  • This was a long one, a day and a half of prep to get ready for insulating the boat & a spur of the moment visit from Tim to help prep the boat for more paint. Spray foam and half a day of spray foam clean up, this is gonna get messy

    Definite kill room vibes with the tarps dude.
    I can see your smile when you started pulling off the tape. So satisfying!

    The double tape works a treat. I was impressed with the out come. The first time I saw spray foam was on Journey with Jonno and he spent weeks cleaning that lot up. Great job Oli

      Yep for sure. Cleaning it all up is gonna be a big job but at least it’s something different from grinding and sanding back the exterior for visiting friends to get stuck into 😉

      Thanks very much for concern, Yh had a spill and bruised a few ribs, took a couple of weekends off while sleeping upright on the couch. Did a good 4 day stint last weekend in the sunshine, just chopping the footage down, hopefully it’ll be up this afternoon/evening. Thank you for thinking of me x

    Spray foam i have seen requires two people. One sprays while other wits to expand then uses various length flat bars with edge on on side. He outs bar across studs/battens and levels faom at right point before fully dry. Very neat and level.They then cleanup all it excess before leaving. Ready for sheeting when they leave.

      Yh you said, it sounds awesome to watch, like seeing a good plaster make a wall shine like a pond in the morning winter light. Wouldn’t have worked here though, I wanted the top overflowing for the next layer of battening and the lower frame would need 3 inches deep (3x the cost) to come level. Sound perfect for the ceiling tho, I thought I was done working with my hands above my head….

    Everyone does oak faced ply. Use marine ply! For the walls and ceiling. It water proof but a little mire expensive. It made of mahogany. Warmer look in side. Trim with oak.

    Great video Oli could you give me a ballpark figure how much it cost for the sprayfoam please?

    • @olivellanarrowboat4319
      @olivellanarrowboat4319  7 місяців тому

      I paid just over £1400 I think, but that was 2 years ago, good luck 👍

    How thick is the foam on the steelwork?

    • @olivellanarrowboat4319
      @olivellanarrowboat4319  3 роки тому +2

      The guy, Matt, said at least 25mm but I haven’t had a good look at it yet. I’m sure I’ll start picking it apart and filling in low spots with foam in a can in the next few weeks. However, some bits look super thick, the lower battens are on 2 inch ribs, but it’s hard to tell from the video

    Now that tape worked a treat didn't it,I was wondering if it would help,and it certainly did.Are you going to bubble wrap over the spray foam as a vapour barrier as well??

      I don’t know…..
      I wasn’t planning on it, I’ve watched the journey with Jono videos where he does it… looks tricky, but who knows, maybe when the time comes I’ll think it needs doing, maybe not

    I'm being thick I know but what is the tape on the batons for?

    • @olivellanarrowboat4319
      @olivellanarrowboat4319  3 роки тому

      To clear back to the wood easily to attach the walls. Instead of shaving it back with a knife to get an even surface you just pull the tape up
