1. With accelerator pedal fully released turn ignition switch "ON" and wait 3 seconds.
2. Fully depress and release the accelerator pedal 5 times (HARD) - within 5 seconds
3. Wait 7 seconds and fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 10 seconds until the CEL starts blinking.
4. Fully release the accelerator pedal (while the CEL is still blinking)
5. Wait about 10 seconds.
6. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for more than 10 seconds.
7. Fully release the accelerator pedal (The CEL light will continue to blink).
8. Turn ignition switch to "OFF" position and now you can start the car.
8 years later and your video still helping people out. A true legend 🙏
Wooooww 11 years later and still helping a brutha out! Lol all I could say was "ohh shoot!!!" 🙏🏽👉🏾 thanks
You know it's a legendary video when the video immediately starts off with the instructions
12 years later and this video still helping people... Thanks a million!!!!!
Does this work ????
@@DeeKarbon 100% take your time and follow the steps
I did not get it too work on the first couple times I tried
It’s about timing… be patient and good luck
@@DeeKarbonfollow along with him. I did it and it worked.
I keep coming back to this video whenever I need to reset my G37 - thank you for posting it, thank you for getting straight to the point (no long into and crap) - I legit use your talking to keep my timing accurate. Legit, you’ve saved me many times - so thanks!!
Same here
Will disconnecting the negative terminal get the same result? Thanks
@@Damone7653 to the best of my knowledge it would depend on why you’re trying to reset it. The car seems to retain “serious codes” even after leaving the battery disconnected for a bit. Putting this in non technical terms - this reset is like restoring your iPhone to factory settings - it’s reset to an “out of the box” condition. This process doesn’t cause you to lose your tune though (if you have an aftermarket tune). I use this to reset my cars AFR learning now and then
@@NikPappaconstantine Thanks Nik... I have no tune and the car runs fine, I might leave well enough alone. Enjoy the weekend!
Damn I’m trying to flash my locked tune so I can get a new one
I have done this, along with cleaning my MAF sensor periodically for years on my 09 G37x. Now I've got 233K miles & I've had to do nothing to my car except oil changes & brakes, replace 1 hose & 1 belt, 1 water pump & 1 drive shaft & she still runs like new!
Rachel Burger youre talkimg about serp belt? Only reason im asking is i have 2011 g37 that i thhhiinnkk needs a new one
I just got an 09 g37xs with 102k miles, I'm scared of the dreaded gallery gasket leak. I'm surprised you never got it within all those miles!
U ever get P0106 engine light code? This annoying little code can't figure it out
@platinum9898 Yeah, the P0106 is common, that's why I started cleaning my MAF sensor followed by a reset of the ECU. I've been doing it on my 13 g37x & this car still runs great too.
It's mainly tiggered by a loose intake hose, a dirty air filter, or a clogged or dirty throttle body.
@@frankrodriguez11591 Nope, I have heard about it, but I've previously had a G35 & (2) G37x sedans all with over 225k miles & never had a gasket issue. But my driving had been around 35k miles a year, 85% of which is long, steady driving at 80mph on the highway, which I would think would cause a lot less damage to the car than city driving, so maybe that's why?
Literally have been trying to follow forums for a hour now. Watching and going with this video once made it go away, thanks man!
You saved me brother. Car keep having hard time detecting the key and won’t start. Now I don’t have to unplug the damm terminal every time. Car started just fine. Saved this video!
9 years later and still helping people out. Thank you so much for the video. Saved me a trip to the mechanic 🤙🏽
Dude you're a legend, straight to the point, no bs, no gimmicks. Stay blessed king 🙏🏻
Thank you so much man you don't know what a life saver you are to apparently so many people. You literally just saved me an engine diagnostic that would have cost me $140 in a city two hours away! Karma will be great to you
infiniti dealer wanted $250 just to diagnose my moms car for this! What scammers they are!
Similar to the case +henry vanegas mentioned,
My '09 g37 coupe S went into limp mode, wouldn't rev past 2000rpm.
Just did an ECU reset as shown above, and it all came back to normal. Did a test drive on the highway, no problems left at all. It performs as if nothing happened.
Thank you so much for posting this!
Success... after 3 tries. 2013 G37x - no more lag on acceleration! Took my tablet to the car and followed along with the video. Trust the process. My car's CEL flash sequence was a little different.
would it work on my journey too ? i have lag aswell not too much and it also doesn’t give out as much power i also have a bcm code
Worked 1st time around. Makes it easier if you follow steps alongside instructions on phone inside car.
5 keys to soulmate
I had a shifting problem with my 2010 G37, it was shifting to hard(it wasn’t smooth), but when I did this finally the problem is gone. Thank you very much man
You are a life saver!!!!!! I was struggling with the timing for 15 minutes until I found your video and I just hit play and did everything in sync with you and it worked absolutely perfect!! Thank you
I tried this myself from printed instructions, tried it 6 or 7 times, CES light never did flash. I watched this video on my tablet in my 2013 G37x and followed along exactly with the video and it worked first time. When I tried doing this reset from printed instructions, I was not hitting the 5 accelerator-to-the-floor actions fast enough. This video showed how it's done. THANKS!!!!
Infiniti ex35. Changed my air filters for the high flow washable k&n air filters and after a day my engine light came on. The car drives just fine. I did this and my check engine light went off. It worked on my second try while watching the video inside the car. Thanks.
I did this to my fx45 2005 and it turned it into an qx70 2017
Shazam!
Lmao
😂😂😂
Lmaooo
Lol I'm here to reset my qx70
Did it in the same time with you and worked perfectly....g35 2003 sedan..... Thanks for your post
Tried this and it definitely improved gas milage even my car air conditioner runs colder or so I thought. Thanks a lot
lol..its all in your mind!! the mind is amazing, the way it works...really it is!!
- MrRIchBiker Probably not actually. When some CELs are triggered they put the engine in limp mode to protect it. This usually causes poor fuel economy and or poor performance. Resetting CELs can temporarily take the vehicle out of limp mode until the CEL is triggered again.
@@djdbskif it does get better performance what should I go about doing to make sure it doesn’t come back
Definitely a huge help, especially if your battery just died. Chances are you'll see some warning lights popping up, particularly a yellow one related to the traction control. This seems to be a false alarm. I tried this method and the warning light went out.
Thanks for the posting! my g37 08 had a little pause before accelerating, now back to OEM parameters!! Vehicle was going off the last owners tune. Keep up the good work!!
Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, a, b, a, b, start.
Alex Tam it's B A start not A B. stop giving people the wrong instructions 😒😁
blood code for mk1? lol
Alex T contra 💀
Lmfao he unlocked a level
@@Ashanta28 Contra on NES?!
Easy wtf... all while you were doing that, I loosened my negative terminal, reattached it, checked my oil, filled up the tank, washed my car, detailed the interior, paid my insurance, lost my job, defaulted on my loan, hid my car in my friend’s garage, got a new job, paid back the bank, got the car out of my friends garage, sold it, defaulted the loan, went into collections, invested my money into bitcoin, lost my ass in bitcoin, stole my car back from the guy I sold it to, got caught by the cops, public defender’s an ass, learned how to make pruno, met some new friends in county, got out, got initiated with the locos, found my car at impound, bought it back at auction, couldn’t open the hood and needed to reset the ecu, found your video again on UA-cam, commented on it.
Idk staying inside my car for a minute and following instructions is easier than popping the trunk removing the plastic panel allowing you access to battery. Taking a 10mm and loosening the terminal. lol just follow instructions brother
This video has saved me several times. Just watch it while you are in your car and match him. ALL the other videos out there suck. This one is perfect and no other BS. 👍
its done... perfect ending
tank you!
2013 G37x with 30k. I followed the video step by step and cleared the service light. Thanks for the video!Took me a few times but it worked.
I checked the code at auto zone got code P0710 transmission fluid temperature sensor. Hope the light doesn't come back. I did make an appointment with the dealership incase light comes back, car still has factory warranty.
car was stuck at 1k rpm idle and service engine light, this fixed my issue.. thanks!!! i watch this video over and over every time i need a reset
back again thanks!!!
yea my 2013 journey does this I thought it was jerking but I took It to someone and they said its in limp mode and my service soon is also on did this fix?
I can't believe it actually worked. Push button twice.
Wait 3 seconds.
Push gas peddle 5 times
Wait 7 seconds
Hold the gas peddle 10 seconds then release
Wait 10 seconds
Hold gas for 10 seconds
Turn off car.
Omg! It worked 😅😂, I did it at the same time as you did. The lights started blinking 2 seconds ahead you but it all worked. Thank you 💯
yup, i agree. Disconnecting the battery is quicker. But when i was on long trip - my brake pads were worn and this resulted that everytime during heavy accelerating or braking the "brake" indicator lights up (due to low brake fluid level caused by thin brake pads). When this indicator lights up for more than few seconds the service engine indicator is on and traction controll is off. So in this case and on the road it is quite easy and fast way to reset ecu :)
30 years later still helping us out shookran habibi
You forgot the most important thing to tell people before starting this procedure. Make sure you turn off radio heater all accessories or this procedure will not work no matter how good you are with timing and timers. Once I found this out it works every single time.!!
Worked like a charm, thanks! Side note, I received the Loose Fuel Cap Warning, loosened and tightened the fuel cap several times, finally the warning went off, but I immediately got the Service Engine Soon warning. Did the above and it’s gone now. Hate that light 🤨
Best video on UA-cam on how to do this PERIOD. Perfect!!!!!
and hold it? does he mean brake then does he hit accelerator im glad you think its perfect but i dont understand him
😂😂😂😂
11 years later and it’s still helping people
IT ACTUALLY WORKED !!
thought this was a troll, but i gave it a shot because it had so many likes.
10 years ago and this video is still coming in clutch 👌🏽👌🏽
Henry my 09 was doing the same thing. Check the oil pressure with a manual pressure gauge so you can know if in fact you do have low oil pressure. I had low oil pressure and did an oil change with mobile1 10-40 and my pressure came back up. It could be the gaskets in the rear timing cover but for now this helped.
Legend 🙏❤️been coming back for 4 years 😂these gs are dramatic
Was about to pay $70.00 to get it reset , watched this and it worked !!! Thanks bro !!
You could have just unplugged the battery.
This works I tried on my 2015 Q50 Premium 3.7L only thing is to keep in mind your check engine light will flash no lettering will pop up just follow step by step exactly as the video and it’ll work!
I think I’ve watched this video 100 times in the last 3 years I’ve owned my G37S. Not sure if I could do the reset without watching it at the same time LOL. And to all the people saying pull the fuse or disconnect battery, then you have to reset all your radio presets and maintenance info. It certainly makes a difference since I have a full header back exhaust and I takes but once the ECU learns I’m back to being slow again. I just need to get a tune eventually. Oh well.
@Brian Quinn - correct and it’s easy to follow video anyway.
Nice work bro!!!
Saved us a trip to the dealer on a 2014 Infiniti Q50 !!! First try too. Just follow his prompts exactly through the video and cel will be off!!
cKSoFLy Just a Quick question, on the Q50 is the it check engine light that flashes according to the video? I'm pretty sure we don't have a "service engine soon"
It just worked for me as well
Worked like a charm. CEL is annoying as shop that did the tune forgot the detail of deactivate monitoring the rear O2's (although the tune is wonderful). So, nice to just turn it off in my driveway. Drove it 60 miles and tune is notably fine. No bogging down on acceleration.
Thank you bro my car was idling at 1100rpm..i was doing 60km for 15 liters of gas smh....after the mechanic replaced my valve covers... did this step by step now my car idles at 630 rpm or so 🙏
It worked I didn’t 2x second time worked .... I had a service engine soon light come on... it was the P0106 (map sensor) I changed sensor n obviously light won’t go off right away. I did these steps and it cleared it . Thank you!
Hey you're awesome. Thank you so much for this video. Took car to shop after the car was leaking oil(they didnt put the oil plug on right after oil change) and my Q40 was in limp mode.
Thanks it worked on my 1994 VOLVO
I just had my car serviced and I noticed the CEL was still on, this did the trick. Thanks!
Dude thanks for making this video. I changed out my spark plugs and cleaned out the throttle body on my car and it set off the light on my dash. This fixed it.
You mean cheek engine?
Thanks worked perfect for my mountain bike
my ac on my m37 was blowing hot on the driver side so I followed his video and its blowing ice cold now after the reset. no lie
nice!!! worked for my 2011 g37
I literally just did this on an 11 infiniti I just bought....thank you so much!!😀
and yes I thought it didn't work after like 5 tries, but you must press the accelerator a little faster when you doing it 5 times... so it's like you have to push it 5 times within 2-3 secs...
Thanks for this. Folks, keep in mind... If you disconnect your battery, all cabin settings (audio, radio stations, service interval warning timing) are wiped out. So this is indeed easier, unless you don't care about that stuff.
Glad I’m not the only one who was thinking the same thing. I have this video bookmarked and I reset about once every two weeks.
Just worked on my 2014 infinity q50. Thank you so much legend!!!
The key is the slow counting. I've failed this process many times by counting too quickly. Thanks for posting!
Not sure if it's placebo or not but my VQ37VHR feels so much better than before. Especially shifting from 2 to 3. Before it was extremely rough and now it's much more smoother. Took it out for a rip and in Sport Manual and Normal Automatic. Everything feels smoother. Seems like this ECU reset did some good. Thank you for showing the procedure.
From what I’ve read it adjust to new driving patterns so I’m sure it’s actually made it a difference. Exactly what I’m looking to happen to mines when I do this
Much appreciated. My CEL light came on due to a weak battery and I was able to clear the CEL light with this method. :)
Works for 2012 G37. As stated, make sure to press down hard and come up all the way when asked to press the pedal 5 times.
“Ok. It’s done.” Ahahaha I love this guy 😂
Bakla
It works for 2015 Q40 as well (which is basically a rebadged G37). Thanks!!
- just did it to my Q40 lol ! Def feels back like how it felt when I first got it off the lot.
Worked fine. Just had to try it 2 or 3 times to get the timing just right. In 08 G37s.
After 10 trys it worked on my 2012 g37x! Thanks!
Worked for my 2011 Infiniti QX56, thank you!
I tried lots of these videos yours was the only one that worked thanks a million!!!!
Thank you second time I used your video to clear my code… worked both times 👍🏾
Thanks you helped me so much with this video now G37 drives like a gtr 😁👌🏾
This isnt an ECU reset, so much as a diagnostic preconditioning. This is listed in the 370z service manual as EC-21 "Idle Air Volume Learning".
Thanks. Easiest way is to play video while sitting in car following along. Trying on my own never works. This worked for me after a gas cap warning and then the SES light came on. All is well now.
This video Is the best. After 5 times I got it. Iike he said it's all about timing.
Did this after getting a check engine light for removing the stop lamp fuse to do some burnouts 😂and cleared everything even fixed the high idle thanks man btw my g is a 2013 g37 journey coupe
Rodolfo will this work on a 2014 q50?
Thanks man. It worked for my Infiniti G25x 2011 🎉
Holy crap, it freakin worked! I just synced the vid and did exactly what dude did along with him. And I'll be damned if the Service Engine Soon light on my G37 didn't turn off! Thanks a million for posting brotha!
You’re god ! Finally I did it in my 370z 🙏🏽
So my '10 g37 went into limp mode, wouldn't Rev past 2500rpm. Happened suddenly for no apparent reason. The diagnostic codes were for low oil pressure. Oil change was less than 2k miles ago. Also read forums that said a gasket was the problem. Car has 71k miles so I suppose it's possible but it was running and has been perfect. I did the factory reset and it is reving normal. Before it would go through gears but I had to manually shift below 2500 rpm. Thanks for the video I hope the reset was all it needed.
😂 this reset never gets old
Old video but thank you! Tried it at least a dozen times before almost giving up. Then found this video and got it on the first try!
i cant fucking reset it on my own, literally have to always come back to this vid
Follow the video in live time. Worked perfectly. Thanks mate!
Thanks, it worked on my Suzuki DRZ 400.
Thanks, this is helpful. My mechanic forgot to reset the system after service and the light went on. I thought it was The same to Check Engine Light, but it is not. I have a Infiniti EX35.
You are the man bruh, worked on my Q70L 👍🏾
In 2023 and still using this video thank man 💪🏿💪🏿
This is amazing! Worked perfect. I will keep this video forever!!
Thank you.
thanks player used this to make the 7 AT transmission Re Learn shifting patterns
Life Saver My Vvel solenoid went bad and I replace it, car was still not goin over 2500rpm once I did this it reset the parameters and car is back to normal.
This really worked for me OMG thank you!! Ppl this is the video to watch 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you! This worked in perfectly my spaceship. finally got rid of the Plutonium Jiggawatt Sensor error light.
good to see the pedal dance works in all drive by wire nissans
it worked 2013 infiniti jx35. thank you sir.
I really find your video very helpful , I did the same steps to my 2006 Fx35 and the engine yellow light vanish . All I could say thanks alot you are the man .
My car gets a p0300 code. I do this and it's foxed.. for like 2 weeks then happends again. What's guys think.
did you get fix I'm having same issue I copped a 2013 g37 journey and it have same codes and car goes into limp mode I cleaned MAF sensor throttle body changed sparks still doing it I haven't tried reset tho does it work?
@@breezy_2522 fix?
Thank you bro exactly what I need to take off the the service light
Thank you!!! It worked for me. Easier than disconnecting the terminal.
It works I just did it, just play this video on your phone and follow his lead that simple.
Dude u just saved my life and the car salesman cause he was going to meet my Smith & western in the morning 🤣
dam bro this helped me and it’s 2021 thank you so much bro
