    I have to replace my blinker light in my ‘99 and this is a great find video.
    Appreciate your time for making this video. I just hope my hud isn’t a huge curve ball compare to your z06.

      Thanks for the comment. Hopefully the dash is the same on the 99.

      @@oisforoffroad your welcome but thank you so much for the video. UA-cam videos helped me fully rebuild my suspension into a 2004 z06 suspension and aid me with details regarding installing my a&a supercharger.
      I don’t think the hud will be too bad. I’ll just have to get it done regardless, lol.
      I love my car but my god I saw your 6 speed and I was jealous. My auto is fast as hell and great for cruising in my ridiculously bad traffic but there just is nothing like the looks and fun of a manual.

      I'm glad I have been helpfull. It sounds like you have a good setup. Autos are good for some things but a manual really brings out the performance in a vette.

    Nice video, definitely will save time looking for the hidden screws and bolts when removing the trim around and below the instrument cluster.

    Helpful video, thank you very much. Never considered LEDs? My dash light is slowly fading (bulbs) and I'm not sure if I should swap'em to something more modern.

    • @oisforoffroad
      @oisforoffroad  3 роки тому +1

      I thought of LEDs but at the time I couldn't find good info on which ones really worked. I didn't want to tear my dash apart multiple times so I just put in standard bulbs.

      @@oisforoffroad Right, because the thing to remember about LED's is that they only work the correct way.

    So all those bulbs are the t5? Because I’m planning on doing them because my check engine light bulb is out and just might as well replace them all so was just wondering if they are all the same

    • @oisforoffroad
      @oisforoffroad  2 роки тому

      From what I remember all the main bulbs were t5's. I think the general lights for illuminating the tach and speedo were different. I only replaced the dead ones because the plastic was fragile and I didn't want to break anything that was still working.

    thanks for the info-video.
    I have questions: what is the factory bulb? Is the T5 bulb too powerful/gets hot?
    I have searched the shop manual and cant find a "bulb" reference.

    • @oisforoffroad
      @oisforoffroad  3 роки тому

      Thanks for the comment. The T5 is the correct bulb for the warning lights. I replaced about 4 bulbs with T5's and they are still working great after 6 months. The T5's that i purchased gave off the same amount of light and heat as the ones that were in the dash before.

    7:58 , how do u remove those screws ? They keep spinning but nothing comes out

    • @oisforoffroad
      @oisforoffroad  Рік тому +1

      If I remember right, those go into the aluminum dash support. Yours might be stripped out. If you can get a flat screw driver under the head of the bolt to pry pressure while turning it, you might be able to get them out if they are stripped.

    The dashboard lights don’t come on my c5 at night would it work replacing theses bulbs?

    • @oisforoffroad
      @oisforoffroad  Рік тому

      If they don't come on at all your problem might be somewhere else. The chances are lower that all of the bulbs would go out at once.

    Can I replace the 1 to 5 gage bulbs without pulling out the cluster as you did?

    • @oisforoffroad
      @oisforoffroad  2 роки тому

      I couldn't get to them without pulling the dash.

    Can you remove the flasher switch with the cluster out?

    • @oisforoffroad
      @oisforoffroad  2 роки тому

      If you are talking about the 4 way hazard switch next to the air vent on the dash, I don't think so. It's been awhile since I had the dash off and don't exactly remember.

    • @oisforoffroad
      @oisforoffroad  2 роки тому

      I have my stereo out right now so I checked. It looks like you might have room with the cluster out to get to the back of the hazard switch.

    I've found several videos that show how to get the gauge cluster out, but no one addresses changing the DIC button bulbs. Frustrating!

    • @oisforoffroad
      @oisforoffroad  3 роки тому

      Once the dash is out, getting to those bulbs should be easy. Mine were fine so I didn't open that section of the gauge cluster.

    This looks very intimidating. Older plastic pieces on vettes break so easy! I’d almost rather pay someone to replace my bulbs.

    • @oisforoffroad
      @oisforoffroad  3 роки тому

      This is my first vette but compared to other used vehicles I've had throughout the years, the plastic trim and all the snap in tabs were in good shape.
