I'm actually scared of what's going to happen to so many of us without this snap allotment. Prices have soared at the grocery stores and now we will have less money to buy food.
Prices are up, and going up! Plus, food products are less in weight and volume. (Like as if we didn't notice). Sadly, no one wants to address this whole issue. I feel, if you are on disability and/or retired, and only have those monthly income benefits...Why in the world would those EBT benefits get lowered?? Shouldn't there be an ebt amount that is set for those in that category, and not flip back and forth??

I'm 68 I have been preparing I'm stocking up for when the extra EBT ends we all knew this would not last forever. This has been going on since March of 2020 I was surprised it lasted this long

Inflation is absolutely insane right now and they're taking away something people relied on. Food prices are expected to increase even further. How can they expect us to be able to live off of that the way things are now? I was laid off from work a few months ago and things have been tough while I try to find new work. So many people are out here still struggling and no longer having that emergency allotment will only make it worse. Unbelievable.

Yep bigs got the food raised were they want it now take food stamps away. As if it wasn't already tough for the poor folks but we understand those immigrants need to have that money to live here for free. They raised food prices with out to many compliments now landlord lights gas company will be turning these off people wount be able to eat and pay there bills. I don't know where you live I live in Central Illinois prices aren't that high 2 months ago I bought six large bottles of Hunt's Ketchup for 99 cents good till sometime in 2024. I also have been buying only markdown meat for many years last Saturday at my local Kroger I got 29 lb of markdown simple truth ground beef using digital coupons for the total price of $14.85. You might have to ajust the way you shop

In Wisconsin I was getting $519 a month for 2 people. As soon as I started getting unemployment, my snap went down to $256. A dozen of eggs are $7. Hard times ahead of us.

THIS IS WRONG WRONG WRONG!!! it's winter time. Our poor have the extra huge expense of heating their homes to stay alive. I've heard that food pantries are already struggling everywhere these days to keep their shelves stocked. So how are our poor, specially our elderly poor who can't work ..... how are they going to eat if all they get is the small amount of "normal" food stamps allowed. House payments and rent alone take a lot out of many folk's social security, not counting the rising costs of everything. Regular social security has no where near kept up with inflation as was promised us when we were young. Our rich politicians should have to live on what our poor live on for at least one month, just to experience how every day, it has become more and more impossible for many to stay warm and well fed, specially now that they are taking away $281/month for one person's COLA food stamps. Example I get only $25/month food stamps but $281 in the temporary COLA that they are taking away in February.

They love to do that. Give us a raise, lower our food stamps, raise our rent, plus I have a spend down on my medical card so I end up usually putting out more than my raise. I have to put out for my dental, eyes, scripts plus over the counter meds. Just for my eyes it is $100 per month for my over the counter meds. Thankfully I can use my mileage to & from doc office plus any over the counter meds I can also use as long ad my doc makes a yearly script out for me. Every penny I spend on medical I can also use towards my rent since I live in housing. It is crazy though. It seems that every raise we get they somehow take it back no matter what.

This is going to be very difficult for us when the emergency allotment ends. We both only received $23 prior to the E.A, we were struggling then. Still way below poverty level so when they take it away we may need to rely on food banks I fear the food banks will be stressed because many people will rely on them again due to losing the emergency allotment. So sad but grateful for the years we had help. Beans n rice here we come. We tried growing our own food in our backyard but didn’t go well. Tried several years. If you know if any other resources for food insecurity please let us know. What I don’t understand is how some people that are in the same lie income situation and disabled and only two adults in the home prior to COVID would get a couple hundred in cal fresh but we didn’t. We only got $23. We don’t have a savings. Makes you wonder why such a difference. We are below poverty level. Even in the cal fresh site when I look at their chart we should be getting more EBT than we are. I need to talk to an agent again and find out what we’re doing wrong. According to their chart we should be getting much more. Good luck everyone.

I paid $22 for a box of 60 eggs! Rediculous...but had no choice to pay it at walmart..who are price gouging on everything! Then when no one buys the food..it gets tossed in the garbage/ wasted instead of lowering the price to sell it.

Senior citizens will still need help with extra snap benefits. We got a raise on SSI but then they took money out for medicare B when they done that my check is less than what I was getting.So seniors get it stuck up there ass.and we were already not able to buy a lot of health food.

I am over 65 , how are seniors suppose to survive on $21.00 a month, food is tremendously expensive in this country.
They haven't even given the 90 day notice that's due by January 12th so I'm going to say you might be wrong everybody has to wait and see if they'll extend it!! Those extra benefits were possible because of the emergency declared so I'm not so sure they'll stop or not, gotta do that extra research!!
Unfortunately the 90 day notice for the extra benefits is gone. Congress recently passed a new law ending the extra benefits next month.
