I'm considering buying a duplicate of this knife. The only knife I have two of is the Benchmade 31. The Spyderco Southard is what a "production" knife can be at it's finest, even to Chris Reeve's standards. I wouldn't have expected anything less from Brad Southard (whom I believe had the final say to the level of quality of this knife).. The Taichung Taiwan factory has masters at their craft. Taiwan isn't China. Taiwan has a democracy and free enterprise system. It shows in the quality of their Spyderco products, in particular, the Southard.
Nice vid man. A comparable knife as far as Fit & Finish would be the Spyderco Techno. Also a Taichung knife and also amazing fit and finish... can't find a tooling mark anywhere. And actually I find that the Southard and the Techno make a very nice combo.
I don't have the Techno ... yet. lol. I've been looking at it and I've been interested. Definitely going to have to add that one to my list! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Great video. I just got my Southard last week and can't put it down. These Taichung Spydercos' are very well made. I ordered an after market pocket clip for mine. Other than the clip for me this is the perfect edc. Did your flipping action improve over time? Mine is still a little stiff.
Great review. Also enjoyed your top 10. Inspired me to grab up a paramilitary 2. Have never dug a knife this much.
Awesome review man, I might order one tomorrow. It is long over dew for me to add this to my collection.
Thanks! You won't be sorry!! :)

Michael Mostardi usually flipping action does improve on knives with bearings with time.
