France is usually pretty good ally and never really had them separate peace and take land, plus they'll usually just go beat up Portugal. Think you would of been okay calling them in but still very impressive that you did it by yourself.
I almost feel like having France as an ally is cheating, it's too easy with them by your side, and I almost always have France as sort of an end-game boss.
Tried this just now as a noob. I took Cork, Tuadhmhumhain, and Kildare (vassal) and was taking Iaghin when England declared war on Kildare. They showed up with 25k and I got rolled. RIP irish sovereignty.
Want to point out that you got very lucky in this run - England releasing Meath and if Portugal land on the English mainland and attach to their stacks it's basically impossible since they pop their golden era very early and battles involving multiple armies use the higher morale.
From my experience: Calling in an ally in your war against a common rival is better than not doing it. The reason is first you win your war faster and secont your ally can´t take land. If you don´t call your ally, it can start his own war and in your case I have often seen that France loves the provinces of Kent and its surroundings. I am very surprised that France did not start its own wars against England. Was France even interested in South English provinces? Entertaining video. Maybe you can let the peace deals stay a second longer on the screen or mention the war score cost which remains after a repetitive war. Will you sometime start a campaign in the HRE?
Thanks for the comments. Some interesting points. I want to point out that in my first war against England, France would have refused the Call to Arms and I didn't want to wait around for France to get their act together. For me the priority was keeping my trust rating with France at 50 or above so they would maintain their Alliance and not break it later on. If I called in France and they didn't get Calais for instance, their trust rating with me may have fallen.
