We’re I think Ford have made the mistake is yes dumping the fiesta and not having a reasonably priced Ev. Because let’s face it the mustang electric at between £40.000 and £55.000 plus is not cheap but then what has Ford done brought out the explorer and then the new capri all around that £45,000 to £55,000 price. What they should of done is bring out the puma Ev at around the£30,000 to £40,000 or less if possible. As I see it Ford are in competition with themselves plus I always thought Ford were aimed at the working man. He would need a good paying job to afford one. It also puts them in the same ball park as premium brands and that’s a brave move.
Ford’s mistake was not to already have a BEV Fiesta. Stellantis have been selling BEV versions of their B segment hatchbacks for years. OK , they aren’t great, but at least they have them and it’s a level they can pull for ZEV mandate. I’m looking forward to some incredible deals at the back end of this year Ford have their strategy completely wrong. Look at what Renault is doing with the new 5 and Alpine A290, imagine what Ford could have done with a new Fiesta and then a spicy XR2 version
It's clear that if Ford wish to remain in Europe (unlike GM) they will have to make a mass market EV, this is likely to be the Puma Electric, a Fiesta on stilts! Would be very popular with the private buyers. But they cannot afford to take the P on price, with current Stellantis offerings at £20-25k they will have to be there or not sell.
Manufacturers also seem to try and move car ranges up market, i.e larger and more expensive when a lot of customers seem happy with a small reliable relatively cheap cars
I still can't believe Ford created the Mach-E as a single EV, and not as a platform that could be used for other cars, such as the MEB platform for VW and the Stellantis equivalent. The Mach-E is a great EV but I suspect a loss-maker. Ford could've had a few SUVs out by now (yes I know SUVs are boring, but people buy them).
It may not be a bad move actually. Small cars have become ridiculously expensive. I went last December to get a quote for the Renault Clio and then I went to Ford to get a quote for the Puma. Guess what, the Puma was priced cheaper than the Clio.

You are quite right. Sadly I think the Puma will be priced well above £30k
Puma will without a shadow of a doubt be over 30k
