I proudly stand on the shoulders of so many great pioneers like the late Benny W. Gordon, Sr. of St. Louis, MO who stood up, opened doors and made it possible for so many African Americans to attain the American dream of homeownership.

I am here to do my part. Today, we still have these issues but God. Growth, knowledge, and courage will allow us all to experience equal housing.

My husband and I feel at home in neighborhoods that have strong diversity. When we bought our first home in 1998 we were dismayed when our realtor called us "pioneers" for being interested in purchasing a home in a part of town that was "awfully dark". We fired that agent. 50 years ago the US passed the Fair Housing Act, we've come a long way but we can't forget where we were and how much further we still must go. For instance, we need to include LGBTQ as a protected class. I shared this video, thanks for posting it.

I had a client ask me if a neighborhood I was showing him "got dark at night." I fired that client.

Thank you, I became a Real Estate agent because I experienced discrimination and steering and it was in 1991, not that long ago. There needed to be change, and I decided to be part of that change. This is not Mike Byrd....This is his wife

They say no discrimination, so please explain why people we work with that have section 8 or other subsidies to use to pay for rent they try to base if off of their credit. Knowing that their credit doesn't matter if these agencies are paying the rent. Someone please explain how this is possible???

I think this raises a good point for national discussion. Why do certain groups get housing subsidies and not others? For instance, higher income households will generally purchase larger houses and pay more in mortgage interest and property taxes, thus capturing a itemized deduction on their tax return which is higher than the standard deduction. Why do these households get housing subsidies while those in the middle get none? I think a case can be made for the lower end receiving subsidies but the effectiveness of the programs is what is most important. Are we able to achieve income mobility for those receiving subsidies and help them rise up to make the programs become naturally temporary rather than permanent? Is there a better way than what is happening currently? How can we innovate and try new things?

My ex wife Heidi O'Day now Heidi termer and her boss was a manager and employee and had the previous head fired for a slip that sounded discriminatory and Sharon replaced that man! Sharron and Heidi termer in Washington states human rights commission shouldn't be trusted my ex wife said repeatedly that shraron was blatantly racist against Mexicans and would regularly force investigators to close cases no cause! Simply because she didn't like Mexicans!!!! My wife and her boss was a manager and employee and had the previous head fired for a slip that sounded discriminatory and Sharon replaced that man!

And for this act we can thank them for the 2008 & 2009 housing bust. Wake up and use your brain. Giving mortgages to anyone who can fog a mirror is a disastrous idea...remember?

It’s good to know humanity still continues to evolve in a much more loving, respectful, ethical way, it’s a shame it took us so long to give all people equal opportunity. It’s heartbreaking to think of how Obama’s fair housing law was dismantled by trump because Obama’s law enforcing fair housing was “bringing who knows into your suburbs, so your communities will be unsafe and your housing values will go down” I will ALWAYS abide by equal opportunity to all regardless, because it’s not about just being a ethical real estate agent, it’s about being a decent human being.

Fair housing laws must be extended to protect realtors of color. Real estate brokerages are accepting black and brown realtors into their offices, but many buyers and sellers avoid hiring them in favor of white realtors. Eighty percent of the nation's homeowners are white, and they often choose white realtors whey they get ready to sell or buy homes. There are so few African Americans who can afford to purchase homes, so black realtors end up leaving the profession before they get a chance to get started. I wasn't a realtor for long before I observed so many disturbing biases and disparities. The vast majority of realtors in America are white females in their 50s. When they become realtors, they start helping folks buy and sell real estate much sooner than black realtors, because of their connections to people who can afford real estate. White females are also welcomed into high-earning teams far more often than realtors of color.
It isn't my intention to take anything away from realtors who are steadily working. That is awesome! My intention is to shed light on these unaddressed disparities. Surely, it can't be fair for one demographic to be working in real estate without any fair and balanced competition. There must be someone who can address these disparities professionally. Let me also remind people of Matthew 22:39 Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. If you're a believer, then the Bible commands us to be unbiased and not show favoritism, but to love ALL our neighbors. People need to return to core values in God's Word.

I would like to know if the fair housing act discriminates against all people regarding the ability to get and maintain safe affordable housing. People are being priced out of safe and affordable housing daily. It should not be the right of a landlord to be able to raise the rent at the beginning of every lease. I believe this is overall violating ALL people's rights to fair safe and affordable housing. The literal interpretation of safe fair and affordable housing should be available to all and not be subject to constant rent increases that are designated as allowable in the fair housing act. In summation, landlords are raising rents and effectively putting people at risk of being homeless. The people who are at risk are the people 'designed' to be protected by this act.

I'm sorry but this law should be abolished. Because of this law an apartment I pay 2100 dollars a month for has bunch of ghetto hoods living here that do nothing but fight play loud music an have no respect for anyone but themselves. Living around these kind of people is unbearable.
