Step is a style of dancing very big in the black community and at HBCU’s which is why ava mentioned she won in college and part of a stepping organization like a frat or sorority. Step shows are very entertaining and high energy lol
It's odd hearing that he might be, cause all this time I've just been thinking he has quirks that remind me of me, and that it's just pretty normal. Haven't been checked for any neurodivergence myself, so I guess I wouldn't know either way.
Ya That's What I Been Noticing Since Watching This Show, Now People Wanting Them Together, It Seems So Forced To Me, Gregory Just Seems So Stiff, Also He Never Really Smile. Idk I Like Him He Just Seems So Uptight IMO But Everybody Want Janine & Gregory Together
I semi-relate to Gregory because I've never been a big fan of pizza but I usually won't mention it because it's such a universally loved food. I didn't hate pizza, but I also never understood why people obsess over it: for me, it was something to have just because grabbing a slice is cheap and quick. I also don't like most toppings (especially pepperoni and olives). And I've definitely had what most people would consider to be great pizza, since I live in NYC lol. It wasn't until I tried one specific pizzeria in Brooklyn that I ever craved pizza for the first time.
As another person who doesn’t like pizza, Gregory made me feel seen in this episode. Being a person who doesn’t like pizza, and lives in Chicago, i get abused when i have to tell people I don’t care for pizza, so I try to avoid the subject all together.
Jahnine was so focused on Ava she didn’t bother learning the routine. Because if Ava really had to leave she should have been able to lead but she was pouting about them not choosing her.
13:51 how exactly is Janine the worst?? All of the other teachers were against Ava in this episode and Janine was the only one who even tried sticking up for her...
I recommend you guys watching Stomp the Yard or Step Sisters to get a better understanding of stepping or just to see more stepping. Both are great movies.
This is the episode that is the embodiment of Philly public schools! My teachers Mr Hill and Mr Byrd were frat brothers (Omega Psi Fi) and they'd teach step after school! Then it spread to other teachers who were frat/soros until a step competition broke out between the classes!
I'm so glad you guys started watching this show. I've heard nothing but good things, and now I've binged it and can say I agree! This episode and the rest of the season is when it went from good to great for me.
I put boiled chicken in homemade soup which I happen to be eating right now…. They have a lot of step competitions in hsbc schools fraternities and sororities!
lmao you guys needa watch some classic dance movies is what im getting😂 Save the Last Dance Roll Bounce (Roller skate movie) Take the lead (one of my favorites!) Stomp the yard (step movie) Burlesque You got served Dirty Dancing Step up (1-4) Footloose (I like the new but old is classic)
5:23 Thanks Guys For Mentioning Step Up... Might As Well Add Them To The List. I Highly Reccommend The First & Then I'd Stop After The Third If I Were You Guys. At First I Didn't Comment. I Just Used To Be A Watcher. Now, I Watch So Many Reactions That I Figured If I've Already Watched More Than 30 Vids, Then I Can Throw In A Comment Here & There. But You Guys Have Been My Faves For Almost A Year Now.

Stomp the Yard (2007) can you do a reaction to this movie its about stepping Competition
Stepping is a thing in the black community, I knew based on the title instantly. So hearing you guys think of ideas for the title is hilarious ❤😂
I loved it😂so funny
Yep! I want to do a step dance for Juneteenth (at home lol)
As someone who went to a HBCU this was funny. 😂
nah fr i never questioned it, but I guess it makes sense seeing as they didn't know.
also, love ur profile pic
same lol when him going one two step was just the definition of hegot the spirit
Step is a style of dancing very big in the black community and at HBCU’s which is why ava mentioned she won in college and part of a stepping organization like a frat or sorority. Step shows are very entertaining and high energy lol
as an autistic, gregory is my favorite autistic coded character of all time
Same
yes! him and abed from community
as a fellow autistic, i see it in janine too! her social awareness level is too relatable
Me a Black girl attending an HBCU watching y’all not know what step is 😭
I liked seeing a different side of Ava this episode and also Gregory saying yes to pizza with Janine is so cute another great reaction
this is one of my favorite episodes of the season because I love how it showed that even Ava has layers and isn't just a caricature.
It’s a sensory issue with eating only certain foods. It’s often associated with autism.
Gregory is the king of awkward! 😂
Bryce guessed the correct kind of Step!
This dude said he thought it was stepping forward. I died laughing. I mean it’s part of it I guess
Hearing y’all not know what step is was hilarious 😂 a classic Step movie is Stomp the Yard
Gregory is speculated to be on the neurodivergent spectrum as a character. I’m still wondering if they’ll address it in future episodes.
I hope they do!
It's odd hearing that he might be, cause all this time I've just been thinking he has quirks that remind me of me, and that it's just pretty normal. Haven't been checked for any neurodivergence myself, so I guess I wouldn't know either way.
Also, remember that stepping is done a lot culturally at HBCUs (historically black colleges)
You should watch 'Stomp the yard' It's very good at highlighting step especially in the early 2000s
You guys should watch Stomp the Yard now so you can see a little more about stepping and the HBCU experience in general. And it’s a good movie ♥️
*gregory not liking pizza but will eat it if Janine requested is sooooooo damn cute.*
Stepping is so much fun to do and watch.
I'm embarrassingly early for someone who doesn't have post notifications on😭😭😭😭
same😭😭
Janine is going to have her hands full with Gregory and his picky eating.

Step is a traditional style of dance in African American culture
You guys should watch stomp the yard lol
Yes! Especially since they mentioned it in the show
I agree!
As another person who doesn’t like pizza, Gregory made me feel seen in this episode. Being a person who doesn’t like pizza, and lives in Chicago, i get abused when i have to tell people I don’t care for pizza, so I try to avoid the subject all together.
The guy at the end got it right 👏🏼 He guessed that it could have something to do with step class. He doubted himself but he still guessed right.
Jahnine was so focused on Ava she didn’t bother learning the routine. Because if Ava really had to leave she should have been able to lead but she was pouting about them not choosing her.
11:59 it’s hilarious how the pun pained you 😂
Gregory just has a touch of the ‘tism, nothing wrong with that lol
Step is fun, I did it for a little bit. It’s mainly a black thing, it was funny seeing you guys guess
I love how fast y’all are watching these episodes 😂
13:51 how exactly is Janine the worst?? All of the other teachers were against Ava in this episode and Janine was the only one who even tried sticking up for her...
It’s like 50/50 😂
I love having these now that the 2nd season is done.
"Ugh Janine" SENT me lmao
I recommend you guys watching Stomp the Yard or Step Sisters to get a better understanding of stepping or just to see more stepping. Both are great movies.

This reaction😂 Rob, Zuff, & Bryce not knowing what step is, Rob & Bryce off beat head bopping, then Zuff singing born this way👏
Abbott and the White lotus??? I’m lovin this 🫶🏾
Zuff thought "stepping" meant walking. LOL
at some point we will stop calling autistic people weird for being picky eaters but I have a feeling it’ll be a while
On the topic of dance and stepping, you guys should watch “Stomp The Yard”!
Stepping became popular in black universities in the 80,s.
I'm so glad you guys started watching this show. I've heard nothing but good things, and now I've binged it and can say I agree! This episode and the rest of the season is when it went from good to great for me.
Stepping is a form of dance created by African Americans. Popularized by fraternities and sororities. I used to step when I was a kid as well.
Love that they showed a different side of Ava this episode 💙
Thanks, Bryce! Thanks, Rob! Thanks, Zuff! 🏫 #ReelTime #ShahrzadDavani #AbbottElementary
Y’all not knowing about step is tripping me outttt 😦😂😂😂

Step it Up is basically Shake it Up and Stomp the Yard is an OG (no shade I grew up learning how to dance from all three)
You guys should watch stomp the yard (a step movie). Step up isn't about step.💀
Can anyone name the song the kids danced to in the actual performance? I've been looking online for awhile.
Another great episode! 🎉
“Marie Antoinette” by Boyfriend
