I have laughed at many of the humorous things you’ve done or said but I haven’t laughed as hard as when Kelly started putting salad in that bowl and the two of you start to carry it through your house! Good work!
If my cereal bowl was this size my life would be a lot easier... I could eat my 3x daily serving of cinnamon toast crunch much easier all at once instead of filling it up 15 times in a row. How much does this bowl cost??
One of those times where you wish UA-cam had the option of clicking on a smiley face instead of just a "thumbs up". A very nicely done project and great quasi-subliminal humor :)
Wow. I think your channel has become the one I am the most excited about when a new video comes out. I find your combination of craftsmanship, ingenuity, art and humor to be very special. Thank you.
I just love your humor, all of your projects are amazing, and I love watching them too, but it really would not matter what you done, I would watch your videos.
I see it used to hold your peanut M&Ms and chips in the TV room. Or maybe for salted peanuts in the shell for game days. Seems a *little* out of scale for the kitchen/dining arrangement. Very clever how you solved the typical issues and a very, very nice project! And at that size, very, very few bowl turners are going to smirk of scoff.
The jigs are pure genius! I've made several ringed bowls, cutting out the rings with a scroll saw. I've always struggled with keeping the rings lined up when gluing them. I've recently bought a small cnc router and this video gives me great ideas for it.
It's a great item well done!. Honestly it reminds me of the type of bowl that you would see displaying herbs and spices at a Asian farmer's market!!. Can you imagine trying to buy one of these it would cost you a small fortune but you made it for the price of 3 sheets of plywood!. Ingenious !!!.
Haha you cracked me up at the end! Very cool project. I bet there are some salon/spa's that would love to commission giant bowls like that as an entryway piece... maybe filled with some river stones and product.
Awesome project, so cool, so creative. A few pro tips from a commercial shop . Get a bigger ball nose bit. The bigger radius of the ball the bigger step over you can use and have less to standout, greatly reducing machine time. For example I would use a 3/4" ball for this with a .08 step over. Also no need to cut your lift so close the finish. Your using cheap material, way to margin for error hear .Get close, do a roughing pass, you can even do the roughing pass with a ball nose, because I see your little machine does not have a tool changer.
What a crack up you guys are. You not only put a smile on my face but you also made me laugh. Thank you to both Kelly and yourself. Love your work and keep the videos coming.
As the bottom of the bowl was being milled first, I was saying, "It'd be better to mill the inside first!" Same for the roughing pass. Good calls. The other thing I'd do is nicely round the bead, rather than sanding one in. Great project. Really loved the outro. Too funny.
The bowl is amazing, but the jigs were the real gold for me in this video. I just got my CNC about 2 months ago, and I'm finally starting to realize the versatility of being able to make one's own tools, jigs, and hold-downs. Excellent work! (I am proud of myself for thinking at the beginning of the carve that the inside should have been done first for stability's sake. I'm learning!)
Might have been easier to chop down a giant redwood tree, cutting a slice off, and turning it on a giant lathe. But don’t forget to wear a face shield for safety. LOL 😂😛 great project, can’t imagine how much dust there was.
Nice project. I have found the Amana Tool 45986 Carbide Tipped Bowl & Tray router bit to be one of the best bits to use when I cut out bowls or trays on my CNC but I have kept all mine under 20 inches.
When gluing the bowl to the jig when it was upright, an old trick used on the leave is to glue the bowl to the jig with a piece of paper in the middle. This will hold it firmly but allow you to knock the jig off after the work is done and only have to sand off the thin layer of paper.
I have been thinking a LOT about making a large bowl similar to this. i came up with a similar Jig with a box around it and make a type of vacuum clamp to hold the bowl in place in place. now that it think of it, this might just during the gluing process. anyway, Very nice work, and it inspires me to move ahead with my project.
On my cnc machine i actually only use a couple dabs of hot glue to secure work down, milling wood is a low force process and i haven't had an issue with that process yet (saw the tape idea i like that too).
I’m glad to see you have at least started out small and are getting the little projects out of the way now tackle something a bit larger maybe a yacht 😜
Realllllly nice build project. Impractical scale. It won’t last long in service, because you’ll both get tired of leaning so far over to toss salads and do other dish preps in it. Methinks the demo was just for the video. But imagine the bread dough you could proof in that monster!
Consider that if you wanted to make a deeper bowl, then shaping the individual sections and using alignment pins could work. Once you had the CNC work done, assemble/glue it and then start with the sanding. The pins themselves would not have to be long or thick.
As a joke you should have used a set of those big wooden 1960's fork and spoons that hang on the wall to serve the salad. Great project ,I love your mind young man.
I've made bowls on my CNC router, but struggled a bit with maintaining alignment when flipping it to do the other side. Never occurred to me to make up a jig.
I love this video. You both made me smile, I really needed that. Thank you. Could you make some giant utensils to go with it? Maybe a whole giant place setting? Really, thank you again.
As always great to watch. I appreciate how you allow us into your thought process and am always fascinated by how your brain works. You have (to me) a unique and exciting way of tackling each project you do with such finesse.
Absolutely brilliant. Possibly your best wood based project? I've always wanted to make a wooden bath tub by a similar method but don't have a cnc. Perhaps you could try that next? If Kelly is like my wife, she'd approve! Stay safe.
Trying to use it at the end of the video was priceless! The whole time, while watching, I'm asking myself "What on earth is he going to do with a 60" bowl???" lol
Beautiful, practical, easily stored, and car-wash friendly.
And the bowl is nice too!
"I think it was about now that I realized that I must have got the scaling wrong" 13:45
As hard a project as this was, I think keeping a straight face at the end would have been the toughest part, great job.
I have laughed at many of the humorous things you’ve done or said but I haven’t laughed as hard as when Kelly started putting salad in that bowl and the two of you start to carry it through your house! Good work!
Had me laughing at the end there. "It's become our go-to bowl to grab off the top shelf for any occasion" LOL
16:09 - Next project: bigger spoons or a larger salad. Excellent work... I always enjoy your videos.
He could use the drone to go fetch some salad from the centre of the bowl.
I have to say that when I see an advert on most videos I scrub forward but I watch every one on your channel because it actually adds to your content.
I want to get some 1" ball bearings to spin around in that bowl and just zone out for a while watching them.
A bowl that doubles as a house. I think I'm in love.
Great to see another practical project. I can imagine myself using this for my morning cereal.
And I can imagine your sugar rush. You'll look like a chipmonk on speed.
Let me guess: you planned on releasing this on april 1st but didn’t make it? 😂
i think your comment should be on april 1st.
As an avid wood turner, I would have to say that this was my favorite of all of your videos so far, and I really like them all a lot.
I think your legally required to fill this with cereal
If my cereal bowl was this size my life would be a lot easier... I could eat my 3x daily serving of cinnamon toast crunch much easier all at once instead of filling it up 15 times in a row. How much does this bowl cost??
COSTCO
You are one talented individual. I know you make your mother really proud. Keep up the great work.
👏😂
Thank you Skill Share for supporting one of my favorite channels!! 😉👍
This would be a great solution for the Social Distancing problem in restaurants I think!
What you don't waanna share my bowl of CHINESE FOOD ??
One of those times where you wish UA-cam had the option of clicking on a smiley face instead of just a "thumbs up". A very nicely done project and great quasi-subliminal humor :)
when you have an absurd idea and the tools to execute it love it
and have the
intelligence to do it
Wow. I think your channel has become the one I am the most excited about when a new video comes out. I find your combination of craftsmanship, ingenuity, art and humor to be very special. Thank you.
Now you need a bigger dinner table. Thank you for sharing your amazing story. Be careful and safe. God bless you and your family.
All I kept thinking was that's brilliant. Great work.
why? A computer literally did all the leg work.
i was bowled over with joy watching this project. I love a big salad too. cheers
I just love your humor, all of your projects are amazing, and I love watching them too, but it really would not matter what you done, I would watch your videos.

This chap genuinely puts a smile on my face

Very kool project.
Can’t wait for the next video.
Hello Kelly.
Take care. 👍❤️
This channel is my favorite thing on the internet
ARE YOU KIDDING ME THAT IS INSANE!! YOU AR SUCH AN INSPIRATION TO ALL THESE PEOPLE!!! KEEP DOING WHAT YOUR DOING!
That's freaking awesome. The bowl is bad ASS, but the humor is even better.
That last bit had me in stitches. Awesome work!
Dude, more videos of Kelly hoopla hooping please! Lucky man. Nice project.
Great job young man! You are a huge DIY inspiration to this 60-plus-years man.
Haha you cracked me up at the end! Very cool project. I bet there are some salon/spa's that would love to commission giant bowls like that as an entryway piece... maybe filled with some river stones and product.

ha ha, "It's become our go to bowl!". Gold.

That right hand zero after the six...ouch! Nice project! Very cool!
Preparation is key. Well done young man.
Your videos are great
The patience and determination
You have is inspiring
Those jigs man, genius!! Enjoy watching every single episode you post - thank you!
The concentric rings are super crazy with the change in perspective
If you're going to use that for cereal, you better call up Kelly's family to get enough milk :-)
Totally what I was thinking. He could even sit in it while eating the milk and cereal, that's practical thinking right there.
@@leebumble You just reminded me of that GMM episode!
ua-cam.com/video/SP_3sVbvK6Y/v-deo.html
Absolutely 10/10 project here. Good job!
Just one bowl of ICE CREAM! I'm always impressed with your creativity with the CNC.
Can you imagine the brain freeze?
Looking forward to seeing the dishwasher you build to accommodate the bowl.
Nice project. I have found the Amana Tool 45986 Carbide Tipped Bowl & Tray router bit to be one of the best bits to use when I cut out bowls or trays on my CNC but I have kept all mine under 20 inches.
Love the new salad bowl.....I’m sure Walmart would sell them for you😎 all kidding aside, this is a great project. I think you did a fantastic job.
I can just image the wife asking for a decorative bowl for the dining table and you presenting this! Too funny. Amazing as always
Your sense of humour is great at the end there mate...
Great for backpacking: your salad bowl doubles as your tent.
finally another rainfall video, been awaiting them for soo long
UA-cam video of the year! Thanks for sharing
I love your channel I love the dry humor and I love the art that you make
Your channel is going to explode very soon. You're making some of the best maker content I've seen lately. Kudos! Farmers rule.
Couldn't stop LOL! That's my kinda bowl! The end use of it was worth the entire viewing!

Great to see a new video from you! Make a chandelier from the scrap wood.
Awesome! I actually lol'd at the closing scene. Thanks for sharing...
3:30 - That is some classic Star Trek lighting... Captain Kirk's love interest lighting.
I needed this laugh right now. Thanks Rainfall!
Kelly was a good sport to play along!
You Sir, are good at what you do! Keep up the amazing work man..
That is literally the most elaborate, over the top way to model this object in CAD ever

Great video! Are we expecting any progress on the camper van renovation soon :)
I dont know why, but when you asked for salad please I lost it! And seeing her struggle to reach it was priceless!!!
I’m glad to see you have at least started out small and are getting the little projects out of the way now tackle something a bit larger maybe a yacht 😜
Gee Wiz, Simply Brilliant, I have been trying to work this out for ages
,
The jig making is very clever, thanks for the ideas!
Yay! New video! And what a great and practical addition to the house! 😂
Realllllly nice build project. Impractical scale.

Exactly the content we need right now! Thanks for another great video!
I thought the whole project was fun and then it got better with the salad! Thanks!
I've made bowls on my CNC router, but struggled a bit with maintaining alignment when flipping it to do the other side. Never occurred to me to make up a jig.
Another really cool project executed like a boss. Well done.
This is a great bowl for All you can put in your bowl buffets.
YOU ARE AN AWESOME PLUNDERER !!
TYVM FOR SHARING YOUR MEEKNESS !!
Oh you two, this was very funny! good job! and fantastic job on the bowl.
Loved the ending!
That ending shot of her trying her best to reach the salad in the middle of the bowl, just barely making it!
I know, they were cheap with salad. Not even enough for one person.
Frank howarth has entered the chat
WOW, thats a big bowl... and so practical ...
This was the good laugh I needed today, thanks :)
Love it! You should make a hanging chandelier out of the scrap rings.
You know I think that would be a great idea!
I think from a certain angle the layers of the plywood create a optical illusion. You can sort of see it around 15:00
Absolutely brilliant. Possibly your best wood based project? I've always wanted to make a wooden bath tub by a similar method but don't have a cnc. Perhaps you could try that next? If Kelly is like my wife, she'd approve!
Stay safe.
And I actually watch the ads because you make something interesting while the ad is running
you two are dorks. i love it
Trying to use it at the end of the video was priceless! The whole time, while watching, I'm asking myself "What on earth is he going to do with a 60" bowl???" lol
wow that bowl is way over the top ! It looks great
