I think it's important to understand that anyone who has had some not so nice experiences in relationships will and can be more careful. It doesn't necessarily mean you aren't healed...But you are being cautious...because you have to be totally disconnected from your emotions to not want to be cautious to what has the potential to hurt you. One of the most clear signs that I've seen in a woman who is in love, is the ones who look for opportunities to help you. They want to contribute and be part of the solution. They want to be useful around you. The type of girls who just sit back and don't bother themselves to show up and offer any help, generally are not serious about the relatioblnship. Funny how this post is to help men but most of the comments I see are women basically making this whole post about themselves bashing men due to bad experiences they've had.
With my ex of 5 years we had such a rollercoaster of a relationship. Once I started to get my own money I was irresponsible with it and spent a lot. I took him on trips, shopping and would buy him nice things , clothes ,shoes , phones etc, because that was one of my love languages. I thought I was teaching him that but he never really showed any emotion or gratitude about it so I just stopped. Once I started asking for things because I then realized my worth it was like pulling teeth out and he'd get offended. We were both really young when we met and didn't understand how to communicate certain things properly. Life just hit us at the rate it did and it got to a point where I (as the women) started pursuing him and trying to "build him up " that quickly fused things out fast. I just feel like things became backwards so we then had to break it off for the 10th time. I will always love him and his presence but idk if I need to change everything about myself just to be with someone. I've tried being vulnerable numerous times and acknowledging where I went wrong aswell but he doesn't know what to do anymore. I just feel confused now. Was he just never really that much into me and then money got in the mix?

I think you both were just too young. ( My parents told me ‘ Grow up, get married and have kids.’ I asked my dad, ‘ What age is a person considered ‘ grown up?’ His reply was,’ I don’t know.’ My mom always pushed the issue. So, the first guy who asked me to marry him, I said,’ Yes’ to. His only reason to marry me was that I was a virgin. We were together for two years. I couldn’t take all the drama. I told him that we were too young, he was 17 and I was almost 16. My mother was also instrumental in my marriage to husband number 2, he was an immature and lazy man who was on the run from his own bad behavior which involved Law enforcement. I made a promise to him that I was bound to keep especially after having been married in Folsom Prison. ( I had promised to see him through his time there .) After his release, he was scared of his freedom; however, he was getting used to it and I noticed that he was falling back into his old ways of lying, cheating and stealing but this time from me . After he strangled me almost to death and decided to drop me when he said he could see those prison bars in front of his face again and then told himself that he didn’t want to go back to prison again; he put me and my two children on a Greyhound bound for my home state and my parents home. I got work , saved my money and went back to get a divorce. When one of the many young women who were staying at his apartment agreed to hand him my divorce papers, she cried afterwards. He told me ,’ It’s not what you think.’ I told him , ‘ At this point, it doesn’t matter what I think and I think nothing.’ I felt a sadness at times that he was so stupid but I was tremendously relieved and focused on making my life better. Even my psychologist suggested that I stay alone for a while long enough to get to know myself and what I like from what I don’t and what I want and need in a partner. Sister to sister, it is my suggestion that you do the same as my psychologist had suggested to me and stay by yourself for a while and get to know yourself. Maybe some of these ‘Life Coaches ‘ suggestions can help you at a later time ; however, I think you need to focus on yourself first. Especially since you said you were too young before. But when confronted with me, he turned quite offensive....& said "don't you have places to be... He was not ready but i learnt how far i have come in my healing. I walked away. However he did try to give me a weak acknowlagment as he passes by. I didn't respond because his energy was low & i had a strong sense of his intentions to make me feel as empty as him. sad that there is so many of us nice men & women, But we struggle to find each other. you know my ex who i was about to marry used try and buy me some really expensive stuff like 2-3k handbags and i used to feel bad bcos i felt that was silly money and could be used for better things like towards a house as a deposit. or the wedding. so id say no its okay i have a few bags, and its too expensive i dont want to waste your money, or id say ive got so much of xyz already lets not waste money. This is so true, I was in a relationship with a woman and once I begun to make 10,000 a month she went straight into spending sprees blowing past budgets and everything. She broke up with me and ghosted me because I kept asking her to pace the spending we don’t need everything in one day. These items won’t run away. It escalated going to 7000 a month to 8000 a month spending 3 over our budget. She broke up took half the money and left.

I think these could also just be signs of a good woman period, whether she’s in love or not. I’ve dealt with men that were trying to throw money at me left and right and I’d never asked. I also generally turned down their offers to pay for things. I can’t say I was in love with them. I’m just not that phased about getting money from men.

With my ex of 5 years we had such a rollercoaster of a relationship. Once I started to get my own money I was irresponsible with it and spent a lot. I took him on trips, shopping and would buy him nice things , clothes ,shoes , phones etc, because that was one of my love languages. I thought I was teaching him that but he never really showed any emotion or gratitude about it so I just stopped. Once I started asking for things because I then realized my worth it was like pulling teeth out and he'd get offended. We were both really young when we met and didn't understand how to communicate certain things properly. Life just hit us at the rate it did and it got to a point where I (as the women) started pursuing him and trying to "build him up " that quickly fused things out fast. I just feel like things became backwards so we then had to break it off for the 10th time. I will always love him and his presence but idk if I need to change everything about myself just to be with someone. I've tried being vulnerable numerous times and acknowledging where I went wrong aswell but he doesn't know what to do anymore. I just feel confused now. Was he just never really that much into me and then money got in the mix?

( My parents told me ‘ Grow up, get married and have kids.’ I asked my dad, ‘ What age is a person considered ‘ grown up?’ His reply was,’ I don’t know.’ My mom always pushed the issue. So, the first guy who asked me to marry him, I said,’ Yes’ to. His only reason to marry me was that I was a virgin. We were together for two years. I couldn’t take all the drama. I told him that we were too young, he was 17 and I was almost 16. My mother was also instrumental in my marriage to husband number 2, he was an immature and lazy man who was on the run from his own bad behavior which involved Law enforcement. I made a promise to him that I was bound to keep especially after having been married in Folsom Prison. ( I had promised to see him through his time there .) After his release, he was scared of his freedom; however, he was getting used to it and I noticed that he was falling back into his old ways of lying, cheating and stealing but this time from me . After he strangled me almost to death and decided to drop me when he said he could see those prison bars in front of his face again and then told himself that he didn’t want to go back to prison again; he put me and my two children on a Greyhound bound for my home state and my parents home. I got work , saved my money and went back to get a divorce. When one of the many young women who were staying at his apartment agreed to hand him my divorce papers, she cried afterwards. He told me ,’ It’s not what you think.’ I told him , ‘ At this point, it doesn’t matter what I think and I think nothing.’ I felt a sadness at times that he was so stupid but I was tremendously relieved and focused on making my life better. Even my psychologist suggested that I stay alone for a while long enough to get to know myself and what I like from what I don’t and what I want and need in a partner. Sister to sister, it is my suggestion that you do the same as my psychologist had suggested to me and stay by yourself for a while and get to know yourself. Maybe some of these ‘Life Coaches ‘ suggestions can help you at a later time ; however, I think you need to focus on yourself first. Especially since you said you were too young before. I feel you my friend, As a woman who truly cares about the core of a man, I have experiened a man who deserved just that but wasn't ready because he was so hurt & very expressive in regards to her behaviour. But when confronted with me, he turned quite offensive....& said "don't you have places to be... He was not ready but i learnt how far i have come in my healing. I walked away. However he did try to give me a weak acknowlagment as he passes by. I didn't respond because his energy was low & i had a strong sense of his intentions to make me feel as empty as him. sad that there is so many of us nice men & women, But we struggle to find each other. I asked myself why i attract that kind of man. Did some shadow work on myself & heres to a new chapter.😊💚

Buying things could have possibly been his love language or one of them. You would know better than me , but if it is his love language, it was best to take it. Some men prefer to buy things to show love. That's okay, too.

E.g he brought me a gold pair of earrings, gold is real money, they were not too expensive, and I knew I'd wear them often and keep them for life. I think these could also just be signs of a good woman period, whether she’s in love or not. I’ve dealt with men that were trying to throw money at me left and right and I’d never asked. I also generally turned down their offers to pay for things. I can’t say I was in love with them. I’m just not that phased about getting money from men.
