70 year old Army here. J-Hope was the first member to release his solo project after their break announcement at their last Festa. The break was to work on solo projects prior to enlistment in S. Korea's mandatory military service. As each one finishes their solo projects, they will enlist so they can reunite as a group in 2025. (Some members have more than one project.) "More" was released as the pre-release single before his album "Jack in the Box". "Arson" was released as the title track. Shortly after this, he was the headliner at the famous "Lollapalooza Music Festival" in Chicago last August. He broke attendance records. I may never get over that concert. I have probably watched it at least 40 times. So good!!! You should react to it in two parts. I always love your reactions!!! 💜

The eng translations didn’t do justice to the actual in depth meaning of his songs. He is extremely underrated as song writer to be honest. His lyrics are always artistic thought provoking and deep. It might have helped that his father was a literature professor, but he is definitely one of the best songwriter in the world!
Love your handle! Assuming it's a BTS/jhope reference! Love your love for his lyrics. Definitely underrated, even by some ARMY. His lyrics are more visceral/ action oriented and accessible hence he's seen as more "surface level". I understand human nature sometimes treasure things that we work harder for, but he's definitely underrated.
@@leesiahng definitely a BTS reference, particularly Hoseok’s military wife. I think his lyrics in Korean are very tough to translate to english and the meaning sometimes gets lost in it. As for depth, people think he is happy as a person, is positive and all and assume that he didn’t have it tough while growing up and pursuing his idol career. Since he wasn’t an underground rapper before debut, people tend to overlook or underrate his rapping and writing skills. Also I assume they might feel like he isn’t capable of writing lyrics with meaning and depth. No doubt both namgi are strong rappers and writers themselves, but it’s unfair to think Hoseok isn’t good enough in comparison due to being not being a rapper before. Unfortunately that’s how people tend to see and react to his work so far. I guess JITB was such a wake up call to people who didn’t think he is capable of so much more than they already know. Curating an album like JITB needs guts and he did it so so well. His story, his flow, his lyrics everything were god tier quality. All said, BTS rapline are no less than one another and is the best rapline in K-pop, world class standard and insanely talented!

Most of them are carved with words that might resonate to people for example, love or trust. My sister got herself trust. And I got HOPE. Hahaha. Istg it didn’t even hit me that I did that because I apparently “lost” it while shifting house. But recently I found it one of my bag pocket and when I saw the word, I cried! Now that stone sits at the same shelf as JITB album, my army bomb, his photobook and BTS book. Your comment reminded me of that. Thank you! I carry the hope stone everywhere I go. It feels like I’m carrying him with me. It feels like destiny that I should become army and end up having Hoseok as my bias. The reason I chose HOPE back then was due to my mental health issues. I was going through a slump. My sister brought me to Melbourne for a trip to help me feel better. When I told her I found the stone she cried with me too. our hoseok is so effortlessly cool - he has no pretenses; the members always call him an angel...he's such an inspiration because he says he's not good at everything but everything he does, he does his best - to me that's why he always seems so free.
Jack in the box album is a work of art literally...I recommend you check it out even on your own time the message of the songs are so interesting...my fav on the album is "what if" , "safe zone"
I also thought was Adora's voice at the back of Hobi's vocals was actually this beautiful lady's voice on 14:14 of the BTS (방탄소년단) 'ON' Commentary Film : Dialogue it’s basically a documentary of the making some of the map of the soul songs with a choir , and it was a black choir singing, so yes, it had did have some soul in it! Hobi is one of my favorite artists! I have always love him but when he came with Jack In The Box he really surprised me even more! He's just amazing and the fact he's pretty involved in making his own craft and everything is what makes him so special. As an artists he's really professional versatile and the fact he has done even grunge or rock that perfectly... J-hope can do a lot of genres and still keep his essence, that means that he has a really strong artistic identity and I love it. 🔥 I love Daydream so much, Ego is one of my favorite hobi's songs and well More too, I'm still obsessed with that song

I've never been much for rapping but Hobi's is the exception. I love his voice, his lyrics and his style of rapping. I love that he mixes in some sung vocals, too, because his voice is so smooth.

Incredible musicians all & have worked with BTS on several projects. This was the world tour that was cancelled due to the pandemic. It would have been epic!
Boundless versatility. You should really react to his live stages. He's known as everyone's concert-bias. Like you go to a concert and you leave j-hope biased because he's so so so phenomenal. Oh Pat the ESB is a delight and so are you. Absolutely agree about this is how rap should be. The topics of popular rap doesn’t appeal to me until BTS (snd Hamilton lol) and K-pop. Happy he topics are fun and insightful the flow is creative because Jhope do creatively rides a beat. More shocked us all no one expected soft bright Jhope to hit us with More and Arson. Daydream is healing. Ego is a personal favorite of mine of his songs. It’s a message I need to be reminded of and suuuch a vibe.

When JHope filmed Airplane, they were still a smaller company and had to use staff members cars 🚗 in the video. Those early videos from BTS and the individual members are the absolute bests in my open. Like in the earlier BTS videos where they used staff members as extras. You really should watch some Bangtan Bombs (the Behind the Scenes of the videos). It’s so cool and you learn a lot of why BTS is so humble even today. ❤. Also…please go back and watch the very end of Daydream and let it play. There’s a surprise at the end 😂
What's the surprise? I just rewatched it again on Hybe's channel and I saw nothing else. I know from the behind the scenes that it's V laying in the bed at the end when Hobi says "Wake up" but I've never seen a cut of the official MV that shows that.

I totally understand what you mean. I used to love listen to hip hop and RnB but got so tired of it because of the lyrics. When I found BTS I was so surprised. Like wait a minute, these guys are inspired by 90’s hip hop and actually have a meaningful message in their songs?? And then realising RnB and hip hop is actually big in Korea so there’s lots more to listen to.

Kind of disturbing. I like the freeze parts reminds me of Lights(Japanese song). Noticed Suga's Shadow hallway too. The camera work is very much an echo of Shadow by Suga. Taehyung did cameos in the videos for "More" and "Daydream". Hobi is an amazing artist and has SO much more range than anybody thought. He brings so much light to everyone he meets, and his energy is second to none. As good as looks in these vids (and he looks hella good), people who have seen him in person say that he's twice as beautiful as any picture shows. I'm pretty certain that I would drop dead if I met him.
So 2023 marks 10yrs that BTS has been together since their debut 6/13/13. Tonight for U.S. (11pm EST) will start BangBangCon (on their YT channel BANGTANTV). A yearly online streaming festival showcasing past performances and/or concerts that will lead up to their BTS Festa, the celebration of their debut. JHope is an incredible performer. He usually only showed his bright sunshine self, so when he dropped More it was a bit of a surprise to everyone! If you want to hear the songs in Hobipalooza before watching it, you really do need to listen to his solo album Jack In The Box. (Both More and Arson are from that album), and his first mixtape Hope World (Daydream and Airplane are from the mixtape). Then I think the only other one you haven't heard is Just Dance, but I might be misremembering that. 💜
Daydream is actually quite sad:( He talks abt how he has these dreams of living a normal life doing what he wants but he can’t do that due to the role in society he has and the expectations put on him. It’s all just a dream

My jaw remained on the ground for a full day, we'd been told he was going to do something darker but this, for me, was as if The Roots or Questlove had collabed with Guns & Roses! I've always felt that you can feel that J-Hope is a dancer at his core, like you can "hear" the dancer in how he flows. The eng translations didn’t do justice to the actual in depth meaning of his songs. He is extremely underrated as song writer to be honest. His lyrics are always artistic thought provoking and deep. It might have helped that his father was a literature professor, but he is definitely one of the best songwriter in the world!

Love your love for his lyrics. Definitely underrated, even by some ARMY. His lyrics are more visceral/ action oriented and accessible hence he's seen as more "surface level". I understand human nature sometimes treasure things that we work harder for, but he's definitely underrated.
@@leesiahng definitely a BTS reference, particularly Hoseok’s military wife. I think his lyrics in Korean are very tough to translate to english and the meaning sometimes gets lost in it. As for depth, people think he is happy as a person, is positive and all and assume that he didn’t have it tough while growing up and pursuing his idol career. Since he wasn’t an underground rapper before debut, people tend to overlook or underrate his rapping and writing skills. Also I assume they might feel like he isn’t capable of writing lyrics with meaning and depth. No doubt both namgi are strong rappers and writers themselves, but it’s unfair to think Hoseok isn’t good enough in comparison due to being not being a rapper before. Unfortunately that’s how people tend to see and react to his work so far. I guess JITB was such a wake up call to people who didn’t think he is capable of so much more than they already know. Curating an album like JITB needs guts and he did it so so well. His story, his flow, his lyrics everything were god tier quality. All said, BTS rapline are no less than one another and is the best rapline in K-pop, world class standard and insanely talented!

Most of them are carved with words that might resonate to people for example, love or trust. My sister got herself trust. And I got HOPE. Hahaha. Istg it didn’t even hit me that I did that because I apparently “lost” it while shifting house. But recently I found it one of my bag pocket and when I saw the word, I cried! Now that stone sits at the same shelf as JITB album, my army bomb, his photobook and BTS book. Your comment reminded me of that. Thank you! I carry the hope stone everywhere I go. It feels like I’m carrying him with me. It feels like destiny that I should become army and end up having Hoseok as my bias. The reason I chose HOPE back then was due to my mental health issues. I was going through a slump. My sister brought me to Melbourne for a trip to help me feel better. When I told her I found the stone she cried with me too. Hobi is one of my favorite artists! I have always love him but when he came with Jack In The Box he really surprised me even more! He's just amazing and the fact he's pretty involved in making his own craft and everything is what makes him so special. As an artists he's really professional versatile and the fact he has done even grunge or rock that perfectly... J-hope can do a lot of genres and still keep his essence, that means that he has a really strong artistic identity and I love it. 🔥

I've never been much for rapping but Hobi's is the exception. I love his voice, his lyrics and his style of rapping. I love that he mixes in some sung vocals, too, because his voice is so smooth.

Oh Pat the ESB is a delight and so are you. Absolutely agree about this is how rap should be. The topics of popular rap doesn’t appeal to me until BTS (snd Hamilton lol) and K-pop. Happy he topics are fun and insightful the flow is creative because Jhope do creatively rides a beat. More shocked us all no one expected soft bright Jhope to hit us with More and Arson. Daydream is healing. Ego is a personal favorite of mine of his songs. It’s a message I need to be reminded of and suuuch a vibe.

When JHope filmed Airplane, they were still a smaller company and had to use staff members cars 🚗 in the video. Those early videos from BTS and the individual members are the absolute bests in my open. Like in the earlier BTS videos where they used staff members as extras. You really should watch some Bangtan Bombs (the Behind the Scenes of the videos). It’s so cool and you learn a lot of why BTS is so humble even today. ❤. Also…please go back and watch the very end of Daydream and let it play. There’s a surprise at the end 😂
What's the surprise? I just rewatched it again on Hybe's channel and I saw nothing else. I know from the behind the scenes that it's V laying in the bed at the end when Hobi says "Wake up" but I've never seen a cut of the official MV that shows that.

I totally understand what you mean. I used to love listen to hip hop and RnB but got so tired of it because of the lyrics. When I found BTS I was so surprised. Like wait a minute, these guys are inspired by 90’s hip hop and actually have a meaningful message in their songs?? And then realising RnB and hip hop is actually big in Korea so there’s lots more to listen to.
I’d swear to God I wrote this comment myself. 👀 🤣 Exactly where I came from…90’s hip hop & R&B. I still love it, but I can’t really get with the new stuff. BTS somehow fuses my love for 90’s hip hop/R&B with fresh new music and a great message. Add in their personalities, work ethic, hearts of gold…I’ll forever love them for being all of my favorite things wrapped up in one amazing package. 💜

Hi, I am back. Good reaction, ty. Arson is the title track from Jack in the Box his 1st album. More was the bside from the same album. My initial reaction was well that was different! Kind of disturbing. I like the freeze parts reminds me of Lights(Japanese song). Noticed Suga's Shadow hallway too. The camera work is very much an echo of Shadow by Suga. I mean they are SOPE. =0} Did not get a chance to read lyrics on the 1st watch. They like to recycle lyrics. Also, the lyrics can create new songs. ‘Eeny meeny miny mo’ is reused. JHope learned to rap and produce 100%. He learned from scratch FYI. This was my 15th watch. Like the fit and makeup. Some of the tone was cool. I was thinking this is Jay his other alter ego or Jack. =0p The band look like zombie's to me. Snickers. Fav part was the frozen scene and going through the spilled coffee. =0p So cool. Taehyung did cameos in the videos for "More" and "Daydream". Hobi is an amazing artist and has SO much more range than anybody thought. He brings so much light to everyone he meets, and his energy is second to none. As good as looks in these vids (and he looks hella good), people who have seen him in person say that he's twice as beautiful as any picture shows. I'm pretty certain that I would drop dead if I met him.

JHope is an incredible performer. He usually only showed his bright sunshine self, so when he dropped More it was a bit of a surprise to everyone! If you want to hear the songs in Hobipalooza before watching it, you really do need to listen to his solo album Jack In The Box. (Both More and Arson are from that album), and his first mixtape Hope World (Daydream and Airplane are from the mixtape). Then I think the only other one you haven't heard is Just Dance, but I might be misremembering that. 💜

More was the first release from his solo album Jack in the Box. My jaw remained on the ground for a full day, we'd been told he was going to do something darker but this, for me, was as if The Roots or Questlove had collabed with Guns & Roses! I've always felt that you can feel that J-Hope is a dancer at his core, like you can "hear" the dancer in how he flows.
You truly need to do Equal Sign, it's SO uplifting and impactful, totally a happy song but it makes me cry like an idiot!
