    this guy has beautiful jiu jitsu. not big man jiu jitsu either, he moves so nimble like hes 150 pounds. i really like these displays, theyre showing their techniques theyve mastered throughout the years just like a painter or dancer would do.

    I feel for the guy rolling with Michael. Can’t be easy getting tapped that many times by a black belt so quickly. Incredible demo.

    I can't get over how calm and composed Roy seems. With a teacher like him, I'm sure people learn twice as fast as they normally would. You seem like an amazing person (and professional)!

      I've been watching these for months, but I just started BJJ like 3 weeks ago. It's cool to see something and go "Hey I just practiced that!"
      Granted, there's only like 4 techniques out of the whole technique demo that I've had 1 or 2 practices with, but it's cooler than when I just watched thinking "man I bet he's doing so much stuff that I know nothing about" lol

    I've seen 2nd and 3rds that don't roll that smooth. This guy has talent...big talent. And his technique is so crisp. A pleasure to watch

    I had the pleasure of meeting Michael and his wife at a seminar put on by Professor Dean in NC this weekend. Just an amazing, amazing, salt-of-the-earth guy and he helped me and other students with details on the techniques being taught.

      It was pleasure to assist and meet so many kind, talented, and humble people. I made the comment to Professor Dean that I was impressed at how good even the early white belts’ fundamentals were. It was obvious to me that I walked into a true academy of learning and not another gym.

    Amazing, I really like how Roy Dean integrates tradition and makes a black belt promotion a very special moment. It should be ceremonious, as it is here.

    Michael is so fluid and natural with each move. Every detail in each move and variation is intentional. I Haven’t been in jiu jitsu for a long time but this was excellent

    This is soooo beautiful I want to cry !….. big inspiration . I’m a 5’11 250 pound power lifter just started my BJJ journey and this guy is one of the few big dudes that I’ve seen move how I would want to move when ever I reach his level … great flow in all his transitions it’s just Beautiful.

    Absolute savage. He doesn’t beat you, every move he did had killing intention. I watched in awe as he demonstrated the intent of Jiu jitsu

      Look up the rest of these promotions through the Roy Dean lineage...including Roy Dean's videos about the different belt levels.
      There seems to be an emphasis on this fluidity in transitions.

    I love coming back to watch these Crucibles as my knowledge grows. Spotting and appreciating details I didn't know a year or 6 months ago. Also its a good reminder of how far I've come on my journey.

    I love how at the end you have to roll with Roy Dean. Nothing is given, everything is earned.

    That was amazing to watch, Michaels jiujitsu is beautiful. Not a single person watching his demonstration can question his jiujitsu or his belt. For a person to be able to put together such a smooth example of their skills is a task in itself.

    This was a joy to watch, I really like his ankle locks when someone has your back and attacking the wrist , especially when he let the forward roll go in the omleplata to get the wrist lock.... Slick!

    @ROYDEAN : You and your students move so different then anything else ive ever saw on the mat u can tell your students and yourself are 1 with the art it shows from both students and instructor . You should be proud of caliber of students u are producing cuz its not something u see everywhere
