She then became bigger and bigger. In 2009 she released her EP, The Fame Monster. She won a grammy for best pop vocal album. Also Bad Romance won 2 Grammys AND is the second best music video by an artist after Michael Jackson's Thriller. In 2011 she released Born This Way, an album about self empowerment. During the Grammys she wore the Meat Dress and that's when people started to hate on her. She was considered too crazy by the general public. The meat dress was a protest to Don't Ask Don't Tell which didn't allow gays to be in military. (They treated gays being just meat, not humans like others, if that makes sense, that's why she wore a meat dress.). She fought and managed to repeal that "law" and now, because of her, gay people can be in military. In 2012, during her Born This Way tour, she broke her hip from working and dancing too much. She got surgery and since then she has an illness/trauma that causes her muscles to hurt like hell and it has no treatment. It's called Fibromyalgia (she still got this till this day and she can't control it). In 2013 she released ARTPOP. Her vision and music was ahead of her time and people got distracted by her crazy art and they started hating her. In the same year, her manager left her (right before her album release), and told everyone she left him. She wanted to quit music, not being happy anymore within the music industry, but her family and friends kept her going. After that she changed paths and started to rediscover herself. She made a Jazz album with Tony Bennett called Cheek to Cheek (2014), covering old jazz music. They also won a Grammy for it and slowly gained the respect of people from all generations. She then worked more on her musicianship and vocal techniques. She also started acting (cameos in Sin City & Machete kills/role in AHS Hotel). In 2015, during the Oscars, she payed tribute to Julie Andrews's The Sound of Music, proving once again she is the most versatile artist of this generation. To be honest I love all of lady Gaga music video. But even more I lover her live performances. She actually the only artist that I, personally, find her live performances are better than the music video or the studio record. Her raw talented voice are the best. (And she has never lip synced). There are too many good live performances but my top five are: for VMA is paparazzi, for Brit awards: telephone/dancing in the dark, for AMA: her bad romance/speechless, for Grammy: so many good one but I would go for sth different like her with duet with metallica (have to watch the rehearsal one) ,for Oscar: the sound of music and till it happen to you. And not to forget Bang bang when she did jazz with Tony Bennett Omg there are too many to be honest I could go on and on for like top 100 Gaga live performances. But I just tried to recommend something different and I assure you that you wouldn’t be disappointed.
This wasn’t the best list for a top 10 from her in my opinion. Some they nailed and others wouldn’t of made a top 10 if I was in charge of it. To answer some questions, Gaga is bisexual, but you don’t have to really be a part of the lgbtq community to be an advocate. She’s a huge activist for gay rights. Also, some context about the meat dress protest bit. That same night she walked the red carpet wearing a non-meat outfit accompanied by soldiers that were terminated from the military because of the don’t ask, don’t tell policy, which was still law at the time. The meat dress according to her represented that if we don’t stand up for our rights pretty soon we will have as much rights as the meat on our bones. Pretty out there and vague political statement I know, but the thought behind it was commendable and a pretty iconic/controversial fashion moment. She’s a very interesting person beyond these little quick blurbs this video gives you about her ever changing style and musicality. Really worth listening to full length, in depth interviews from her. She’s really genuine and intelligent.
We're all really sorry that her not being "queer" in order to support LGBTQ causes....doesn't make sense to you. This shows the stigma that the world has towards it. It's an uphill battle but it will continue to be fought.
