I loved that this show didn’t make Tariq an actual bad guy. Not loving and/or wanting to be with someone anymore doesn’t mean it’s because they’ve harmed you.
i mean he was a bad partner and i think that does reflect on his character a bit, but definitely not a completely horrible person. he's funny he'd make a fun friend

As a substitute, yeah that’s how it usually goes. Subs also get a lunch time set aside or a teacher’s aide watches the kids while the teacher eats lunch.
Yep I used to teach elementary and we surprisingly got a lot of breaks (that would often get stolen by meetings lol) but we got a lunch break, free period, and at least one planning break a day and during those times kids would be in with another teacher and our admin staff ran lunch and recess!

My take on Tariq is that he is sweet and can be good for Janine, but he doesn't bring out the best for her. He's too immature for what she needs right now in her life.
I think it's something that happens and why you don't see as many men in primary education, because denigrated as being a "woman's job" and therefore, of less value/emasculating. Think about how much male nurses are made a joke of, despite the fact that it's a good paying, highly skilled profession in high demand. In reality these jobs are both difficult and extremely important. I love that you younger guys are automatically appalled by Gregory's father shaming and emasculating him for choosing to educate young children, I hope the three of you lift each other up in the same way.

Tariq is, what we call in the community, a "dusty." Not all dusties are mean, but all dusties will waste your time endlessly while never moving forward in life, and if you want a partner who doesn't drain you and require you to take on all the responsibilities of the relationship, you have to let them go.
You guys need to do parks and rec reactions! It’s such a great show!! Season one isn’t, but they fix a lot by the start season 2 and it’s fantastic from there on. You guys would love the characters!

I always figure when they’re not with the kids it’s recess, lunch time, or the kids have an elective (PE, art, music) being taught by someone else.
