33 y/o gamer here. I used to play all the old CoDs on xbox on controller. The past 15 years or so, though, I've switch the KBM as my main input. I played the original WZ and all the recent CoDs on KBM, but when I was getting into Apex legends I picked up a pro controller (DSE) because I felt like the AA in that game was just crazy good. Long story short... I've been going back and forth between roller and KBM on Bo6 and I really just cant decide on what is better. There are fights where I feel like the AA was really good or super strong, but at the end of the day, every time I go back to my mouse and key... I feel like I can just fry people at any range. Headshot grinding is way easier on KBM imo. Maybe I just need more time on the controller? But so far I can't seem to get completely on board with the pros like Huskkers and Sym saying that KBM is complete trash. Maybe at the absolute highest levels it is? But it feels like it keeps up just fine to me.
Love the objectivity :) I found headshots grind in core mnk was rough but i played alot of nuketown and sbmm seems to be rather strong depending on the lobby. I think a top controller play will always beat a top mnk player because if you can spend less time worrying about hitting your shots and more time on the micro of the game. Positioning gaining small advantages in a fight you should win more gunfights. But I don't think there is a perfect input both have there downsides. But in cod Unfortunetly you just can't see what your aiming at sometimes so that just a huge nerf by default.
At high level it is definitely trash, you literally can't compete. All the top players are controller. Watch immarksman reacting to Jev talking about the comparison, it's pretty good because it features two perspectives. The perception of kd is waaay inflated by kids on cod. .70 is average. 1.00 is good, 1.4 is well above average. Also kd is not a good indicator due to sbmm, playing solo with sbmm I'm a 1.4 when I play with my buddies who are average my kd is 3.00. It is tough to track what percentile kd you're in but there are sites that tracked MW19 multiplayer and warzone. For perspective, in mw19 muItiplayer I was a 1.2 and that put me in the top 15% of players. In warzone I was a 1.3 and that put me in the top 11% In black ops 6 I'm a 1.5 and new warzone a 2.4. I'd wager that we are in the top 10% of players if the stats are at all similar. Also I'm 33, age really shouldn't be much of a factor until you're 50 and even then it will be minor. Your reaction time slows at 2-6ms a decade. So at most you're 12ms slower then you were at 17 which is negligible if you already have a fast reaction time. Do a reaction time test and your results will vary by over 12ms. Don't trust the sbmm that makes you feel like you're bad, or the kids online that talk trash about any kd under 2.0, trust the stats. You're better than 90% of the hundreds of millions of people that play each year, and on mouse and keyboard nonetheless. If aim assist didnt exist you'd probably be in top 5% take pride brother.

Turn off names you'll get a nice centralised dot on the enemy to aim at through smoke, bases going off etc, thank me later - if you can get used to it turn off hit boxes - makes better tracking
Pro tip use strahfes aim trainers on aim labs stick between 20-35cm per 360 and practice smooth aim it’s essential in this game and if ya don’t do it you’re kinda screwed and 113 is the 120 fov in older cod games bcuz bo6 uses a different fov system instead of the classic multiplier
@@Zzzzx7 Couple of things: 1) Xbox controller has input lag. It's better to use a PS controller, which is why you see pros using it. 2) You have to tweak all your settings - watch a controller guide. Unsurprisingly, the most important part of using controller is being able to exploit the AA + RAA to the most you can bc it's op (too strong) in Bo6. 3) You're probably over-aiming and overpowering the AA. Less is more. You aim mostly with your movement as the RAA will do most of the tracking (around 60%) in Bo6. The aim stick is only for small microadjustments and corrections (unless you're going for headshots, which requires a bit more effort). You obv can use the aim stick to do 180s when necessary, I'm mostly talking when actually firing at someone. 4) In a week, you'll notice massive improvement, and if you keep the discipline and focus on improving without developing bad habits, you could basically be pro level in a month or two. The floor is low and so is the ceiling when it comes to mechanics. 5) If you can't claw, there's always controllers with pads. Additionally, control freaks are worth considering (they're cheap). I'm a crimson on MnK despite usually being the highest ranks in other games, so I picked up controller recently. Since gamesense transfers ... I made iridescent on controller in no time. It's insane how people justify the current AA being almost an aimbot atm, lol.
Guys that think mnk has a higher ceiling are right it does. But when one input has 0ms response time 100% of the time and inhuman tracking that ceiling becomes a floor. I wish the sleeper agent field upgrade had no aim assist so controller players could see how bad they really are. The argument that they need it to be competitive is shit. If an input needs literal cheats to be competitive then I guess it just wasn’t a good input to begin with. I think I’ll make a new one that only has 1 thumbstick and on my input you need spinbot to be competitive because you only have 1 thumb to control with😢
I think if you just removed rotational aim assist it would be a much more even playing field. Without aim assist controller doesn't stand a chance. With AA as is, controller is OP to a near hacking level. If you still kept AA but removed the rotational aspect I think we'd be in a fair spot.
Thing is thumbsticks can be better if they made controllers with paddles , and longer sticks the default. Maybe normalize gyro hybrid controls with reduce AA. Look at all the old scuff controllers and control freaks.

Recently switched to KBM after playing on controller all my life, mainly due to playing other games on kbm & not wanting to switch back & fourth from each input. Current kd is 2.06, mostly solo, some duo w my friend who’s a similar kd, also kbm. My cod game sense is high, played every cod game since bo1. & although aim assist def gets the best of you, I do think kbm players complain more than actual try to get better. The game throws some literal bs to make things harder I won’t lie, but if you got good aim, you should shit on ppl regardless imo. I’m usually top frag or second frag, dropped 1 nuke only and a couple 20 streaks. SBMM is a bitch but the input doesn’t hinder me as much as I thought it would based on other players feedback
Agreed to a certain extent, but it really depends on the person some people get a hang of it some people don’t, and the aim assist is too much and that’s been proven time and time again
@ I’m not disagreeing I think aim assist is broken. I just don’t like how ppl make it seem like we should just avoid kbm all together since it is doable. I feel like the entire goal and reason most of us play kbm on games is because it’s true skill, getting to actually aim & if you just turn to a “don’t play kbm” excuse, you’re not trying to be the best aimer you can be
This is exactly how I feel. Yes MnK it’s tough but if you practice on your weaknesses you can become a god. Obviously close range is harder on MnK but it’s not impossible you just have to put yourself in that position over and over again
I’m never switching to controller, mouse and keyboard simply gives way more options in terms of button layout and it’s more precise for long range combat, which is more of my play style a lot of the times. Aiming with your thumb vs aiming with your entire hand isn’t even a comparison at long range. I just feel like I’m more in control as well when I play on Mnk. I hate that my hands are so close together when I play on controller, I love on mnk when my hands are more apart and moving freely as supposed to on the same fixed object, it feels more natural to me personally as well. I also just wanted to say I hate the whole if you think aim assist is op “get a controller” saying, it’s just dumb and lacks critical thought, someone can think something is op but feel more comfortable and do better on something that isn’t op. I personally don’t care about aim assist, I don’t care if they nerf it more or keep it the same, just my opinion.
if you play with a mouse for so long you will hit a wall in terms of perfection - you cant get that, because you are human and you cant predict every movement or see every single pixel change on screen specially with so much going on, but if you play with a controller, first time you wont see the potential of it, you gotta keep playing it and in less than one month playing few hours a day you will be at pro levels of aiming, and this cant happen on mouse and keyboard, it takes years and you still gonna miss a lot of important shots that will lead you to fight losses, on controller, you die because of anything, but not because of your aim.
@@igorrafael7429 Yeah but I don’t care about reaching inhuman aim or peak performance, I don’t like using controller is doesn’t feel good even when I’m doing good on controller it doesn’t feel satisfying at all. Also I like the fact that all the aiming is done by myself, that I didn’t get help from aim assist.
Mnk is simply just more precise, there’s a reason controller needs aim assist in order to be better than Mnk. Using your thumb vs your entire hand to aim is a big difference, anyone with common sense could tell you that.
Been using controller for 10 years. Was top 150 on Cold War. Tried to switch to MNK, and have to say that the potential with MNK is far higher than with a controller. First time users of controllers and MNK, then MNK is easier. But it’s easier to become decent with a controller. But it’s impossible to become extremely good (aim wise) with a controller, compared to with a mouse. If you have problems with aim use Kovaaks. But most of you probably lack game sense more than aim ability. But I do have to say that the aim assist is non-existent in this COD, which is why I once again have switched to MNK. To summarize, the average controller user is probably winning fights against the average MNK user. The top MNK user is winning 9/10 fights against the top controller users. Aim assist is non-existent, especially up close. Just practice on your weak points, consistently and you’ll see huge benefits :)
Absolute crap talk. I play both input and roller is a light year ahead with unrealistic tracking. WSOW and top 20 with one 1 MNK player in there and you're here coping.

Oh yeah I also forgot to mention I play mouse and keyboard on console.
@@William1683BTsame here. Ps5 … I think there is a touch of input delay tho
if you play with a mouse for so long you will hit a wall in terms of perfection - you cant get that, because you are human and you cant predict every movement or see every single pixel change on screen specially with so much going on, but if you play with a controller, first time you wont see the potential of it, you gotta keep playing it and in less than one month playing few hours a day you will be at pro levels of aiming, and this cant happen on mouse and keyboard, it takes years and you still gonna miss a lot of important shots that will lead you to fight losses, on controller, you die because of anything, but not because of your aim.
Respect that's even harder lol no for slider, input delay and way less frames and settings you are truly devoted to mnk
Mnk is for typing emails
true
If you want to numb your reaction time and fps skills, sure.
Mouse and keyboard? You use a mouse to type emails?
Mnk is simply just more precise, there’s a reason controller needs aim assist in order to be better than Mnk. Using your thumb vs your entire hand to aim is a big difference, anyone with common sense could tell you that.
@@William1683BTaim assist shouldn’t be this strong. Terrible players think they’re good. They’re breeding weak gamers.
at this point they need to give us some aimassist
Hell no i want to have full control. I takes some more practice but it is doable.
absolutely not
Been using controller for 10 years.
Facts
Absolute crap talk. I play both input and roller is a light year ahead with unrealistic tracking. WSOW and top 20 with one 1 MNK player in there and you're here coping.
@ I think he means overall tho
@ I think he’s trying to say the best player on mnk vs the best controller player the mnk should be better is his point
@ aim assist is non existent up close now from what I’ve experienced
For keybinds, you can bind your knife onto a separate key rather than holding melee
Question: there is a perk on a laser (I believe it’s a focus perk) that may seem to benefit M&K players over controller because of our ability to assign keys. Have you tested this?
