I picked up the Klein Tools 65200 set around this time last year to add to my EDC belt pouch and it has come in super handy. It's not nearly as small as this one, but the finger ring helps a lot in tighter spaces. The included bits can fit into seriously tight spaces, and adding a standard quick-change bit holder transforms it into my go-to screwdriver around the house 👍

I think I've commented before on the leatherman ratchet that I'm not a fan of attatching stuff to the leatherman just because. Complicates a small tool without actually saving space.
But this is a decent improvement. Usable without the leatherman, but it's there if you need more leverage.

    • @fastandcurious
      @fastandcurious 2 роки тому +3

Yes, exactly. The Leatherman ratchet works like an extension. This new ratchet is just a short normal ratchet attached to a multi tool. To get to many screws, your would need an additional bit holder / extension. What is the purpose of the connection to a Leatherman? Where is the advantage?

  • @jamesnichols7507

Victorinox SwissTool Ratchet Wrench is about as small as you can go for close quarters wrenching. It takes a few orders of the extra short hex bits to cobble together a set of bits for those screws that are almost impossible to have access to.

The 711L tool is an interesting accessory for the Leatherman, which makes you wonder why Leatherman didn't come up with the idea themselves.

Nice video. Thank you. Quick FYI, all it's going to take is some uninformed TSA agent to measure your tool in a partially opened configuration that is over 7" to lose your tool. I've lost 2 full size bladeless tools so far while travelling for business. Had to rework my tool kit to use smaller options. Hope it doesn't happen to anyone else, but that's my experience. Cheers!

I had ordered: P.I.T. Impact Rated Hex Socket Driver. it's a nice 711L stand in until you can get your hands on a 711L ratchet. The P.I.T. comes with a fixed box wrench on the ratchet handle. My plan was to saw that off and mill the handle down to the Leatherman propitiatory flat 1/4" hex driver size.

    1. VIM Tools HBR3 - same as 711, but instead of Leatherman adapter on the second end has a fixed wrench which can take a lot of force applied

@@diezelle57 I have the VIM HBR3 micro ratchet and it's awesome, I have not seen it's equal. The Wera Zyklop is not equivalent, that is a square drive ratchet not a 1/4" hex socket like the VIM (and like this 711 tool). I find the 1/4" much more useful and versatile because it uses the same standard driver bits as all my drill and screwdriver bits, I don't even own any square sockets because I've never had a use for them. 1/4" bits are also much more compact.
I keep a spare VIM micro ratchet in case I ever lose or break mine, and I'm thinking about buying 5 more in case they ever stop making it..

This is manufactured for 7llL by HI-FIVE.
They make countless variants of their bit ratchet marked " Reverse gear " on the thumb wheel.
This is the same as the GM power torque or TOPTUL, but the handle is cut off and ground to fit a leatherman before it is chromed.
The standard version of this is far better in my opinion, because you get a drive in the end of the handle and because having a bit ratchet / driver that is seperate from my multitool is better.

I use it to work on airplanes, some panel screws are in ridiculously tight spots and this is the best, and lowest profile bit ratchet I've ever used. Even compared to the more expensive options.

Seems kinda pointless to me. That 711L ratchet isn't much smaller than the Wera micro bit ratchet, and given that you need to carry around the ratchet and a bit set, why not just have a dedicated Wera set? The only advantage of being able to attach the whole thing to a Leatherman would seem to be that you can then use the Leatherman as a very large and bulky handle extension. As far as I'm concerned, the whole purpose of a multi-tool is not to have to carry around a whole load of separate attachments. That tri-lobe bit driver does look useful, though - looking forward to the review of that!

    You really say nonsense:
    - you will be able to say that the 711L can be used at low torque (Nm = ???) when you have tested it at high torque on the Leatherman bit driver,
    - you know that the version sold on Amazon does not retain Leatherman bits under vertical force, only the "diegel" version of the 711L does.

    • @lastbesttool

Wow, that’s the “cutest” ratchet I’ve ever seen.

I've thought about this item a lot..in the end I realized it makes zero sense. I'll elaborate...the more I add to a multitool...the less sense the multitool makes in general. I think dedicated tools have an important place...and more often than not I find myself carrying dedicated tools when I have a larger kit...and multitools with no loose parts...when I want to go with less.

You should think better or much longer... The Ratchet Driver, the Bit Kit, the Extender, any sense? Do Victorinox wrench/ratchet sets make any sense? How do you expect a multi-tool to handle all sorts of screws etc. ?
The smart thing about accessories is to make them transportable by a properly designed multi-tool sheath or pouch.

Harbor freight, copy of the facon. mini bit ratchet is great.

    • @TylerSnyder305

Not a copy, just a different version of the same tool from the same Manufacture HI-FIVE who also made this one here.
If it says " REVERSE GEAR " on the thumb wheel they made it, theres too many variants for me to count and I find new brandings/ variants all the time.
Sure the most expensive versions of the sets include sockets, but they're still overpriced.
Hell MAC only offers the ratchet by itself.

Just an FYI that Wera is manufactured in Taiwan by HI-FIVE who manufactured this and endless other variants.
The thumb wheel is different but the rest of the mechanism is identical in function tooth count and quality.

I’m content with my 1/4” SnapOn that’s no bigger than my index finger. I don’t see any advantage to collecting yet another “thing” that needs to be attached to some other thing. I already carry tools, knives, guns, magazines…this would just end up in a drawer.

Thanks for staying on this. I found the bit grabber on the end silver SOG but nothing on the black one. However, the mini ratchet does not hold well in the SOG. In fact, it doesn't hold certain bits at all. I'll include it in an upcoming video to show what I ran into.

22 dollars is overpriced regardless of its quality if its low torque and for something that size

    • @TylerSnyder305
      @TylerSnyder305 2 роки тому +1

That's why you get the standard version that's available as a GM power torque from orileys auto parts.
The problem with this is just that your multitool becomes a cheater bar to overtorque the tool.
The regular version is what you want, they're as strong as you will ever need and you're not going to break it.
These are actually a high quality tool, the manufacturer HI-FIVE makes endless variants of their bit ratchets and you'll find truck brands like MAC selling them ( overpriced through them though).

How in the hell is this EDC? Anything requiring a ratchet is going to break that thing especially if you put that extension on it! I am seriously growing tired of these YT jockeys calling every toy they buy an EDC item. Just stop already!
