This song was so huge it ended superstar Janet Jackson’s eight-week reign at No. 1 on the Billboard pop chart (Hot 100). “Weak” bumped “That’s the Way Love Goes” the week ending 7/10/93 and stayed on top for two straight weeks. It had already started a consecutive two-week run at No. 1 on the R&B chart on 7/3, so it was atop both charts the week of 7/10.
Neat piece of trivia, the singer Coko in this group is the mother of Lil Tracy, who hasn't gained the popularity he deserves because his song "Like a farmer" is the "inspiration"(lil nas x basically stole it) for old town road, which gained the most popularity between the 2 songs. It's bad enough that her son didn't get that level of fame, but on top of that, he is still traumatized from the death of his best friend lil peep who he wasn't speaking to when he died. Dude is in and out of sobriety, and I couldn't say I blame him.
I wasn't born when this first came out but my parents still played it when I was little. I was born in 1993. I wonder if because of this music...as I was conceived in 1992. 😂😂😂

90's had the best of all music, it seems. Back then, I listened to everything from SWV, to Snoop/Dre, to Sarah Mclachlan, to Kenny Wayne Shepherd, to Alice In Chains...and everything in between. As far as I'm concerned, it was the most diverse generation of great music. There was good music for everyone who was into any genre, whether it was rap, R&B, pop, electronic, folk, singer/songwriter, blues, heavy rock, punk, grunge, or metal. I think the 90's was the last era of individuality in music. Now everything is so blended together, that you almost can't tell what genre of music you're even listening to. Sadly, as the music has become less and less diverse, so has my taste for it. At least I have the good ol' days to fall back on. I feel sorry for kids today, being that they're completely stuck with so little good music.
I lost my father in '93,when this song was rising to the top,it helped me get through one of the worst times in my life, driving between New York and Maryland once a week for 3 months! Here I am in 2023 and I still get weak!
Sincerest condolences. God be with you. It hurts like hell when we lose our parents, and loved ones. I lost my Dad in 2004 and Mom in 2019. I truly believe that somehow, they help us to keep on keeping on.
The arrangement of the song plus their harmonies was everything. This is one of those songs that will never die because it spans the generations. That's how epic it is..love SWV❤
@@nicolemyles7597 I'm glad that you feel that way about us black men my queen, not all of us are perfect but a lot of us are very reachable. A lot of our young women are being socially engineered through the media, TV, and movies to date white men. They are heavily promoting swirl couples targeting African American girls. These demons want to break up the black family structure; because they are afraid of black Unity. And at the same time they want to try to breed out our race starting with the black female.
I'm 14 and I love this song, and many others from the 90's. I agree with the older people that this kind of music should come back. This is way better than what's played on radios nowadays.
Back here after watching them live in Wembley Arena yesterday❤. Hearing SWV sing weak live was a whole moment!!! This will forever be one of favourite songs of ALL time!!!❤
Listening to this, thinking of my High School bestie, Kat, who took her own life 8 years ago today. We used to sing this, with our deodorant cans in front of my mirror. Well, hello there!)) I was "built"in 76 and released on "77". Best musical gap till i was "in mass production" up to 2000, ( with a few exceptions after that "))). Engine is pumping even better since. Through out all of the technologies and inventions, i must admit, kneel down and send all of my love and appreciation to the "REAL FUEL" that got me going on so well for all these years. The answer is the Purity of the "Fuel ", that unfortunately got so low, i mean Lower than Low. I am purely happy to appoint, that this True Soul Music is Absolutely AGELESS!!! And surely has no Borders.❤❤❤❤❤ If you had a chance and a will to finish this message, saluting to wonderful ladies of SWV and other flaming talents and inspirations, means that you have a Real Old School ❤ and Soul!! While diving into that beautiful era of music and sound of harmony, i will recall so many unbelievably heart touching memories 🔥😘 Stay Blessed y'all, love and respect are still exist, no matter who or where you are from!❤️

For anybody here after the Verzuz, or if you just love SWV, here’s a fun fact: “Weak” was written by Brian Alexander Morgan as a love letter to Chanté Moore back when they were label mates with Warner Bros. Also, Weak was originally meant to be recorded and sung by Charlie Wilson, but he turned it down and SWV picked it right up. Mind-blowing.

Ahhhh. The 90's... This is my jam!!! Hands down the 90's had the best R&B, & Rap! Take note kiddies. This is the shit....
I agree. I believe the 90s was the best era for R&B period.
eaux kei R&B, Hip Hop, & Rap :-D
lalalal dooo deeee daaa
My deepest condolences I'm sorry for your loss

I feel the same way about black men as well❤🥰🍫
@@nicolemyles7597 I'm glad that you feel that way about us black men my queen, not all of us are perfect but a lot of us are very reachable. A lot of our young women are being socially engineered through the media, TV, and movies to date white men. They are heavily promoting swirl couples targeting African American girls. These demons want to break up the black family structure; because they are afraid of black Unity. And at the same time they want to try to breed out our race starting with the black female.

While diving into that beautiful era of music and sound of harmony, i will recall so many unbelievably heart touching memories 🔥😘

Truth!!!!! She does have a unique voice. I've never heard anyone sing like her. But I'm wondering why the other group members only sang the chorus 🤔🤔🤔
Brian Alexander Morgan deserves massive credit for a timeless track like this! He blazed that album for SWV 🔥🔥🔥

SWV these ladies was killing the 90's the first album is certified classic. Every song on that album you can play
very few albums are like that. SWV does not get respected like they should my number one 90's female R&B
group.
They're just as iconic as TLC. The 90s wouldn't have been complete without SWV.
That Tittle goes too TLC
I agree SWV were needed . TLC were great, but totally different type of group. SWV were pure R&B not pop with soulful voices!
These voices are beautiful and contagious.
Reminds me of being 13-14yrs old (early 90s) and listening to this tape on my boom box on the beach with my girlfriends... no cell phones, nothing but a girl and her boom box ☀️

Thanks for this info...Legendary indeed!!!
Amazing and omg I can hear Charlie on this!!!
