@lolexplode Sometimes it's easier to play to the faster pulse. If playing eighth notes with your foot is easier, then master the hand patterns to that first. When you're comfortable enough with all 6 hand patterns I would encourage you to play it against the quarter note pulse. Good luck!
Thank you for this exercise! I've been trying to do the quarter note pulse but I keep falling out of beat. It seems to be much easier for me to do 8ths with my foot, but I can't pull the whole thing off in one go yet. I'm not sure whether I should I keep trying quarters until I get it right or if I should I get the exercise down with an 8th pulse first and then move to doing quarters after.
Hey Danny. Thanks for this great vid on Polyrythm hand techniques. I was at your show last night at Slims in SF. You guys were fucking killed it and you played the sickest setlist ive heard so far!..can you tell me what songs you played? thanks
Do you have any suggestions for hand technique? I've been playing drums for quite a while and my left hand still just can't keep up with my right. I notice you play with a French grip; does that help out with this at all? I usually play German grip as I was taught playing tenors in high school
Danny - "Lets do that faster"
Me - "Wut?"

Love this bro, tyte ass exercise, check out my video for hybrid rudiments/polyrythms/clave's etc...
Isn't this exercise a bit too heavy on the right hand? Maybe this exercise should be done with the weak hand doing the majority of the strokes.
You can switch hands! 🤦♀️
