This video is about my recent visit to Elagiri hills, the princess of mountains. Located in the eastern ghats range of mountains in Tirupattur district, Tamil Nadu, near Jolarpet/Jolarpettai.
Among the creations of nature, The Princess of Hills - Yelagiri stands as an unique range of hills full of greenery. There is a marvelous pillar standing at Ponnery Cross Road, giving a brief on Yelagiri.
To reach the Hill, we need to travel through 14 Hairpin Bends named after great seven personalities and the seven great Tamil Poets.

The 7th bend has a unique of its own.It has such a viewpoint to view the full greenery and the slopes of hills. The Yelagiri is also known as “the Ooty of the poor people.” It is the hill of those who cannot afford to go to Ooty or Kodaikanal.
There are 14 villages and their names:

7.Mettukkaniyur
8.Nilavoor
9.Royaneri.
10.Paduvanoor.
11.Puthoor

The height of this hill in terms of feet is approximately 3500 and 1048.5 m high in meter from sea level. The highest peak in this hill is Swamimalai peak and its height is 4338 feet. The climate of the hill is moderate and pleasant. The temperature of the hill in summer is 29 C and in winter season it is 9c.
Shri.Venkatesan and Shri.Nachi are those who passed away during the construction of this road-Year 1960 to 1964
The hills are rich in flora with orchards, rose-gardens, and green valleys
The total area of Yelagiri Hills is about 72 km2 (28 sq mi)
The hills can be accessed by a mountain road with 14 hair pin bends, branching out from National Highway 48
The yearly "Yelagiri Summer Festival" is celebrated in May and is organized by Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation. Stalls from different departments, flowers show, dog show and various cultural programs are conducted

ஏலமலை, ஏலக்குன்று, ஏலகிரி (Yelagiri) என்பது மலை வாழிடம் திருப்பத்தூர் மாவட்டத்தில் வாணியம்பாடி-திருப்பத்தூர் சாலையில், உள்ளது[3]. ஏலகிரி மலை கடல் மட்டத்தில் இருந்து 1,700,20 மீ உயரத்தில் நான்கு மலைகளால் சூழப்பட்டு அமைதியான சூழ்நிலையில் அமைந்துள்ள்ளது. ஏலகிரியின் மொத்த பரப்பளவு 72 சதுர கிலோமீட்டர்

பார்ப்பதற்கு ஒரு பீடபூமி போல இம்மலை காட்சியளிக்கிறது. மலையின் வடக்கு மற்றும் வடகிழக்குச் சரிவுகளிலும் , மலை உச்சியிலும் பசுமைமாறா மரங்கள் காணப்படுகின்றன.
சென்னை விமான நிலையத்தில் இருந்து 219 கிலோமீட்டர் தொலைவிலும் பெங்களூரு விமானநிலையத்தில் இருந்து 193 கி.மீ தொலைவிலும் ஏலகிரி மலை அமைந்துள்ளது.
வேலூர், சென்னை, சோலையார் பேட்டை, வாணியம்பாடி, திருப்பத்தூர் போன்ற இடங்களில் இருந்து ஏலகிரி மலைக்கு பேருந்துகள் உண்டு.

ஏலகிரியில் புதிய கற்காலத்தைச் சேர்ந்த ஏராளமான கற்கோடரிகள் அத்தனாவூர், நிலாவூர் மலைக் கிராமங்களில் கிடைத்துள்ளன.
மங்களம் கிராமத்தில் பள்ளிக்கூடத்து இராமசாமி என்பவருக்கு சொந்தமான இடத்தில் கி.பி. ஏழாம் நூற்றாண்டைச் சேர்ந்த கல்வெட்டுகளுடன் கூடிய நடுகல் கண்டறியப்பட்டது.
