Indeed, It seems like luck plays a big role in whale watching experiences. Nature has its own plans and sometimes sightings just don't align with our expectations. Despite not spotting any whales, we still appreciated the beauty of the ocean and the efforts of the crew. Perhaps next time we'll have better luck! 🌊
Not really. You statement was true maybe 4-5 years before. Now there are indeed no whales - blue whales in Mirissa. Earlier, each time we go on a whale watching tour we would see blue whales, fin whales, sperm whales and sometimes even humpback. But a blue whales was a must but last times ever disappointing with each encounter… in fact 2023 whale watching season was a such a miss! Only on 26th December did they see whales , after that simply no blue whales at all. This is due to unethical practices of boat drivers, the hambanthota port & shipping line being too close.. Somehow the world’s best whale watching destination is in ruins.
You guys are just unlucky 😅 there are so much whales and dolphins in mirissa almost everyday
