    When will y’all understand that a woman in a dress and heels, makeup, and long hair is not the “blueprint” for every woman?

    • @user-ik5ze1sh7i
      @user-ik5ze1sh7i 6 років тому +9

      Who's yall? And who said that's the blueprint? woman do that to signal to men, if anything its woman who put that pressure on themselves, men play their part but it's women who buys those magazines who supports the girl with all the make up, over the natural women, you can't have it both ways.

    • @iceylatte2027

      "Y'all" is everyone in these comments lol. And um...society says that's the blueprint. I'm saying that not every woman should feel like they have to fit into a box of what a woman should be and that's what's Lena is trying to say. There's nothing wrong with the woman who wants to be more feminine and the one who doesn't. Women should be able to choose and still be considered a woman at the end of the day. Oh and also maybe consider the thought that women don't put on makeup and wear heels for the attention of a man...

    • @tionak
      @tionak 6 років тому +12

      Latoya fleming Here’s my reasoning behind using the word “misery”. People tend to put so much negative energy into things that don’t concern them. If you want a “healthy black family”, you have every option to form one, right? So why spread negativity about someone else who’s still doing great things for the black community and people of color in general? People need to “be the change they wish to see in the world” correct? So build that healthy family and live your best life while NOT putting others down. If you can’t do that, it sounds like misery 🤷🏾‍♀️.

    • @tionak
      @tionak 6 років тому +9

      Nicholas Pegasus While I understand your perspective, there are so many things wrong with what you just said. Lol black love does not only mean black STRAIGHT love. Lena and her fiancé have black love. But people choose to see it as a negative because we’d rather separate ourselves from our own people because of their sexuality and some religious reasons that were PREACHED to us BY our oppressors. We get it, to you and people like you, being gay is “wrong” but to use raising kids as an excuse for why ALL people shouldn’t be represented in media is beyond self segregating. How about, the parents who are raising these children in this climate teach their children that being gay isn’t wrong and families can be healthy as long as unconditional love for each other AND our people is present. By being judgemental and disrespectful to people who are different than you, you’re only playing into the self inflicted separation our oppressors wanted from us since day one. You can’t preach that you love our black people while simultaneously dismissing the ones who need our support as well. Exercise some compassion and maybe that’ll be the legacy you pass down to our children. The world needs that.

    • @tionak
      @tionak 6 років тому +2

      Nicholas Pegasus If that’s what you got from my previous comment which was advocating COMPASSION for our people over anything else that’s unfortunate. I truly hope you find peace once all that negativity finishes consuming you. Good luck with all your future endeavors and I hope you’re fighting the good fight outside of the comment section. I know I am. ✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽 P.S. A response is not necessary as you are now blocked. Disrespect will not be tolerated #IAintGoinBackNForthWitYou

Go look in the mirror and figure out what's in you that makes her bother you so much. Then hopefully you can fix it. A woman with a little power shouldn't shake you enough to comment so negatively.

But it has been proven that you can get gender reassignment surgery and even change your Male or Female identification on your license/birth certificate. Thanks to science and surgery you can be whoever you choose. Just because someone sees you as a male or female, does not mean you have to agree with it. Clearly you have a right to your own opinion, but you can't tell someone else what to do or think. I am pretty sure you are not a government official or hold any source of power that allows you to do so. This is America LMAO you can be you and up to the scrutiny you choose for yourself.

Although historically was the Civil Rights movement was started to help ensure Blacks received the same rights as whites, it is clearly extended to all disenfranchised groups (Asians, Disabled, Elderly, Hispanic, and in the last two decades, LGBTQ). You probably don't even know who actually organized that March on Washington in 1963. Gay people were always involved in the Civil Rights movement, you just didn't know who they were because many remained in the closet for fear of being attacked or killed.

Anybody male or female can feel a way about long hair and the way they are treated by others.

      You really NEED to educate yourself. Your comments are baseless and ignorant
      The problem you all are having is that being a woman is a combination of feminine and masculine energy, features etc. what she is saying is that as a woman there is often the expectation to have hair as it is considered most feminine on a woman. She is saying she held on the her hair thinking that she would have to prove her femininity by having hair. Cutting it off is her way of saying to the world I AM STILL A WOMAN, despite your views of what makes a woman a woman(like having long hair). She knows she is a woman, she identifies as woman and loves another woman.

    • @curlyvirgo58
      @curlyvirgo58 6 років тому +10

      @@face2face46 Ugh. First of all my comment wasn't an attack. My comment was just that a comment. I don't care what her hair represents. I cut mine all off myself. My reasoning had nothing to do with "energy." Her objective is to look like a man as much as possible fine whatever. My question is why can't she just be a gay woman why portray to be a woman who is attempting to look like a man? At the end of my original comment I did ask for clarity but instead of being helpful you jumped in your bag of feelings and took it personal. Which is why maybe you're not the right person to explain this

    • @lizandkhrys5691
      @lizandkhrys5691 6 років тому +3

      I honestly thought your question was sincere so sorry that the comments got so hostile. More people like yourself need to be willing to asks hard questions like this so that they can gain an understanding. Personally, I am bi and enjoy dressing with a male and female influence. I switch my style up frequently, but I feel most comfortable (and swaggy) in men's clothes so that is what I often wear. I did that when I was in a relationship with a man and I am doing that now that I'm in a relationship with a woman. I think people dress themselves in what makes them feel confident, no matter what their sexual orientation is. Granted, Lena could wear dresses and blouses, and still date women, but I don't think that makes her feel confident so she chooses not to do that. I'm sure you'd feel pretty uncomfortable in a man's outfit, that's probably why you don't wear/buy men's clothes. It's the same thing. Lena prob doesn't feel comfortable/confident wearing women's clothes so she decides not to wear them. (Not trying to rail on you, just trying to give you some perspective)
