The difference is that EC are a real band with passion behind it. Babymetal is a corporate project. If they didn’t happen to get put in babymetal they’d all have been put in j-pop bands

@@wallysnakes2690 it’s easy to fake passion when the alternative is that you lose million dollar records deals. And to answer your question, it’s because it’s philosophically antithetical to what all music and art should be about, let alone metal music. I’m far from a purist and I enjoy all kinds of genres and subgenres, but for me making metal music in a boardroom crosses the line. If you like it fair enough, it’s just my opinion.

Overhated how? They’re pretty much the most popular metal group from Japan. I like this song a lot, but I also wish bands would collab with Japanese groups besides Babymetal. Groups like Band-Maid, Lovebites and Nemophila deserve more recognition than they get. I think a band like Hanabie in particular would be a perfect match to collab with Electric Callboy

@@matthewhall8939 There's still some amount of, let's just say, Metal Elitists that hate them just because they're doing this kind of music, y'know Kawaii Metal. And some of them still see them as a joke. Which is funny cause we know they've been active for almost 14 years in the industry and absolutely still killing it. And they also inspired a lot of artists throughout the years.
@@matthewhall8939 I feel like a lot of the hate is from gatekeepers and metal elitists who see them as "industry plants" and I kinda get why they think that considering how the group came into being and all the members not being "familiar" with metal music at the beginning of the group. I think they're wrong to still be thinking in that way considering how all the members have absolutely embraced rock and metal music in the years since.
My girlfriend is a huge Babymetal fan and I just recently introduced her to Electric Callboy… this is amazing timing
Honestly I think Babymetal's thing is kinda the same thing with Electric Callboy. They give metal a different level of "fun" that others bands don't provide.
Like if someone said Electric Callboy is the boyband version of Babymetal, I wouldn't argue with that actually.

I was just going on about the BMTH collab they did and I wholeheartedly agree that it’s the best feature I’ve ever heard too. It gives me anime opening vibes, but it also goes so hard.

To answer the question of the day - with Babymetal I think I gotta go with Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!. It was the song that introduced me to them and I still adore it the most in live performances, Suzuka's vocals are great. As for Electric Callboy - might be unpopular pick, but probably MC Thunder II (Dancing Like a Ninja). There's just something about it that tickles my fancy in a special way.
It's strange that people don't like Babymetal, sometimes it seems like it's because they sing in Japanese or just prejudice because they're practically an idol group
If you have only heard a couple of songs (and if one of them was 'Gimme Chocolate') and you only heard studio recordings ... it is very understandable that you don't get BABYMETAL. To get them you'd need to hear pretty much any other song - but watch a live performance.
Try 'Megitsune' live at PIA Arena or 'Road of Resistance' live in Japan or live at PIA Arena.
In my eyes the perfect collab. They should do a second song.

You don't get Babymetal? May I ask how far into their discography have you explored? They have been doing this for almost 15 years now. Please say you've explored past Gimme Chocolate and Karate before making an opinion. This is a great song, by the way. Makes me smile.
I don’t think he was expressing a strong opinion on anything. I think he was just being honest about his thoughts in where he is at regarding the group. But I don’t think you are wrong in your initial question. It‘s a good question for anybody who’s curious.
My favorite song by Babymetal is for sure Brand New Day ft. Polyphia, and my favorite EC song is We Got The Moves, no explanation needed i guess
My #1 advice when it comes Babymetal, and this is what their lead vocalist Sumetal has said; stop thinking about it, and feel it (paraphrasing of course). You don’t need to “get the concept” to enjoy Babymetal. You are kind of putting the carriage before the horse when you do that. Hell, I didn’t even have a firm grasp of what this was until months in of falling in love with the group.
Babymetal are primarly about fun and joy, so if you were having fun watching this video, that means that you get them 😉 . I'm half-kidding of course, but you know what I mean. Hey, we all have our views of music, nothing wrong with that.

I am not a big Babymetal fan either, but there are some really good songs and collabs, my actual favourite: F.HERO x BODYSLAM x BABYMETAL - LEAVE IT ALL BEHIND 3 Languages 4 Genres 1 Message. I hope EC will do another collab with Babymetal, cause when i think about it, it´s the perfect match. Both go hard as f... and both got so poppy elements to it that you immediately want to start to dance and break s.t. at the same time... love it !

It's very easy to get Babymetal tbh, all you have to do is remember that a lot of metal fans are also terminally online weebs and suddenly it all makes sense
I will always suggest you give the lady two BabyMetal albums another go, they found their grove as a group, and not just a one off novelty act.
On their newest album the song “Divine Attack” (one of my absolute favorites) the lyrics were written by Su (the lead singer) the girls are progressing not as a cute dance idol dance outfit to metal music, but fully fledged front women.

I don't know how true it is, but I love the story that the BabyMetal girls didn't know what they were signing up for, thinking they were auditioning for a standard idol group. I love how they've embraced it, and are now the biggest Japanese idol group "despite" the metal twist. I'm far from the biggest fan of theirs, but come on, this is just fun people having fun.
My favourite BabyMetal song is the BMTH one. I think their style works so much better in conjunction with something else.

Favourite Babymetal-Song... difficult, I'd say almost all of them - but if you want to "get them", maybe try Road of Resistance Live in Japan. That's what Babymetal is all about. And to quote Su-Metal. "Don't think. Just feel."

My favorite babymetal songs so far are Brand New Day, Road To Resistance, Night Night Burn, Megitsune, Headbanger, Gimme Chocolate, Karate and Distortion. I just finished their most recent album. You’ll definitely like it since it’s just straight up metal but with a bit of J-Pop sprinkled in. And Suzuka is a very talented vocalist there’s no denying that 🤘🏼
Love Electric Callboy, and unapologetically love Babymetal. So I absolutely love everything about this! Favorite songs of theirs for me are Tekkno Train and line! respectively
Don't worry about not getting Babymetal, different strokes for different folks after all. As for me, when I discovered Babymetal back in 2015, they were the greatest thing that I never knew I needed. I love metal, and I love J-pop...so putting them together just works so, so well for me. Not only are they amazing in their own right, they are also the perfect gateway artist for the kawaii metal genre.

Babymetal just makes fun music. They have such a good time when making these songs, and have an even better time on stage. The amount of stamina they have to perform elaborate dances all while singing is so incredibly impressive and amazing.
That being said, my favorite EC song is probably Fuckboi, and it’s hard to pick my favorite Babymetal song. Definitely check out Monochrome from their newest album though!

They have over 60 songs and no 2 songs sound the same. There has got to be more Babymetal songs that you will love. If we just knew what kind of music you like we could recommend the songs that you'd be most likely to like.
I discovered Gimme Chocolate and Karate by Babymetal back in high school. It wasn’t my thing back then, but little did I know, it would be my avenue into getting into Jpop and Kpop

This is great fun song perfect collaboration enjoyed both bands but am a BabyMetal fan got a feeling you heard Gimme Chocolate all them years ago and never bothered listening to anything else by them . If you tour with the likes of Metallica, RHCP , Judas Priest. Korn Lady Ga Ga and have bands like BMTH , Amaranthe, Sleep Token, The Hu and Avarta open for you . Have Alice White Gluz, Polythia, Tom Morello festure on your songs maybe you should check out more BabyMetal to see what they seen in BabyMetal you missed .

Babymetal is not your average metal bands, they are an acquired taste, they have a big element of 'fun live' as do Electric Callboy or ... Alestorm for example. None of them take themselves all that seriously, but like EC, their is lots of hard work and talent involved. I don't know about Alestorm to judge that, but it feels like they are slightly more casual about it.
Maybe I can recommend: Road of Resistance Live in Japan and Megitsune and Monochrome from PIA Arena 2023 to get at least 1 idea why people like them live, they get audiences involved.

I think Baby Metal is a fun project, but there are other bands in the same vein I enjoy more, mainly Kiba of Akiba. They still definitely have a bit of the Idol thing going on but they have a bit more of an edge. Riffs are awesome too.
Gotta go with Hypa Hypa, it's the song that introduced me to both the band and metal in general!!!! So it has a special place in my heart, plus I'm german too haha
