Heliospectrum and Binary Garden were such that I had to grow into the level of 'heavy'. My tastes matured and the unique melodies and sound of AURAS stood out for what it was - something no one else in heavy music was doing. SOMNIA feels like a slight step back in terms of progression and heaviness. More easily digestible, musically and vocally a shift away from that exceptionally unique heavy AURAS sound. All love, boys. Thanks for the music ❤
Yeah I'm quite disappointed tbh. Even the verse/chorus style and the instrumentals are nowhere near as technical as they used to be 😞
I agree, it's a lot different but still shows a lot of promise for a future album (I sincerely hope) and I think it has it's own unique twist still. I found these guys when they released Panacea, so I'd love to hear some more atmospheric piano parts like in the title track of that. Also, all those proper amazing metalcore melodies in Chimerical... Or that amazing solo in Aporia. Still one of my absolute favourite records of all time, as much as I loved Binary Garden, too. I'm certain they will mix it up a bit, but still show everyone they're the kings of prog metalcore tbh.
@JayFFAFAlesanaES I've been following these guys well before Panacea and this is even a step down from that EP.
@@ajc40341 Like I said, that EP is amazing, though. In some ways, I prefer it to Heliospectrum and Binary Garden. Give this song a try without the expectations of the former records and I think you'll appreciate it more. There will be more to come and I have no doubt we'll hear some older influences, too.

How I long for the day all pop radio stations are replaced with bad ass metal. It’s sad that the majority of the population is unable to appreciate music with such skill, depth and emotion. Don't like it, here is why: clean vocals, unimpressive harsh vocals, and last but not least - the instrumentals seems to severely lack that unique pinch of Auras which makes them so great in the prog metalcore niche. Now they sound uninspiring and like any other band. Sorry (I've still have hit the Like button), but I wanted to be sincere.
Really hope that the upcoming singles (album?!?) will be much better...

I unfortunately have to agree with you as well. Auras has always been one of my favorite bands but this just doesn’t do it for me. I understand progression but I was really hoping for at least a similar feel / vibe to Binary Garden or even Crestfallen. Regardless, much love and respect to these guys ✌️
