That's why research costs so much at Stanford. For those who don't know: all research institution need to add on indirect cost (a tax) for health care, vacations, lab space, libraries, IT, road repair, mail delivery, HR and safety personnel, etc. legitimate costs are still high, say 50% of any grant, and are reviewed constantly by government agencies.

Someone said college is the most cruel joke on the poor and middle class, chunning out unemployed debters in the millions every year around the world. I believe this more and more each day that passes now that i am an unemployed debter with fancy papers.
High school students need to look abroad. Oxford is $22,000 a year. University of Heidelberg is $17,000. University of Florence is $2,600 My girlfriend’s daughter went to school in Europe and travelled all over nonstop with the money she saved. She has no debt and amazing stories.

Don't confuse the US with the rest of the world. In many countries tuition is free or a fraction of the cost in the US. Many countries also offer a scholarship to everyone who has the appropriate secondary education.

This was going on in the early 1980s. The Stanford Sailing Club had a very nice classic wooden sailing yacht also bought and paid for under shady circumstances. It was docked at Pete's Harbor, Redwood City. The Sailing Club was a frat bro group that used the yacht to engage in horrendous and illegal activities. I personally witnessed it many weekends. The Sailing Club director was caught up in the Varsity Blues scandal but the same sort of antics had been going on for decades. Put every administrator involved in federal prison for at least a decade.
They will never be prosecuted, they are better than everyone else. I know very few Ivy League types that don’t shi* super premium ice cream.
