My 14 year old neighbour was murdered for his new bike his dad bought him for his 14 birthday ., He rode it only once and was killed being stabbed the 5 assailants have never been found . This is central London with all these security cameras yet cannot find the criminals responsible . Whatever is happening in the Uk , then we all agree its not going in the right direction . His name was Alan Cartwright . only 14 .. May he rest in peace ..

As a bushcrafter for years I have used and carried knives, saws and axes thousands of times and have never even thought about using these tools as weapons! We don’t have a knife problem we have a culture problem but dare not speak of the elephant in the room because of being labelled a racist! The London Bridge attacks were carried out by a van being driven into innocent pedestrians, so by the same government logic should we ban all vans?? No… The tool is an inanimate object that is only dangerous when in the hands of someone who does not value English or British values and culture! The truth needs to be said and faced by our governments and authorities and the punishments should fit the crime to enforce a proper deterrent! 😡😡

If you were more intelligent than a fart you would know that no London Mayor has the power to implement policies on tackling crime, only the Central Government has such power. In fact even the Metropolitan Police Commissioner has the power to implement policies on tackling crime, at the most a Mayor can engage in meetings to discuss crime and how to tackle crime, but he doesn't have the power to impose on the Government or the Commissioner. Lastly, there isn't much difference in London's crime rate now compared with when Boris Johnson was the Mayor violent crime rates were just as high; remember the riots and looting back in 2011?; It happened while Bozo was the Mayor. The only difference now is that since our economy has plummeted and the cost of living has adversely affected underprivileged people, shop-lifting has increased, not just in London, but even in areas where there are no ethnic minorities.

Not sure where you plucked your figures from. ONs show that in the last 12 months knife crime in London has risen 22 not 49% and in terms of 100,000 head the West Midlands and Cleveland have the highest rate of hospital admissions in the UK for knife related incidents but those areas are demographically more white than black, brown, asian which doesn’t fit in with this threads narrative so best ignore the official data and just keep blaming someone who wasn’t even in office when the Tories got rid of 21,000 fully trained up coppers.😂

People from poor communities are shafted from birth to death. A decent life is not impossible but highly unlikely. All while being targeted by advertising telling what they could have if they were the "normal" successful people shown in the ads. Frustration and self hate develops while young. Crime and gangs become appealing especially when seeing the corruption in the people in government and police.

I suffered two experiences of being attacked at knife point, but not recently. The first was 1992, the second 1997, both in London. Thankfully, I wasn't injured badly, but they both left emotional scars and, for a time, suffered PTSD. I continued to live in London, despite the attacks.
From 2004 to 2011 I lived in North East Scotland, where, even there, knife crime had started up - one victim was an employee of a friend of mine.
I moved back to London in 2011 to look after my, now, late parents. First 2 years, I lived with my brother, in Kew, a posh area of London - no knife crime there at that point. In late 2012, I moved to Norbury, to a bedsit - all I could afford. During the four years I was there there were numerous knifings in Croydon, Thornton Heath, Norbury and Streatham. I didn't feel safe. I worked in Balham at a supermarket, so had either a train journey of just two stops, or I took two buses. Both transport routes never felt entirely safe and I frequently witnessed arguments between passengers.
One morning, I got on a bus and realised I was the only white person - it's a horrible feeling. I moved to Balham in 2016, to be walking distance from my work. At that point, Balham was still deemed a good area. However, at work in the superstore, I and the 200 plus staff I worked alongside, witnessed a steady increase in shoplifting. By 2018, gangs were coming into the store, armed with knives and stealing £1000s worth of alcohol and other products. I was assaulted twice at work, once verbally, once spat at, but some of my colleagues weren't so lucky. One had a bottle in his face.
My saving grace, ironically, came in November 2018, when I suffered a work accident. I broke my hip in four places. It took 14 months and two operations, until January 2020, to recover. I never went back to work. Outside the front door, of the multiple occupancy property I rented, a stabbing occurred in December 2018, whilst I was recovering in bed. I only realised, when the police knocked on the door.
I decided in January 2020, returning to work was not an option, partly because of my age, partly the injury and partly safety. My street had become a walk through for people from Streatham gaining access to Balham, during Covid. Crime went up significantly. I decided to leave the UK. I'd already started planning my own migration, back in 2014.
I moved to Bulgaria in August 2020, after four visits, a lot of research and careful plans to move. I've never looked back. I'm married to a Bulgarian lady now, own property, I'm retired and living very happily.

I'm sure he told the attacker many months before that the case was dropped, while I was still being strung along he looked as if it was behind him when I passed him twice in the high street. Red Thread (Youth Charity) are saying stabbings are increasing. Why? Because that is what TPTB want.

London has a culture of greed, rising inequality, and status, something which doesn't exist in vast majority of other U.K. areas; therefore the underprivileged who are made to feel like nothing will want to raise their status by any means. There is a correlation between our highly unethical economic system and rising inequality, and escalating crimes of financial gain, successive governments have known this but they don't want to address this problem because it would require replacing our highly unethical economic system with one that is ethical, which would result in reduction in the wealth of the Elite.

If society bothered to tackle the causes of violent crime rather than ‘othering’, then we would see a significant reduction in such incidents. I was a child of the 50s living in a semi-rural area in Gloucestershire. Out rambling and camping from the age of 8 I often carried a sheath knife, machete or an axe depending what we were doing at the time. I also owned an air rifle and, with the landowners permission would shoot grey squirrel for the 2/6d the Forestry Commission paid for each tail handed in. This was an attempt to protect the native red squirrel.
Going to school most boys carried a pocket knife and the teachers would often ask to borrow one. The embarrassment if yours was not sharp.
To my certain knowledge none of us stabbed or shot anyone.
Later at secondary school our metalwork master would encourage us to bring our air weapons in for servicing. As a boy scout we also roamed free with many different knives and axes. At home many families had a 12 bore shotgun ( usually propped in a corner of the living room behind a chair) for vermin control and livestock protection.
Banning knives only affects law abiding people as the criminals will ignore the law any way.
A good example of the stupidity of this a carpet fitter I know carried a stanley knife on his belt. On his lunch break he went to the local pub for a meal. He never even thought about the work tool on his belt. Some do-gooder reported him to the police and he was fined for carrying an offensive weapon. Ridiculous!!!

I think children from families who are comfortably off can become targets.
