The part where you mentioned the cable to use for the clock in and out to sync. Pure gold for a newbie like me. Now to see what other gear I have that I can sync the MF with. Thank you!
2:55 your hand is over the screen when you pressed save twice. 2nd press cancels sync on mine. can't see yours. plus there appears to be an update since
Hey man, just a quick comment to tell you your videos are freakin helpful, thank you! I got some POs, a Microfreak and a Volca and some of your videos inspired me and helped me a ton. I just posted my first jam with these and it's partially thanks to you :)
Is it possible to sync volca keys, pocket operator, and NTS 1 where the NTS 1 would be like a filter for the other two. If so how might I do that and connect it to a speaker.
I managed to sync my Microfreak to my Volca Sampler as you explained but I only get one step every keypress on the Microfreak. So one key press equals step one, keypress two equals step two. I was hoping I would be able to sync a beat I made on the Sample 2 with an arp on the microfreak
I would suggest downloading the midi control center software from arturia (it's free). I believe when you connect the microfreak to that software it lets you choose from a variety of sync modes.
I had the same problem. My setup is MF as master and Volca sample 2 as slave.if anybody is interested,to solve it, download Arturia’s MIDI Control Center, and in the “Sync Clock In/Out Settings” select 1Pulse (Korg) and should work.
I used your way to sync the volca drum, but drum and micfreak can't always be played at the same time, it feels half a beat slower, how should I solve this?sorry for my bad english
i followed this process and when i play on the micro freak it shows the volca drum in sync but there is no audio coming from it and i only here the freak. any help? thanks!!
Thanks. Good to know that my freak behaves normal. It works perfectly as master with volcas/Logues via clock. But as slave the freak only works with MIDI, that always sends start/stop which can be a pain in the ass.
@@FreeBeat I have a midi from the microfreak to the midi out of the tr6s but I also have 2 trs 1'4 cables that I guess are going to the 2 channels of the scarlett 2i2? The scarlett 2i2 goes straight to my phone thru usb c as well but I am clearly doing something wrong...and not sure where I am supposed to put my headphones in, when I put them in the roland then I hear nothing on the microfreak
When I play a sequence on my Microfreak, My Korg Volca goes super fast. If I turn it down on the Microfreak to 30bpm which is the slowest setting, my Volca goes slower but still going fast like triple the speed....
Thanks for the video.👍 I just bought a "micro freak" and I'm trying to sync it to my Korg volcas. I was hoping I could get it to Take clock "in" from a volca?
I think things change when you use volca beats, since beats is essentially a looper, I have only tried using the beats as the sync source, I am interested to try it the opposite way.
Great video. Thanks! MIDI newbie question here: I am recording with a partner remotely. I have the Microfreak. He has the Volca. Is it possible to include the sync info in the files we record and send back and forth so that what we record is synced properly? We are using Reaper.
Hahaha it was a little screen protector that came with the Microfreak! I waited a long time before I finally took mine off, I think a lot of other folks did the same as well.
Great video! I know this has nothing to do with what your doing or talking about, but don’t you think the Microfreak looks like a VST? It’s unreal looking lol!
To get the most out of any synth you should have an audio mixer. Even if you have a tight budget you should save up and get compact mixer. Even when you get more gear you will always fine a use for it. Do buy a quality brand, don't get anything cheaper than a Mackie.

@@FreeBeat thanks, man. Once again, thanks for the content, you're so freakin productive it's crazy, haha
Excellent explanation of sync and clock. Thanks very much. Now I'm not confused about sync and MIDI.
The microfreak does have an audio in - you can use a trrs with the headphone out as a mic/line in. That’s how the vocoder update works :)
You are correct! I always forget about that lol
@@FreeBeat No worries, love the content!
The Microfreak doesn't allow that 'audio in' to be used as 'audio through', which i think is the point to having an external audio mixer.
Question: Would the sync also work through MIDI?
Is it possible to sync volca keys, pocket operator, and NTS 1 where the NTS 1 would be like a filter for the other two. If so how might I do that and connect it to a speaker.
Unfortunately the NTS-1's filter can only be applied to the internal oscillator, not incoming audio :(
Ok thanks
please in 3:05 minutes give me this cable link where i can buy
It's just a basic 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable :) You might know it as an "aux" cable. amzn.to/3k3495X
@@FreeBeat which one to buy? stereo or mono patch cables?
Can you have midi coming into the MF and still send the clock to the volca?
Yes :)
When i sync my MF to any of my volcas the tempo on the volcas are at top speed and thwy act crazy. Im not sure whats going on? Can you help?
Sounds like you need to change the sync type on the microfreak.
Aaah thanks FB. Verry nice 😀👍
Thanks so much!

Yeah the Freak has some really interesting sync quirks. But as long as it behaves well as the master then I'm happy haha. Thanks for watching!
I have come up with a pattern on the microfreak. However, when I press play the korg volca plays ridiculously fast.... any idea?
Check the sync settings in the Microfreak/Midi Control Software.
Had the same issue, change the sync setting to 2 ppq on the microfreak. Should solve it. 😊
I have the MicroFreak and a Roland TR6s and I am struggling to make them play together when Dawless. Any help? Thank you in advance
Are you just using MIDI?

More about the Microfreak and how tro use the the sequencer etc
More microfreak content is on the way!
Can the Arturia Microfreak and a Korg Kaosillator be synced together
As long as the Kaosillator has MIDI it should work just fine.
Thanks for the video.👍 I just bought a "micro freak" and I'm trying to sync it to my Korg volcas. I was hoping I could get it to Take clock "in" from a volca?
You can certainly do that, just run a cable from the sync out of the volca into the clock in of the microfreak!

I'm honestly not sure. I'd imagine it's possible, although I have no idea how, sorry!
@@FreeBeat Thank you. I appreciate the response. We'll keep searching.
Why do so many tutorials have that word on the Microfreak taped off?

Perfect! 👍
plus you loaded a sequence into both. why do that? your help/demonstration' cant be universally applied. further confusion results

It definitely does! Makes sense since Arturia has such an excellent history with VST's lol. Thanks for watching!
Why am I watching this? I don't have any of these machines.... But I will now? Haha thanks!

Hm it's obvious. I thought there is something else you can use to synch them
Just thought I’d mention that the Volca’s do have screens apart from the Keys and Modular. Nice video though 👍
Haha you got me there! Still easier to use the Microfreak in my opinion though haha.
0:35 wrong....MF HAS audio in....OK it it Mic-level but it IS audio in....
Youre talking toooo much, instead of showing the machines.....
Thanks, I appreciate the feedback! Always trying to improve haha.
It's a five minute video you fuck, appreciate the free help
