I have been HIV+ since 1994, probably many years earlier but resisted testing for far too long. Status undetectable, and taking my cocktail religiously.

I love to hear about new therapies, it gives us hope. There are currently +30 HIV drugs available and more are in the pipeline. Even more interesting, there are different strategies being considered to cure HIV: gene therapy, shock-and-kill, block-and-lock.

May I ask what the results of the study were? Did it have any benefit at the time?
@@davidaikman1920 It was for identical twins, there were so many guys in the study. One twin was HIV+ and the other was negative. They took blood from my twin & later gave me a blood transfusion with his blood. The study lasted a couple of years. Dr. Fauci was my doctor. I don’t know if that is the reason I’m still alive today, but May have played a big part.

@@rajkumar-raj.for the most accurate results? Around 3-4 weeks. If you had condomless sex within 1-3 days go to a Dr and ask for PEP.

Raif: I don’t know your medical history but I have a suggestion about your gas issue.
You may be lactose intolerant. This can occur to anyone at any age.
I love dairy ( especially cheese) and milk chocolate,and ate it in huge amounts. I started to notice that after I ate a lot, I farted a lot and had loose stools. I cut back on dairy and the gas was cut back and the stools hardened.
There are over the counter products that you eat/ swallow just before you have dairy. I found that helped immensely. Different types of cheese also have different levels of lactose in them. Also, eggs are not dairy foods!

I feel it is relevant the gut issue in the context of HIV infection. I have lived with this disease for 5 years and one issue that is chronic in my daily life is my intestinal health. I noticed I would often have loose stools for no reasons - I think that accounts for indigestion and my struggle to gain weight. 😢

I don't know. I'm a bit torn. Patreon seems like a go-to but it encourages you to structure it as monthly 'subscription' while providing extra benefits for being a member. I don't think I have the bandwidth to do 'extra perks' atm (maybe down the line). So perhaps Paypal/Venmo? I like the ease of people donating via Super Chats during Live and Super Thanks in the comments or even creating a YT channel membership, but yes, they do take 30%+ from all donations.

Hello Raif, have you done a video before on the countries we cannot enter? I live in Australia and a major international transit hub is the United Arab Emirates. Recently I tried organising a flight from Brisbane to Athens and I needed to overlay a night in Dubai however I sadly discovered the United Arab Emirates will not allow me to enter with my ARV medication. People living with HIV are barred entry to the UAE which is a real problem for flights. Transiting through the airport is no problem however if you need to overlay a night to catch a connecting flight PLWHIV are not allowed entry. Do you know if the UAE are considering changes to this draconian law?

I was diagnosed last 2017 and my cd4 that time was 350 now 2023 has reach to 890 while my viral load still less than 40. The result of my medical exam was not detected. Was this true that I am already cured. Do I still have to continue my maintenance. Kindly reply

There are hypotheses but with so many drugs I think it is something we will have to watch closely as more research unfolds
@@RaifDerrazi and probably new drugs are kinder to bodies than older drugs. I’ve only started arvs last year in May after testing so I went on treatment pretty early.

Is it possible to pass HIV to other person in the first week after infection, before to develop a detectable viral load?
Probably the best person to ask would be your physician, however, I don’t know your situation with respect to where you live, your culture, and your access to free medical advice, so that may not be an option.
If you google your country’s name, along with free advice for HIV, you may find a phone number to call. If you want
to remain anonymous, make sure your phone is set to “ private caller”. There may be other ways to do it that I don’t know of, cause I don’t have a cell.
I know Canada, USA,and India have such a number. Please check about the privacy of these calls.
