I never got over how Buck and McCarver COMPLETELY missed Aaron Rowan's laser throw to the plate that nailed Ruiz. Who cares that is was a one hopper. It was a one hopper that Posey had a chance to handle. Rowan was always a great defensive outfielder. His throw made Posey's tag possible.
When else are you gonna see a bat flip on an out? Not only that but it's not ironic at all. Absolutely beautiful at bat from Uribe. Oswalt was in his kitchen that entire at bat and he didn't back down an inch. In the end he stayed in the box and was able to reach the soft stuff away.
42:51: Posey gives the Giants a 1-0 lead 51:48: MadBum's 3rd K. 1:09:49: MadBum's 5th K. 1:17:03: Giants lead 2-0. 1:32:55: 6th K. 1:48:33 Victorino RBI. 2-1 Giants. 1:50:56: SF Pitching Change.
Phillies played a solid game but if i was manual i would have went with doc, no reason whatsoever not to. Oswalt in game 5 to take lead and hamels in game 6 to seal the deal. Manual didn't take risks,
the better club won..i said going into the series the Phils were better on paper, but wouldn't be against the Giants that week..exactly how it turned out..and considering what the Giants were able to do in 2012 & 2014 there was no shame in losing to those Giants.
In 2nd inning :48, LHP Baumgardner's delivery & pickoff move had Jimmy Rollins diving back to 1st on every pitch. With 2 out, 0-2 count, he ran but got picked off. Then in Game 6 in the middle innings, Baumgardner pitching, Rollins on, 2 out and Ryan Howard doubled off the wall, but Rollins stopped @ 3rd, even though off on contact, inexcusable for a fast guy. Had he scored, home run by Uribe about an hour later would have tied the game, not won it.
at 1:43:00 Joe Buck gives the wrong definition of an "ugly finder"...the ugly finder is when a ball is hit so hard that whatever it hits is gonna become ugly..as in bruised badly or broken...it's gonna leave whatever it hits ugly, not that its looking for the "ugliest guy on the bench"...Joe Buck is completely clueless..
crazy talk..the Giants Pitching Staff was stellar..the best in the NL since the Braves of the 90s....Lincecum, Cain, Bumgarner, Sanchez were all nasty..and the finishing bully was loaded with Affeldt, Romo, Lopez, Casilla, Wilson...those guys could slam the door shut..just look at what they did from 2010-2014...3 WS Championships.
@@pmiller7148 yes they were unproven at this point. Giants fans knew though that any series was a great chance to win. 9 series wins in a row and 2 wild card wins. In retrospect, the pitching was why. Many of those games were one run wins. Says alot of why they won. Clutch hitting, solid d, and out of this world pitching staff. Sf, please get back to this. It's why and how to get it done.
Agreed. The Phillies were supposed to Steam Roll us in bits and pieces. I watch this series over and again through the years and I still forget what a Dog Fight in a Phone Booth it really was.
Lotta running mistakes in the 5th. Shoulda held the guy on third with it let coming up next, and Victorino definitely should have been on second on his hit
This game was played on my 35th birthday. What a nice birthday present from the Giants (unlike 2002)!

Such a pleasure to attend this game

There was no off-day between games 4 and 5 in this series; if they'd gone with Doc Halladay they would've had to play all three on short rest.

Amazing team, maybe the biggest upset in a baseball series in the last decade

@@tflo75 True but at this time in 2010 they were still underrated especially compared to the phillies
