As someone brand new to solar, I've watched a lot of instructional videos. Yours is one of a VERY few that actually mention that panels connected in series are more vulnerable to shading. It's also the ONLY one I've seen that talked about using parallel connections to orient one panel for morning sun and one for evening sun. Those types of practical tips are missing from so many videos, and yet are so valuable, especially to a newbie. Well done, and thank you!

The education you are providing here is a great thing. It is hopefully the future for so many more of us. And surely, solar for mobile use (such as the portable refrigerator) or for emergencies is both potentially extremely useful, and fun! But please don't forget to mention that large panels (or even small panels) permanently affixed to your house or garage, or even fed into your house or garage (and potentially connected to your house's electrical system) is covered by the National Electrical Code, which explicitly states that photovoltaic (PV) systems MUST be designed and installed by "qualified electrical professionals".
(While this may sound overly stuffy for those who are not engineers or electricians but who are well-familiar with what goes into a PV system, and home electrical systems in general, there are a variety of "fiddly" requirements regarding things such as mandatory electrical disconnect switches (to protect, for example, firemen), and with that, what is at possible risk is that if there is ever a problem at the house, related to the self-designed/installed PV or not, it could put your home's fire insurance coverage at risk, not to mention be a (admittedly unlikely) hazard to the home occupants.)

I have a 4500kw system grid tied that powers my well pump, dryer, fridge and produce more energy than I can use here in southern Oregon. The problem I have is that the SolarEdge inverter they installed just went out under warranty and was replaced after only 6 years. The next one is probably going to fail out of warranty and so I will be looking for something hybrid to add my own batteries all out of my own pocket. This is why solar videos are so great to watch like these here. It’s an ever evolving technology and my 6 year old system no longer has some of the price and limits to expansion it had then. Keep up these solar videos and I will be watching. Thanks.

Great video. Can you make another video, show how you hookup those solar on ground fixed? I’m try to do the same, but not sure how to do it? Don’t want hookup on the roof.

Great introduction to some basics. I like your "camping" approach. Learn how to charge your phone and run your tiny fridge and use this gear for camping. Once your comfortable with that, learn more and then extend your solar equipment. I've been using my DIY solar system for about a month. Receiving power from the sun gives one a wonderful feeling. I didn't think it would be so much fun.

I would definitely be interested in a storage/batteries video too 🙂

very informative video...cleared many things up.. And is this for your "trailer build" that we never see or hear about anymore???

Thanks for the walkthrough! Solar energy is clearly the future. Not only does it save our earth but reduces costs and reliance on the grid! Our technology allows customers to use solar energy to charge their EVs and power their houses in case of a blackout. We like to call it "Plug into the sun" :) ⚡⚡🔌🔌

It's on hold right now. Just getting things prepared. Probably the biggest thing is that baltic birch became super-expensive and then unavailable because of the war.

If it's a cloudy day stormy day depending how stormy it is yeah I make electricity and cloudy days less on more cloudy day get and they get really dark stormy cloudy days yeah I'm not really making electricity it's not lightning enough to make an electricity for it it's too late to make the electricity work but at night when I come home from work my headlights on them charges my solar panels and that's not a Mitsubishi's car yeah I got solar panels at the end of my driveway put it on the ground didn't put it on the roof and that's like an 14 ft wide stand oh I got another one in front of my house pretty much right beside the one that's 14 ft wide yeah I got two small sets of solar panels that would have been size solar panels actually on two different stands but I did order a bunch of 275 watts of pounds a few 300 watts solar panels and yes that would generate all the power I need for my house.

Why are you lying to people about how many panels they need I don't have 60 panels and the most powerful thing I have to run is my kitchen oven stove which is 3600 Watts a dryer is what 2,400 w how are you here it's 2000 Watts the rest of your house without running anything running 336 Watts that includes your dryer that includes your water heater and that's just for power to be there and you're having your clocks and yeah the rest of how she was about 1200 watts electricity if everything's running except your microwave us a 1700 Watts electricity or at least my old antique microwave does and my refrigerator while 1,500 watts does not run my refrigerator because it will not run my refrigerator because my refrigerator says I need my power. For someone who buys two 320 watt solar panels maybe you should have bought eight of them hook them up guys have a good battery Bank got yourself a good converter hook it up to your house and see how long you can laugh well you probably needed to converters go with grow lock converters or EG 4 converters could have bought a few of their batteries eg4's batteries they only cost $200 more than a converter of course if you bought five of their batteries most people would not use more electricity than that in the entire life each month that it can generate each month through each day that it generates it. And most people can look at the electric bill and see that they used so many kilowatts a month which just shows that you're lying about how many panels you need. Oh by the way I do have solar panels and I do not have 60 solar panels but I would like to have 60 solar panels I think the electric company would like to give me money for having 60 panels because I could sell them the electricity and it's not going to be 320 watts I just bought 24 275 Watts adds up to 6, 600 w electricity DC which runs into my chargers what you're running to my batteries which are running to my converters what you're running to my house if I need more electricity than that there's got to be something wrong because my electric bill says the most I use in one month time is 7.2 KW well 6.6 KW is almost 7.2 KW well if he had up 7.2 KW that's 14.4 KW and 2 hours and that's if they power use 100% of the electricity from the solar panels. But I will never know that much cuz my solar panels are charged by about 9:00 in the morning so the Sun never really fully shines on my solar panels before my solar panels beg me for more batteries cuz it never having a batteries for the solar panels to charge yes I use a load all day long and so it's charging it 5 or 10 or 22 amps but it wants to charge it I don't know how many amps is a bunch of solar panels how many volts is a bunch of solar panels so once a charge off from what two or three solar panels can give even though you have 24 solar panels let's try and give you electricity and a convert and the charger is just not letting it happen because the converter is not using that much electricity to run your house and yes if you run everything in your house maybe you should get an air compressor table saw router I don't know what else can you get and turn everything on your house oh no two 6,000 watt inverters probably handle that all pretty well because it's not everything gives a great big surge when it runs some things do just don't listen this woman say say that you need 18 solar panels to run a dryer because if you put that much into your dryer when it's running your blow your dryer up.
