- 👋 In todays review we get to take a look at the all new 2024 Lexus GX550! This is a highly anticipated luxury focused suv from Lexus that a lot of people have been waiting for! This 2024 Lexus GX550 is Luxury, so middle of the trim level essentially. There are also a total of six different trim levels to choose from including two that will be more offroad focused! The 2024 Lexus GX550 will have two variants as well including a GX550h which should be coming later this year! The 2024 Lexus GX550 is a mid/full size SUV that is luxury focused and built for a lot of capabilities!
The exterior for this Lexus GX550 has a boxy and bold look! It mimics the original versions with the modern twist and has great proportions all around! The 2024 Lexus GX550 Luxury comes with cameras, fixed side steps, a rear glass that opens individually from the lift gate and roof racks! The interior for this 2024 Lexus GX550 has some nice materials with the leather seats and all the trim accents! It really gives you that luxury vibe and also provides you with a lot of standard safety technology!
Driving the all new 2024 Lexus GX550 was great! This is so comfortable and quiet, the suspension is great! You can feel some of the body roll, but it's not bad for the stock suspension. The power is good and the exhaust sounds good with a minor acceleration! Being my first time behind the wheel, I was very impressed with it's overall drive. You sit high up, great view all around. The digital camera for the rear view is an option and standard on higher trim levels, so that's nice to see! But very nice and I could see this being a great daily driver and one that is practical and very capable for being an SUV and providing you with a great platform! Lexus did a great job and the demand for this SUV has been crazy! Just at my local dealer alone, I've seen well over twenty people and the dealer has a wait list of more than 100! Also this GX550 has a locking differential in the center and a full time four wheel drive system. The interior is modern with the newest screens and tech, but is still simple to use like a Lexus should be. While this has synthetic leather it feel very nice and should be pretty durable. I love how boxy it feels and that roofline gives the GX a cool interior feeling! The dash is very flat and easy to see, but allows for a great view out the windshield. The hood even dips down in the center so you can see the trail ahead and the large bulges on the side help you place the GX550 off road. For sure the new 2024 Lexus GX is going to be a popular luxury SUV and gain traction like any Range Rover or Mercedes G wagon as an off road luxury SUV thats super desirable! I can see buying a new Land Cruiser, and then when I want more luxury, going for the GX550 as my family SUV! Wish they gave the Luxury model a digital rear view mirror and a normal (non-dynamic sky) panoramic sunroof.
I believe that’s an option!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed according to the Lexus builder the only options on the Luxury trim are: cold area package, tonneau cover, traffic jam assist, heads up display, captains chairs, digital key, and mark lev speakers.
So, currently, for digital rear view and panoramic sunroof you’d have to go Luxury+.

My assessment is based on what I observed at the Auto Show in California. For comparing this SUV, I recommend examining others. To attend, both my wife and I had to pay a $30 fee, and I was particularly eager to personally see the Lexus GX due to the hype surrounding it as a large off-road SUV.
Before I outline the positives and negatives, I want to express my anticipation spanning decades for the GX to unveil a new design. However, I am disappointed with what I encountered.
Pros:
* The shape is commendable, featuring a perfect boxy design akin to competitors such as the Defender, Jeep Cherokee, and GMC.
* While the central infotainment system is not groundbreaking, it maintains consistency with other Lexus models, which is acceptable.

Cons:
* There are numerous drawbacks. The model I viewed exceeded $77k and lacked the ML sound system.
* The absence of a panoramic sunroof, now a standard feature in modern vehicles, detracts from the luxurious experience.
* The panoramic sunroof in the Luxury+ model is underwhelming and seems to mimic the idea from the Venza, which has been on the market for over six years.
* The quality of leather and interior falls short compared to other SUVs in the same price range. Even the Toyota Highlander boasts superior interior quality.
* The exterior feels excessively plastic, particularly upon contact with the bumper, hood, and other body panels.
* Leather quality across all trims is subpar.
* Fuel economy poses a significant issue in 2024, averaging only 17 mpg.
* Many materials exude a cheap feel, failing to deliver a luxurious experience.
* If one opts for all available options on the Lexus GX 550, it may be preferable to choose the LX 600, which offers a higher level of luxury and power.

I've been a longtime enthusiast of this SUV, but now, even surpassing $80k plus tax, it's hardly worth the investment. In 2024, there's a myriad of alternative options I've contemplated, including the Ford F150 Electric, Rivian, Cybertruck, GMC Denali AT4, Sequoia, and the Volkswagen Atlas Off-Road version, among others, boasting advanced technology and commendable qualities.
Toyota and Lexus seem to be marketing very basic vehicles under the guise of reliability. Many individuals I conversed with at the auto show shared my sentiment that the GX 550 pales in comparison to the 460 in terms of quality, feeling cheaply constructed.
It appears that UA-cam influencers may be sponsored by Toyota and Lexus, with many Toyota dealers hyping these vehicles on social media to attract buyers.
This SUV no longer epitomizes luxury, not by a long shot. If you disregard reliability and juxtapose it against brands like BMW, Audi, and Land Rover, it's disheartening to witness its decline.
Purchasing this vehicle entails enduring it for another six years solely to mitigate depreciation, while numerous other automakers are already introducing superior and more advanced technology.
At present, I must explore alternative options, as this SUV is not worth $85k out of the door, if you're fortunate enough.

This is a Luxery, not a Luxery+. Look at the sunroof and that’s an obvious difference. Luxery+ comes standard with panoramic.

@@BrosFOURRSpeed 4 cylinder Defender petrol. Mine got 8.5L/100klms highway average speed 98klms/hour on a trip. Around town it's okay too if driven nicely.
