- DELANI “Step Aside” MAKHALIMA - The Man, The Music, The Dream
Step Aside! This wasn’t just a fancy pseudonym belonging to a record producer named Delani Makhalima. It was a feeling of hope and ecstatic relief that finally! a whole generation can now be heard. This series follows the story of that generation. Those who created something out of nothing and announced the dawn of a new era. That era is best remembered as the “Urban Grooves” era. Through a 5-part series we follow the story of Urban Grooves through the eyes of the man who was at the center of it all, Delani “Step Aside” Makhalima.
The series was produced by Intentionally Daring in collaboration with Phenomenal Media
This guy is a business man first and a producer 2nd. It's something you need to be born with or learn . Best interview I've seen from my countrymen. Zim music can go far but kna pasina anoziva the business side of things tinongoramba Tiri behind blaming eachother. Hope aspiring producers can take something from this interview. Classifying each other by tribal lines is a serious problem in our country
I think this was something that we really needed. Soprofound you really managed to give us answers to a lot of questions that we had. Its always good to get all sides of the story.
The passion in his voice when he's talking black empowerment...money not leaving the country 🤯
All this was done in 3 years 🤯🤯🤯

This whole interview worthy every minute I thank You
thank you Delani for the sacrifice ...we appreciate
One of the best interviews 👌. Thank you for recording history.
All due plaudits to the legendary Delani for his contribution to the music scene; that bears repeating and repeating again.
I, however, especially want to applaud the storytelling in this series. Both SoProfound and Delani are exceptional communicators. The framing around "The Three people I want to meet" by SoProfound and "Seven Kings" by Delani is narrative genius. Just...Bravo!
No lies detected

Potential Minister of Youth Sports and Culture ryt there

Delani is a rare breed thank you 🙏
Yes, professor Moyo also recorded an album or song called Back to Black, if I remember correctly. He is a very effective minister full of ideas and there are some who say he should replace Kirsty.
Came here looking for your poetry that inspires me so much.. But found this great history. You are a great legend Delani siyabonga

Always heard Decibel saying Step Aside achasvika and always knew there was a Delani who was Sani Makhalima older brother and Nonsi's husband but never knew who he was. Class!
Great 5 part series. Really enjoyed. The sacrifice and time that goes into building a career is a lot. Delani thanks for all the hit records and never giving up.. we need more doccies. Great work SoProfound.
Hats off to Delani for giving Zimbabwean urban music an identity and making history. True Legend. Shoutout to @SoProfund and the whole team at Phenomenal for doing this.

Cool dude
Yay! I knew Professor Moyo would be made a king.
Thank you for this important interview.
I think Delani’s vision was too profound for my fellow Zimbabweans
Great work so Profound, this is timeless,
God bless you for keeping the music history alive
the greatest urban producer ever
Without UA-cam I would have not known even a small fraction of this rich content. This is educative and much better than seeing Zimbos berating each other, for views and likes, on social media. The Channel owner(s) you did a great job and I tell you...madenha craving... I now want to explore the whole movement... bring all the surviving urban groovers, on the show, to tell their bit as well.
Thank's for the insight interview of Delani, back in time didn't have much detail information about what was going on and the reasons & decisions to quit urban groove industry, I had different versions of stories but thumps up for clarification. He truly deserves the honor and Award in Zimbabwe Music .You should make another Reunion project of the future album part 2. #SoProfound#DelaniMakhalima#StepAside RESPECT !! #FromUrbanGroover
Inspiring!

Wow the guy did open and created a big platform for many opportunities in the Music and Entertainment industry #RespectDelaniMakhalima bless you bro. #DelaniMakhalima #SoProfound #SoProfoundToTheWorld
Honestly I’m gaining more motivation and a different view on how to grow a movement
Woow what an insightful interview.Delani is indeed a genius. Also many thanks to you SoProfound,I like your style of interviewing, you allow your interviewee to express themselves without interjections which would disturb the rhythm.I enjoyed the whole series .
Thank you Thank you. That was really an awesome episode compilation. Most importantly I've learned to appreciate even more our music from where it began 🙌🏾
💯 on land ownership!
Respect to this dude
Delani is just great
Delani our legend
The reason why people, at least in Zim, don't buy music is because of a lack of disposable income. I believe there is a positive correlation between how good an economy is and how much people spend on entertainment. Unfortunately for Zim, it boils down to politics.
Well done, great interview
Delani makanyanya
It was all a dream;;;;;in Biggie voice.you changed the face of zim music industry.Salute KING.Our Local Timbaland/Swiss Beats/Kanye in one.Always wanted to work with you but unfortunately you relocated to SA,thus i shelved my then finished album..if its not delani then no one else kkkkk

Haaa ava chibaba
You ate at the same table with Zanu
Sometimes artists saw the money made but couldnt see the expenses...
Can they give this man an honurary degree already ....
nhasi ndichanakirwa nema interviews ese aya, from episode 1
This guy ant cheap.
He still wanted to talk why cut him off when u have been chasing him for years and then edit after.
The vision this guy has was bad news, if it was not for inflation and the economy rotting. We would have an international producer in Zimbabwe, vese ana nhingi ava could potentially been flying to Zim to produce.
Pamberi ne Land Delani
Great insight
Delani am going to create a wikipedia page for you using this information u have shared. I do hope you dont mind. You are a legend my guy
