    To make a really good chain effect from wire: twist wire together, tight and evenly, make slightly longer than needed to make it easy to hold. Find a flat strong surface (bottom of iron or sauce pan) hold wire on flat surface and gently use a tack hammer to flatten from one side. It will round of twist, flatten off the round wire and look like an epic store bought chain that you can bend to shape.

      Interesting idea! Generally though, I just use jeweler's chain, which you can get in most big box stores where all the beads are for less than a dollar per yard. Wire probably holds specific shapes better, though, might be a better call if you need more durability.

    If I may suggest, for the fire, use crumpled cellophane food wrapper to expand the light from the LED. Use a light wash of yellows, oranges, and reds to increase the flame, and place reflective tin foil under the light to diffuse the light into the cellophane.

    • @voodoogroove8209
      @voodoogroove8209 3 роки тому +4

      Oh, and the forge fireplace is called the hearth, at the center of which is the firepot. The air is fed from the bellows or blower through a pipe called the tuyeree (pronounced twee-yer) into the firepot, and most forges require fuel in the form of charcoal or coal, with shovels to move it. Your forge will also need a chimney to provide natural draft to carry away the smoke, which starts at the forge with a large hood to collect the smoke. Also, your smiths need tongs and tools, anvils, vises, mandrels, mandrel cones, swages, workbenches, files, and sledges. Smithies get quite crowded.

    Cool diorama. You can add a second LED with one battery to increase the light. Make the second protrude a bit further out as well to bring the light forward in the forge. Glass beads over the LED's will also disperse the light and send it over the whole area.

    Another fantastic build, Lukas! I've been subscribed and watching your videos for quite some time, but have never commented. About time, huh? There is a product you might want to check into, to use for some fire effects applications...among other uses. It's called "Gallery Glass" and comes in squeeze bottles. It's used to create stained glass effects, but can be used in many different ways. It is available in lots of different colours and can be blended, (using a toothpick to drag the colours together works great for fire effects). It will also work great on the clear, heavy plastic pieces I've seen you use. It's an acrylic-based product, so it cleans with water. I thought some of it on the coals, with the light behind them, would've made a really great glowing coal effect. When it dries, it becomes translucent and allows light to pass through it...like stained glass.
    Hope all is well with you! Looking forward to your next video!

    You used a stick to make the bolts, but there are tools just for this called doting tools. They are just a little ball on the end of a pencil like tool. The ball makes a perfectly round dot when used with paint. You can find them for just a few dollars and are found where you buy fingernail painting supplies, or of course online.
