It has a unique odor for sure when wet. Lots of fluids and oils from previous fails.. I'm guessing it was a heavy rain and within 24 hours. It seems to dry fast up on that Colorado Plateau. But unless you want a good guarantee of damage go around it when dry.

I run my SxS up until the front wheels are just out of the water and keep spinning my front nice and steady without going hard enough to climb thereby heating/drying my front tires so they pull harder (and drying the slick rock some) and I'm not being propelled so hard from the rear.

It also helps if you can one shot it because the more water that splashes up on the rock face and your undercarriage is more water to have to come back for traction on the way up and out. I've told people when there is water in there to roll into it as slow as you can and then get the front tires out of the water 1st before getting on the gas.
I made it in and out with my 2012 Ford F-150 STX package 5.0 Coyote V8 Standard Cab 4x4 with rear diff locker and no lift on Firestone Destinations. Class dismissed.
