on the strenght of this great video - thanks for posting
Hi! JohnRichard Hayes Thanks! Glad you found the video helpful - Thanks for subscribing.
love the review and the G7X is looking like the one for me. You took your time to show and compare to help us. Thanks
+BEE FONTAINE Thanks! Glad you found the review helpful
Great review - just what I was looking for. Thanks :)
Hi! blackboardreviews Thansk! Glad you liked the review hope it helps if your considering a new camera. Best wishes with your channel.
Thanks bro...I did like the BGM and also the way you compared. The city of London is awesome. Hope I might get a chance to visit in the near future....
Hi! Murali Krishnaa Thanks! Glad you like the review! Yes I live in London so I film most of my vlogs here, its a great backdrop for them.
This review was absolutely amazing, thanks so much. Definitely sold on the G7X.
HI! JeremyyD1 Thanks! Glad you found the review helpful.
Great review. Thanks. Made me miss England!
We just posted our G7X ii review as well! My little man (2 months old) was my test subject. I can’t believe what a difference it made in quality!
Best video out there to compare the two, Have convinced me to look a bit more into the G7X now, only starting out but looking to buy a portable camera apart from my DSLR. So buy once buy right. THANK YOU :D
HI! DrewsLife Thanks! Glad you found the video useful. The S120 is the most compact and portable of the two if portability is key for you but the image quality of the G7X is better but the camera is also bigger. The G7X is almost identical in video mode to the Sony RX100m3 but Sony will very soon launch the RX100IV which will have 4k but it will only film in 4k for up to 5 minutes (probably due to heat dissipation issues over 5 minutes). I'm super keen to get 4k but the price point for one with other qualities as good as the G7X is around double the cost of a G7X right now.
Thank you for making a comparison as it was very helpful.
HI! +Emily W Thanks! Glad you found it helpful
Really needed this video and loved it! Thanks :) x
HI! +Typical Toto Thanks! Glad it was helpful
Love how you compare with video and audio👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed the video
Amazing review/video bro... Good job. This is how every review should be!
HI! +Sin The Rebel Thanks! Glad you liked the video
Really helpful. I'm thinking about starting vlogging on a new channel and if all goes well I might just invest in the G7 X
Thanks! Glad it was helpful
Thank you for the video...I too am looking at upgrading to a vlogging camera I hope within the next 6 months..have heard great reviews on this camera
Hi! +Jaime Thomas (Decordream) Thanks! Glad you liked the review. It is a great camera for vlogging especially hand held, I dont think anything has superseded it yet, The Sony RX100iv looked promising on paper but no image stabilisation and such short recording times in 4k was a deal breaker.
+ROBERTS LONDON yes it was great...I am really loving all the things I see with this...the few negatives I feel are not too bad if working around the mic placement and slower focus
Really great comparing. Really helped me pick which one i wanted (G7X)
Thank you so much for posting this video. It has greatly helped me with my decision.
HI! +lustforchrist Thanks for your comment. Glad you found the video helpful.
Thanks very much for the help I appreciate it! Keep up the good work
I've been shopping around and thx to your great tutorial I will go with the G7X, Thx for your time
HI! +kevonz1 Thanks! GLad the review was helpful
THANK YOU for sharing this review. It was EXACTLY what I needed.
Hi! Luxi Thanks! Glad you found the review helpful.
Fantastic review. You focused on all the points relevant to a vlogger, which is so hard to find. I also have to compliment your advice in this about doing the best you can with what you've got. I started with a FlipHD well after they'd been discontinued because it was all I could afford. I've since upgraded to a Canon Powershot ELPH 340 HS. I love it a lot, but I'm feeling that the time to take the next step might be coming about. I think that's what it's all about. Start small and see what you can do with it. If you wait for everything to be perfect, you'll be waiting forever.
HI! +Lindsay Mead (Daily Vlogger) Thanks! Glad you found the review helpful. Yes when I purchased the camera most reviews focused on still photography and the high profile vloggers using it were and still are moaning about being asked about cameras and equipment, so the aim was to make a review helpful for other vloggers.
Best wishes with your channel
ROBERTS LONDON See and I think that's just silly. I have a small section in my description box that links to my camera and my video editing software. I put it under my "uploader defaults", so I don't even have to think about it. If someone wants to know what I use, it's always there. On the rare occasion that someone asks in the comments, it takes me two seconds to copy and paste that info from description. We should be pleased when someone wants to know what camera we use. Most of the time, it means they like what they see.
I loved this video, so simple yet so informative. Thanks
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the vlog
This Review really helped man, good point of view for a vlogger :)
Hi! ***** Thanks! Glad you found it helpful. I made a second video more recently about vlogging in general but also some of the challenges I found using the G7X to vlog including the slow auto focus and the simple solutions I found helpful - so it it may be worth you checking that out if you are considering purchasing one.
Thank You so much for the review! Considering in buying the G7x
Hi! Cindy Flores Thanks! Glad you liked the review & found it useful.
Your video was Bloody well done my lad. 👍🏽
Hi! +maynardo Thanks! Glad you liked the video
I'm really interested in getting a G7X after this review, thanks!
Thank you for a fantastic review. You have saved me a lot of time and research.
Thank you.
Hi! +agimkhaled Thanks! Glad you found it helpful
Great review, this was incredibly helpful. Thank you very much!
Hi! +iAmErline Thanks! Glad you found it helpful
Great show of the features and comparison. I'm considering upgrading from my Canon Powershot A4000IS and saw one of my fav UA-camrs just got the Canoon G7X. I'm still thinking though. Lots of money compared to the $200 I spent a few years ago on mine. I'm also considering a Samsung NX Mini. I've never had a flip up screen or ability to connect via Wi-Fi, so that is an interesting element to explore. Thanks again. Love your accent!
Thanks! Glad you liked the video
Such a thorough, well done video. Thank you so much!
Thanks! Glad you liked the video
Hey thanks for this review, I've been looking at both cameras but can't really afford the G7X at the moment. Great to see the performance of both cameras! Thanks again 👍🏼
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video
very detailed and helpful. thanks.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video
You have made a great video. I have been using the S120 for about a year and a half. I have been disappointed with its ability to focus at night especially when a car or landscaping lights are confusing the auto focus. When I need to quickly capture a scene I forget or don't have time to do a manual focus lock. Your comparison night scenes in London are exactly what I needed to convince me that I need to get the GL7X. Your advice to push your camera to it's limits and that the experience you get will be invaluable, is so right on.
Hi! +brsenti Thanks! Glad you liked the review. The G7X is pretty good in low light - most of my recent blogs are proof of that.
Just the type of video I was needing. Great review thanks :)
HI! Emma Bailey Thanks! Glad you liked the review and found it helpful.
ROBERTS LONDON very helpful. I have now purchased a G7X and can't wait for it to arrive!!
HI! Emma Bailey Its a great camera for vlogging there is also another video on my channel which I made after filming with it for while with some tips I found helpful using it which you may also find helpful.
Thank you for such a great video! You've definitely helped me decide between the two :)
HI! Chi Thanks! Happy you found the video helpful.
excellent review thanks - I did notice in low light G7X was out of focus on your face for a few seconds at the beginning of each clip, maybe that could be got round by waiting a few seconds for it to catch focus.
Thanks! More videos about G7X autofocus are on this channel
Great video. Very tempted to get one just for the selfie screen as I have a6000
+Mihali Wheeler Yes the selfie screen can be very helpful for vlogging
Hey man great video and excellent comparison!! An extensive amount of information in this video really comparing both of them thoroughly. I was looking at digital cameras to make UA-cam videos, and my friend made the same point you made around 14:28, film with whatever you have and in my case it's an iPhone 6. Thanks again :)
HI! ayz01 Thanks glad you liked the video! You friend is right, your best camera is the one you have and with you, not the one you want with you. The iPhone is fantastic as its all the equipment you need to make a vlog, good image quality, portable, you can even edit using iMovie on the phone & then upload straight from the iPhone to UA-cam.
The iPhone 6 is a better all round piece of equipment than most vloggers with over 1 million subscribers started out with, however moving forward just like yourself everyone aspires to improve every aspect of whatever their doing given the opportunity, or at least should do. And better dedicated cameras will improve image quality, and editing software can produce slicker productions. But better equipment is not a substitute for hard work & practice or a source of better content (as you can see from my own subscriber & view numbers).
Your iPhone 6 is no excuse not to vlog, its all you need to vlog! so Best wishes for your channel & future vlogs!
Well done video. Thanks for making it!
Hi! +Fischer Holly Thanks! Glad you liked the review.
I found this very helpful! I've been thinking about saving up for a new vlogging camera cause the one I have now isn't very good at recording if there's low lighting and that's mainly what I was worried about when it came to this camera how good it would be at that cause I'd hate to spend so much on a new camera and it be the same when there's low lighting! So thanks for giving such a great review :)
Hi! Cailli York The G7X is amazing in low light - I shot a few vlogs earlier in the year on the streets of London at night and some in the dark alley ways of China town with no additional lighting and the footage looks brighter & lighter than it really was - I didn't adjust the colour or contrast when editing the night time vlogs because it wasn't necessary, but if I had they would look even lighter & brighter.
ROBERTS LONDON Wow! That's great to hear! Yeah, I'm totally gonna get one of these guys! Thanks so much! :)
