Wow man! You went above and beyond with this tutorial and I thank you so much :) Ive had an fm3 for a while now and my fc6 and temple board just arrived and I’ve been trying to figure out how to mount it all. You explained everything I needed to know and more! I really appreciate you man.
Nice! We typically just use the screws on the bottom of the unit and drill holes in the pedalboard to match these. Get slightly longer screws and screw through the board into the unit directly. This holds great for touring, especially the dreaded TSA!
Great video Matt. So this is basically using the 3M tape loc as a super velcro with the acrylic strips acting as a spacer to compensate for the gaps between the DUO 34 and the Fractal feet. Is that correct? Do you think that’ll work with a larger FM9 obviously adding another set of acrylic strips in the middle?
Wow… so for the FM9, I measured about 3/8” distance from bottom of legs to bottom of the unit. That’s quite a difference than your FM3. That is hard to believe. I think I’ll try simply using the Dual Lock with a couple of screws on the base. Perhaps maybe a thin layer of plexiglass for extra hold in between the board and the FM9
Hi Matt..thanks for the insight on your method!! A suggestion..maybe try 3/8''' acrylic sheet..in the US the stuff out there is actually .354'' thick...that should allow for only using 1 spacer plate for each side.
I´ve always thougth that we area smart people (guitarrist), we try to solve any hardware problem, program setups, learn music theory, practice and play live... Man we can save the the world!... haha Thanks for your time... make more videos!
Needs to be FIRST in signal chain. Before volume. Before wah. Before anything for best results. Guitar --> Digitech Drop --> FM3 My full signal chain w/ external wah and volume Guitar --> Drop --> Wah --> Volume --> FM3
Thanks Matt. So to clarify: 3/8” thk is fine since I’m only making one cut for each strip. Is that right? This eliminates the need to stack and glue thinner pieces.
Isn't it MUCH easier to use 2 or 3 Dual lock stacked on another underneath the FM? I heard of a lot of people that did it. Best way seems to be a Temple Audio Board such as the Duo 17 where the FM3 can be directly screwed onto it. Unfortunately they are pretty expensive and the Duo 17 is sold out everywhere here in Germany 😞

You’re so welcome :-)
With a temple board you can used the screw holes (where the original screws are) to mount it directly to the board. Can' be easier...

Smart move!

Yes yes and yes.
For FM9, you could probably just do 3 strips total and you’ll be fine.
Also, thanks :-)
Hey quick follow up please. You mentioned 3/32” thick acrylic and someone mentioned 3/8”. Which would you recommend? Thanks again for your help.
Steve
1. Measure twice cut once. It's a thickness. There's no wrong answer.
2. I just used what I had on hand.
Hope this clarifies@@stevelane9935

By now, I forget why I didn't do this and I went with layered strips, but you're right. That would be a slightly more simple way to do it.
Confused about this. 3/8” equals around 9.5 mm. Didn’t he say you need 5mm spacing? Please advise as I’m about to do this mod. Thanks!
Awesome content, bro! Thanks for sharing this solution; I'm about to use it very soon.

Hey @mattwright466 bro! How do you mount the wah pedal on the pedalboard? Did you use screws ?
You can just align the holes in the Templeboard and use the existing screws lol
I didn't do anything fancy for it.
@@mattwright466 I have another question for you: How do you connect the digitech Drop to the fractal fm3?
Needs to be FIRST in signal chain. Before volume. Before wah. Before anything for best results.
Guitar --> Digitech Drop --> FM3
My full signal chain w/ external wah and volume
Guitar --> Drop --> Wah --> Volume --> FM3

Hi Great tutorial, question... how do you remove the FM3 when it is attached to the board without pulling off the heavy duty strips?
They're velcro... They're made to detach.
I haven't had any problems with the adhesive failing.
Where did you get the plugs for your 1/4” ins and outs? Theyre sick!!
They're by Neutrik. I think I got em on Parts Express or something. Just Google 1/4 plug Neutrik. They make em for all connectors.

You can TOTALLY do that. Dual Lock is just expensive lol
Geez…please disregard. I got it now. Going to use 1/8” plexi plus the Dual Lock. Combined dims = 3/8” overall which is my clearance.
I'm glad you blurred your foot out, don't give that material away for free!
😂
Yeah I'm thinking about starting up my own OnlyGuitars soon.
....why you hide your feet man......🤣
It's in my private membership 😏
