This was also on my visit list this summer. Probably within a week or so of you because they were also setting up the lantern festival. I really liked this one. The aquarium was beautiful, though the continuing COVID barriers were annoying. I loved the setup and the animal selection. Really a fun day. Only complaint: their refrigerator magnet selection (my version of your caps) was very lacking.
I would of loved seeing their lantern festival at night, it was nice seeing it getting set-up. The zoo was fantastic, lots of gorgeous habitats and animals. Hopefully all the closures will be over by next year, I've missed seeing all the bird's. The aquarium was a really nice addition to the zoo. I enjoyed my visit very much. It's a bummer when you can't get the one souvenir during your visit. Several places I have been to didn't have hats so I know how disappointing it can be. Thanks for your comment.
From the last time I was there, they added Jungle Odyssey and removed the bear grottoes that probably dated back to at least the 1960s. I am glad to see them renovating and expanding. I wish they did have more room to expand, but if you look at a map, they have a couple of water reservoirs around them that will limit their available acreage. It is still a great zoo to visit. I am looking forward to Part II as the Water's Edge exhibit is my personal favorite. Once again, thank you for a great tour.
Thank You David, I appreciate your comment. This is a fantastic zoo, it's good to see them doing renovations. Without much space for expansion they will likely update older area's of the zoo.
It is nice to see how they show you what they lives in the wild and the names of every animal and it is nice to see the tigers and all the animals and looks nice places to go and see it is a long way to go and see the zoo
They did a phenomenal job designing the habitats for their animals. For me that is the most important thing in a zoo. The habitats for the animals should mimic the natural habitats as much as possible.
This is the zoo I’ve been going to all my life and it’s weird to see a place I know so well on UA-cam. Glad to see you all enjoy it and I hope you all had a good time in Pittsburgh as well
loved your video tom and also if you ever go to the state of MA Recommend you should visit the franklin park zoo in Boston MA I've been there before and it also has the same festive lights as this zoo
Hi Zachary, I appreciate the recommendation. I will put that on my list of places to go too. I haven't been to Massachusetts yet, might get there next year or 2024 for sure.
I'm trying to decide whether to go to the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium or the North Carolina Zoo. I've been to both zoos when I was young, but I can't remember them very well. In 2007 my fifth grade class went to the Pittsburgh Zoo, but do to my seizure condition being so bad at the time, they said my mom would have to go & we had to drive behind the bus in her car, which we did from Central WV to Pittsburgh, PA. My grandma and late grandpa took me to the North Carolina Zoo in 2010. This Summer I want to take my grandma on our first vacation in 13 years.
I do have a full tour from the North Carolina Zoo. ua-cam.com/video/M6KrudMZOps/v-deo.html Perhaps after seeing that, you'll have a better idea which zoo is the best choice. Both are fantastic zoo's so I hope all of you have a wonderful time 😃
@@TomsRoadTrippin I made a little video of me and my friend and some of the animals from last year. at Bronx zoo and I’ll post it for you And some others
@Tom's Road Trippin good if we ever get back to Pittsburgh. Have to check the Philadelphia zoo, too. We never plan ahead. We just kind of plan the night before get up and go.
It's very very 😢😢 sad that the baby elephant Tsuni passed away. Even tho I don't really believe in wild animals in captivity; but the sad thing is the wild animals on this beautiful planet aren't safe in the wild either. HOW F**KIN SAD IS THAT??? Pretty soon our children won't b able to see the BEAUTIFUL CREATURES OF THIS PLANET ONLY IN A BOOK, IF WE DON'T HELP PROTECT THEM. THINK ABOUT THAT PEOPLE 🤔🤔 And the last time I was at the Pittsburgh Zoo I thought it was dirty not kept up and clean.
did u know the Cheetah exhibit wuz the former African Painted Dog habitat but they had 2 get rid of them wen they mauled a toddler 2 death wen he fell into their enclosure
@@treys1607 Yeah, that’s what I mean. This situation is very similar to the Cincinnati Zoo Incident. So the African dog incident is similar to the gorilla incident. That’s what I meant ;).

@Tom's Road Trippin definitely recommend Franklin Park and Southwicks if you get up here! Great zoos!
When will you go back to the Cincinnati Zoo…I noticed on your last visit a lot of the really good exhibits were closed due yo covid at the time.
Not sure when I'll be back in Ohio but I will go back to this zoo again.

You should visit the Bronx zoo in New York around Christmas time because it is fantastic with the lanterns and live entertainment
I would absolutely love to go during the holidays. Perhaps I'll get there during that time one year.
@@TomsRoadTrippin also Ik u missed the Monorail so if u ever wanted 2 come back 2 c the animals on it it opens back up in May

I've been there very nice, Zoo. I am assuming no advance tickets are needed for the day. It is now open to the puplic.
They no longer require advanced ticket purchase. However I do recommend you check their website prior to visiting.

That sounds like most of my family. That's good for local stuff, but going long distance it definitely helps to have advanced plans.
@Tom's Road Trippin Yes it does.
