Here's a POLL: Like this comment if you want to see Enthoo Pro vs MasterCase Pro 5 ********* OR ********* leave a comment for Define S vs MasterCase 5 video showdown :D
+HardwareCanucks it would be fantastic if you compare all three cases... :-D
HardwareCanucks Compare all of them :)
HardwareCanucks We all know the Define S would win (:
Majora how when the define s is what you see is what you get vs a case that has multiple configurations to suit different needs, get the fuck out
:)
I watched other videos for this case from other big channels on youtube, and they don't even come close in your review. You talked and showed features of this case that others didn't mentioned at all. I really like your very detailed videos-reviews, you really put effort to test them. After watching your reviews, most others seem like they just narrate us the product details from manufacturers website. Keep up the good work!
That's how we do ;)
***** yup, when it comes to PC case reviews, HardwareCanucks is my go-to channel.
There's all these massive tech channels making great content with their vast resources and everyone thinks they're hot stuff. Then along comes Dmitry, with possibly the best tech content on UA-cam. First class camera work, outstanding editing, plus interesting and informative commentary. I applaud you my friend.
Love the content man, keep up the brilliant work! :)
So awesome to see CoolerMasterNA engaging in the comments :D #PCMasterCase
Can you please do a desk setup tour of something like that, please. Just from seeing it in the background it looks really awesome.
if i need info about a case i always search for hardware canucks, you keep the case reviews consistent.
guys like linus just take a quick look at it and other guys dont review all the cases im interested in. so good job dude !
Computer Case: The DLC Edition.
It's like DLC for your computer case.
Quinn Jenkins Not quite - you can buy them all together with the MasterCase Pro 5 (which we recommend) but have options for those users who don't need all those features right away, but can upgrade over time.
+CoolerMasterNA So it's like DLC for your computer, like he just said.
Fuck sake coolermaster
***** Oh come on, you know that's a bit extreme :) We're offering parts that change the purpose of the build - never going to downgrade on the bare essentials.
+Rodney Terry hahaha
If I want to see how a case looks like and you don't have a review for it I don't bother myself looking further. You make the ultimate detailed case review on UA-cam. Could not be more perfect! :)
Demitri: I would say one thing that you might have been listening to for a while now. Man, your videos are the best I have came across on UA-cam. You are definitely my top fav UA-camr. Your video quality is great. Keep up the good work. Keep those heaven to the eyes videos coming. Thousand thumbs up.
Thanks so much!
HardwareCanucks Don't mention it man, you deserve all the praise you get. Keep up.
Great run through, just bought the Master Case Pro 5....I love this company, started with the ATC-100 where I had them let me buy one straight from them before they allowed this. Boy did I plead and beg for them to let me buy this rolls royce of cases. Last build I did a HAF case now I am on to the Master Case series. Did I mention I love this company? Exceptional and quality craftsmanship and I can't wait to get the Nepton in there when I order it!
Really like the video production quality. Feels like the these videos should be on a tv channel dedicated to tech
While Thermaltake was stealing designs, Cooler Master was actually being innovative. That sure seems hard to do in a market like this. According to Thermaltake, it's too hard for them ;)
Lamo, raaaawrrr
Yetti5000 Shots fired?
+Yetti5000 I see you also watched Jay's review of this case.
Wow man, thank you... You have featured this item in awesome detail as to the features and modular variations. This video has helped me immensely to finally make my mind up and go for the Pro 5 case. There is just no comparison between someone demonstrating the features of a case in a video, to reading the specs and viewing photos or a 360 image on a website... we need videos like yours. Thank you again.
Awesome review. You're the only reviewers i've seen so far that mention mounting two ssds on the brackets above the PSU. Cheers.
IM IN LOVE WITH THE WAY THEY HAVE THAT CASE WINDOW
What about the nail scratch test ? I really like when you do that so I know how durable it is
Hunter Cumini You just want him to torture cases! Arrest him! jk
Zeus54321 my true plan has been revealed !!!! I must hide........ but ya it's pretty informative tho, I watched the vid on the h440 and how easily scratched the window gets and it's true so it helps when cleaning to know how sensitive it is
ya he forgot that test!
Ok hang on. I like the idea of having a modular system, but removing the ability to have a top mounted radiator, a feature which is essentially vital these days, and changing that for a "modular" buy some other time thing is just dumb. This is like PC case DLC, give you a product with cut features at the start, and give them back to with additional cost later.
+Casual Alien It's called having options. You pay less for the base case because some people won't need 240 radiators and all those added features.
+Daumex except that some cases that cost less have all those features *cough* Phanteks *cough* Fractal Design *cough*
Really appreciate seeing the MasterCase 5 review here. Great video editing and cinematography, and as usual awesome review. And good job Cooler Master. I just purchased the Define S, but if I hadn't I would have seriously considered grabbing this case.
agreed, $70/$100 price point for these models would be more compelling.
i have been waiting on a case with handles that doesnt look like a "gamer" case for literally 3 years now and this is it. this is the case i am going to get. excellent video!
I know exactly how you feel. I have had this case for a month it really does have great quality.
Phenomenally shot video, Dmitry. Beautiful work.
BlackC5Z06 Thank you sir :D
I luv it! especially how at frist its a sharp unit and later you can add the other options if you need it. LOVE IT! thank you for an excellent review
Paul was right when he mentioned those captive thumbscerws would make Dmitri happy :D
Japmeet Singh LOL did he really? Gotta go check out his video on this case :D
I like the case actually. I'm also a fan of the "Make it my own" philosophy Dimitri. I have a CM Half-X case myself and I love it. I believe the Half-X has been out for quite some time but I believe it has those base types of customizing that CoolerMaster knows how to do.
Great Vid man, keep em comin !
Loving this case! I proudly own a CoolerMaster HAF 922.
hey im wanting to upgrade my case, im kinda getting sick of my haf 922, not enough dust filters and its getting to be too loud. is this a good case to replace it, or what is one that you could recommend, i want something with good dust filters and air cooling. im really liking this master case with the top cover on it, is there a dust filter in the extra top cover?
I want a full tower (Paul mentioned that there is rumor on master 7 case) and no usb dust pockets on top, i really would like to have sliding front door option like the one on cosmos 2. The idea of modular case is awesome, will see how it will be put to life.
I love my Mastercase Pro 5 so much I found another so I could build my next rig with it as I am going full custom loop and will be modding the case heavily.
This is the third review I've seen of this case on channels I follow, and I have to say I _really_ like the design. I can't say I feel like the price is competitive with other cases which offer similar features, but I think the best value is to go with the Pro version of this #PCMasterCase.
this case, i think... it's all i'll ever need.
i'll definitely use this case for my future build. i hope masterCase Pro 6 is out by then :D
nice vid dimitri
Best reviews on youtube. I love your videos, great job Dmitry. Really have my heart set on the Bitfenix ATX Pandora, hope to see this case later this month.
That front mesh is actually great on the regular Master Case, and it's the dust filter top and front on the Pro. It allows excellent airflow and dust filtration is good. It's the same on the Enthoo Pro, and that case stays dust free for months. You can fit a 240mm/280mm/360mm radiator up to 35mm between the metal chassis and the plastic bezel for push-pull, but for 280/360mm, you have to shorten the plastic tab retaining the bottom optical cover in. They should sell the front mesh without optical slots, just one big mesh/dust filter. The biggest weakness of this case's modder's concept is the lack of ability to remove the middle bar. It would be better if they would have screwed it in and made it optional. Then people could make their own with a more open front, or they should have done what Phanteks did with the Pro-M, put in a cover plate that can open that up too for water cooling pumps/drives/etc.. So close, Cooler Master, so close....
I love the idea of modular cases.
that add on reminds me of old fast back cars. pretty sweet.
Your skills in making great videos is out of this world. Keep up the good work!
Put a white version with a 360 rad addon and that glorious entire glass panel that was on your booth and baby, i'm sold.
When I see the front of this case, it reminds me of the original CM Storm Scout case.
I definitely like what CM is trying to do with this. It is so far, IMO, good in the water cooling department, as you could set a dual/triple 140 in the front, a single 140 in the back, and a dual 140 in the top, with a reservoir/pump near the HDD bracket area. I think CM in the future will release a bracket for exactly that, seeing how it is pretty capable of having an insane custom watercooling loop. It's also useful for the modularity, as I like some features of the standard case, as well as some features on the Pro.
I have a feeling this case will definitely take off if CM plays their cards right.
Hmmm, the base master 5 is too expensive and from the prices of the options best u go right for the pro. Just need to hide the extra parts somewhere. For my needs just the base model with the radiator top & cover. Didn't realized u could have installed the ssd's both ways, which hid the cable connection bending when installed the other way. Best review of this case so far
I like it. Then again, I'm more interested in the MAsterCase Pro 3, the mini-tower version of this.
The price though... It's hard to recommend this case to anyone at that price point. Cooler Master is arguing that the build quality and modularity justify the price but it's not like a Define S or Enthoo Pro M are going to fall apart, I really don't see how being able to stand on your case is worth that much. As for modularity, that's nice but I'm going to neither buy nor recommend a case based on "there will be stuff coming, I don't know what, but it's coming."
+Firstname Lastname agreed 100%. the mastercase 5 (non Pro) is something that feels either overpriced by $30 or incomplete. either way I'd couldn't recommend it. the Pro version is still a bit much for what it offers. the overall design inside is good, but they might have missed the mark here. space above the motherboard is so low, but the top fan holes aren't offset to compensate.
I fell in love with with this case at first glance. Had many suggestions to skip it buy an enthoo pro, fractal design or corsair 500d to save money. But in the end I still think this is the case i'm gonna buy for my 1st pc build.
Thanks it was helpful, great review. Also which is the monitor in the background?
You guys need to get back to that super clean case showcase format you used to do. It really made you stand out among all the showcase/unboxing/review channels.
The modularity is awesome but I agree with the missing color options. Give me some color choices and I would actually consider replacing my current case to be equipted for future upgrades towards light water cooling.
Great review as always!I think they should add a closed off front panel and some noise dampening foam for a silent build to compete against the define R5.I would no doubt buy this case if it did.
which fans are included? because im gonna buy one soon but i want a second intake fan but it should be the same as the other two. Plz halp
It's going to need more modules to make it stand out from the Define S, but I definitely like the direction it's going. I would love to see a mATX version for those of us looking to save some space; I'm currently working in a Corsair 350D, and you'd be surprised how much more wieldly and space-efficient a case gets by shortening it 3 pci brackets. My only complaint with the case is the color; I really would have preferred something white, but that's something a quick plasti-dip can fix.
its like a newer, more modular version of my Storm sniper that Ive been using for nearly 6 years. with the side windowed panel and the top bay, it looks very slick. would like to see it in a white with black accents, like what NZXT has been doing.
I have a question: Can you install the pro top cover panel without installing the metal support bracket, just over the default flat mesh panel, or does the top cover panel attach TO that metal water cooler bracket? And, if you can attach the top mesh cover without the water cooling bracket under it, can you then pass a strap all the way under the two loop handles from front to back under that cover to carry it (like a shoulder strap)?
I'm late for vid but I wan't to know 2) things
1) Does Master Case 5 come with red fans?
2) Should I buy Master Case 5 or Pro 5 where I live normal(with window) is 130$ and pro is 165$ is it worth extra 35$? At the moment i don't have cooling i would put up in the case but i am planning to buy 240M and im interested in knowing can it fit in front of Master Case 5 or do i need to buy Pro for top cooling?
TNX
Hey Canuks,I wanted to ask you if 550mm EPS/ATX 12v 8 pin cable will be long enough for this case? Really need your help...
Are those dust filters steel? thinking about this case but if they are it's a no buy, my current case has similar ones and they're starting to rust from the dust around here being so humid.
This is the best review of the case. Thank you for being thorough so I can make a smart purchasing decision.
Sweet, though, I am still considering Corsair Carbide 500R, what do you think ?
I'm trying to pick between this and the Corsair air 540. The lack of dust filters doesn't matter, because they're not expensive. Which is better for air cooling right now and custom loop down the road?
Which one would you suggest? MasterCase Pro 5 or Thermaltake V51?
I am torn.
After watching the review for this one, I would go for it, if there wasn't the fact that the ODD bays are not independently removable, like on V51.
I think being able to keep at least one ODD and still having 3 120 fans is better than 2 ODDs, one of which is useless, personally, and 2 140/120, or no ODDs and 3 120/140.
I don't know, I am all ears for opinions.
Love what they've done with this case.
I hope they would do a Full Tower Version of this case.
I love corsair but THIS IS WOAH, i hope they will made a full tower too
by the way excellent review as always ;)
Hi...Im buying MasterCase pro 5. Should I leave top 2 vents even if I'm installing water cooler with 2 vents (corsair h100)? Thanks
this or masterbox5? price is a factor btw, just wondering if it'd be better to get this. also doesn't the masterbox 5 have 4ssd bays opposed to 2?
Great concept! We need a white option for sure, more USB 3.0, fan controller, PWM fan hub, 3 top radator/fan option, and prices of expansions should be reconsidered. Posibilyties are endless, I hope Cooler Master have already thought of them all.
You are looking for a full tower lol
Oh my goodness these videos have such production quality that I probably wouldn't care if you were reviewing tupperware instead of computer cases, I'd watch these anyway.
I want this and i would say enthoo pro vs master case 5. This case hits every point for everything i need.
What would you recommend for airflow case? PHANTEKS Enthoo Evolv CM MasterCase 5 Pro or Silent Base 800 or PHANTEKS Enthoo Pro?
Does this case have room for a push and pull setup on a top radiator? I can't find anything confirming or denying that.
Lots of thanks for the detailed review, but I have plans of building a workstation pc, so what computer case shall I go for ? I have plans of installing 2 ssds, 5 internal desktop hdds, 2 optical drives including a bd drive.
How is the quality of the side window panel? Is it easily stratched by just using finger nails?
So I can't choose between the Corsair Obsidian 450D, the Mastercase pro 5, which should I get?
It's not perfect but this is 100% the direction CM should be going with case design.
nimrodery Thanks man! We believe that FreeForm allows us to upgrade it alongside our users so there will be tons of additional features we can present without people having to constantly buy new cases.
+CoolerMasterNA we need more cases like this. This is what is innovation nice case. i love you guys led fans just get today and i have 212 but its not enought powerfull even stock clock i7 4790k
This case was perfect for my build. Owned three brands myself and this was my first cooler master and i have to say if this keeps up i may never use another brand myself :3
I like the case, and hopefully they'll listen to the consumer and add more options down the road.
I think they should drop the price by about $20. That would be a better entry point for a case you want people to mod with more of your parts.
It's not a bad case, but seeing entries like this, from the biggest names in cases, certainly make me appreciate even more what Phanteks has done right out of the gate.
I have a beat up HAF case, and this Master Case, looks like a pretty nice replacement, i wish cable management was given more thought though
wow really good job from Cooler master. My next pc case!
If this came in White with black accents, I would buy it in a heartbeat. So far I've been looking into the NZXT H630 in White.
Thank you for the video, I'm confusing about this or NZXT H440?
CoolerMaster took some great strides here but they should've spent another 6 months to a year on it if they were trying to impress Demetri. lol Awesome review! Thanks!
This looks like a solid case, but I agree that the biggest negative would be the price. At that price point, I would expect sound dampening foam and that top cover to be included.
This is coming from someone who got a Fractal Define R4 for $70 CAD.
Can you give a link to your magnetic LED strips
Fine case! Waiting for Mastercase Maker5 Kits
How would this case compare to a corsair 540 air for airflow. I'm building a 1080gtx sli system non water cooled and looking to maximize that airflow. Thanks in advance.
I know CM have allot type of fan but specific what kind of fan did they use in CM MC 5?
are they good as JetFlo?
Is it possible to have the tubing from the cooler go right to left instead of left to right like you have it? If not could I fit a h115i radiator in the front if I move the hard drive mounts down to the basement?
So with all the features it's 140 and only slightly more options than the Enthoo Pro or Define R5, yet 50 extra bucks? I really do not get the praise here, you should have been a lot more critical of the price point which just doesn't makes sense for what it's just overall OK aesthetics but nothing special.
dimitriid Totally agree with you on the pricing stance. I was giving this praise because of the concept, but as you hear me say in the end of the video, the MasterCase 5 is not priced well for the market yet. It stands in line with the Enthoo Luxe that blows this Pro 5 out of the water.
HardwareCanucks Keep in mind that the longevity of this case is where the real value will show itself :) FreeForm has a lot of potential that will be co-working with the community and media to develop this case a a long term platform to build off of!
CoolerMasterNA Exactly :D Looking forward to more development on the FreeForm modules :D
dimitriid He was super critical on periscope.
+CoolerMasterNA That sounds great, but you're asking us to buy in based on future potential, not immediate substance. That's a tough sell... We have no guarantee that this project will continue long term if sales aren't high. I'm sure CM needs to see base sales before they can fund many future mod options, but the consumer needs to be assured that their purchase will be supported with those same future mod options before we jump on board. Which came first, the chicken or the egg? As it stands now with what is currently on the market, there are better options at this price point.
I currently have a Storm Trooper case and although its a great case its a bit on the big side. Is this case a bit smaller than the Storm Trooper and can I fit a full atx motherboard in it? Sorry for the newbie questions but I just dont have a clue.
The StormTrooper is a full tower case. So yeah, it was designed to be a huge case. You seem to have made a bad buy there.
But don't worry, this case can support a standard ATX board. It only does not support E-ATX boards, but only a select few people use these extremely large boards since they're extremely pricey.
You can always check the dimensions of the cases on their website.
I wanna see a cross-comparison between the Mastercase Pro 5 vs. the Fractal Design R5.
Also, the Enthoo Luxe vs the Mastercase 5 with the tempered glass.
This case is quite bangin'-looking. Might actually be my new upgrade, from the S340.
Is this dust proof? As in filters almost everywhere?
Hi Dimitri, is this mastercase pro 5 can handle 120rad with push pull config?
hi you didnt do the mandatory finger scratch at the windowed sidepanel of the case. does it get scratches easily?
You know what would have been nice? that the Master Case was a mini itx expandable to E atx with the proper upgrades, i know it is a huge design challenge making something like that looks cool and clean, but i think they missed the opportunity there on creating the ultimate modular case.
Few others released their reviews first but I waited until yours was out 'cause I wanted to know what you guys thought about it first.
Excellent review as always Dimitry. One question (I may have missed it in the video) but does the case support eATX motherboards? It doesn't appear so as I notice you guys had a MicroATX board installed.
+Donny Stanley yes, this case can hold EATX and SSI CEB, they just overlap the rubber grommets.
Oh thanks for the info! Not a fan of the overlapping, but its better than not supporting those options at all.
Donny Stanley remember, the bottom of the motherboard will be right on the floor of the case too. botoom pci-e slot will be unusable.
Do you have any suggestion as to what tools would go well for this case in terms of screws, modding, etc?
HardwareCanucks , do you have any idea when will the Corsair Bulldog be available?? It looks really promising, I hope you will review it properly, with benchmarks and tests to see how good is its watercooling. Thank you
Cristian Constantin No info on the Bulldog just yet. Still waiting on production samples.
Seems similar to how NZXT has near identical interior structures for similarly-sized cases, such as the P410, H2, Tempest 410, etc., in terms of having several variants for the same overall chassis, except you don't have to buy a specific variant: you make your own!
I'm stuck between which case I should buy, at first I was thinking of getting the define R5 but now I'm also thinking of getting the mastercase pro 5 or possibly the phanteks enthoo pro. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Also I'm thinking of buying the parts for the pc on black friday which is around the end of next month but I don't know whether to wait for the new processors coming out next year (Kaby Lake and zen) or to buy skylake now, so does anyone have any advice on what to buy-how good will zen really be?
This is my first build and it'll be with an ATX motherboard.
Hi! Is there enough space in this case for a EVGA GeForce GTX980 Ti Hybrid and Corsair H100i GTX liquid cooler ? Thanks!
It looks like this case has reached the end of its production line. Is this true. What is replacing it. Are Coolermaster going to "build" on the idea of the modular design. I love the handles.
Cooler Master MasterCase MC500 is the "newer" version. it has 4 USB ports instead of 2. The MC500 is from 2018, while the older MasterCase Pro 5 is from 2015.
im gonna purchase this case, just wondering if you know this case can fit a 970 sli with 2 corsair h80i gt as the gpu cooling
excellent Mid tower Case ever!! Really happy to see this case but little bit pricey.
So what's the difference between the Pro and the normal one? Does the pro Coke with all the accessories?
Finally someone is taking cases seriously...this is a great idea and I would like other case makers to follow suit.
ALL HAIL COOLERMASTER etc.
***** Supports our Nepton 240M no problem! ;) Check the reviews on it, it's actually very, very good.
+LightHawk000 Yeah I agree since I prefer the look before the top mesh is installed. That top radiator mount inverted would be a sick option though.
